FROM: Deep Space 13 Security, P.O.1 Arkwright
SUBJECT: Autopsy

To Whom it May Concern,

I just read over the initial report and saw that Lieutenant Commander Merrati's body has been turned over to you folks for an autopsy. I'd like to hit the ground running on this one and get a solid start on finding out what happened to him. That being said, I'd like to be present, if possible, during the time of the examination in order to best quickly accumulate the forensic evidence regarding the Lieutenant Commander's death. If this is not a possibility, please forward the results of the examination to security as soon as possible. Thank you.

Very Respectfully,
Petty Officer First Class Adam Arkwright.

Stardate: 91101.2Autopsy Report Submitted: DR Tranmer

PATIENT SUMMARY
Name: Tanzar Merrati
Species: Betazoid
Gender: Male
Age: 46

INCIDENT PRECIS
Corpse of male Betazoid discovered in the pilot's seat of the runabout Hirson. Vessel's life support was discovered disabled upon arrival, so assumed cause of death was asphyxiation.

ANATOMICAL SUMMARY
Initial assessment of cause of death has been determined to be the correct one. Approximated time of death coincides with roughly ten minutes after the logged time of the Hirson's distress signal, which at this time is assumed to be the same time at which the runabout's life support was interrupted.

Due to the existence of hypospray 'bruise', body chemistry was examined. Traces of kayolane were still present in the subject's bloodstream. Medically reserved for use as a strong sedative, it's estimated that there was an almost detrimental amount of kayolane, more than sufficient to keep the subject under for several hours, preventing him from awakening even during his body's own struggles for oxygen.
