"Hello, baby.

But your name isn't 'baby.' It's Verelan. They've already told me you're a girl, and I've made it past the first trimester -- so you get a name.

I never thought i would stay alive long enough to see you, Verelan. I never thought i would... marry, or be a commander, or live past forty... or live past the Empire, or past Hobus... Elements, you are a miracle, and I do not even care that you are half-human... I know already you will soar, you will go further than I ever could have imagined...

Your grandmother and grandfather loved all things Vulcan, except for peace and logic; your mother is a warmonger of the first order, your father the same, although he talks in Starfleet pacifism, do not believe a word he says... but do, because is is wonderful.

I have so many years to talk to you. So many years to tell you why you exist, why you are so incredibly special, why you are the light of all that is to come.

I will leave it to the years, then.

I have not met you yet, Verelan.

But I love you. Dearly.

Verelan i-Buchanan t'Veras."

"I knew we wouldn't be having enough food. I knew it would come to rations eventually. That's why I started the...slowing as we call it.

The slowing is an old tradition from the days when my tribe would still forage for food. Sometimes a drought would come. There wouldn't be enough to eat. The members of the tribe would begin by burning some hallucinogens, activating the slowing.

I didn't know what to expect, I knew I could survive for a little over a year without food once it actually began, but these changes leading up to it were unexpected. My skin turned pale, my spots turned dark. It felt as if the very essence of my life was being slowly drained.

I lost emotion, I became withdrawn from society. I tried to think of solutions but even my thoughts became more primal. I kept myself sane by helping with horticulture, and teaching Shiarrael Federation Standard. I would tell Saurian myths to the crew and Verelan. But it wasn't enough. I was dying.

After some years, maybe it was two, maybe it was five, I had started going into my trances. They would last a week, and come on every other week. I would be hit with this sudden darkness and my thoughts would slow. Even though a week had passed it felt like seconds.

And now, as I'm recording this final message, I am about to enter another one, but it's taking longer to begin, I know what is about to happen.

If we aren't rescued by the time my fourth heart fails I will die, but I will die in peace.

I only hope my sacrifice is worth it.

Ae'to Anarhai.

Ae'to."

Day 392:

The infant, Verelan, still cries at night, normal enough for an infant, I suppose. But I get the sense that perhaps she can feel the tension in the air. The questions that linger in the minds of most I interact with, the ones they ask me privately.

"Is there any hope of escape?"
"What are you doing to get us home, Starfleet?"
"When are they coming for us?"
"Do they even know we're alive?"

I don't have answers, and even when I do, they aren't the sort that satisfy.

Still, I spend every moment of my day working to find such answers. I cannot stop looking for them, I need the answers as much as everyone else here.

I must consider the option, the one that grows more likely by the day, that we may never leave this void. I keep these thoughts to myself, of course.

Year Five: Aurelia

"I wonder if the Saurian guessed what fresh hell he was setting off by sacrificing himself like that.

Back on the station, I never liked him. I considered him standoffish and coarse, ridiculous and rude. I suppose these years changed my opinion of him. He never complained -- at least, not in my sight. In the end, he was one of us. My crew. Not the first to die, but the first to choose that death...

... and now there are rumblings of dissent. Of course there are. I have done what I can, but hunger... hunger is a powerful motivator. I cannot hide that we have nearly run out of antibiotics. I cannot hide that our replicator capacity will be exhausted soon enough. I cannot hide what Osiangli did for the children. Everyone knows how Khelea died, why Jochon is now CMO... even the best teams can fracture under this kind of stress... so I will not hide these things. I will ask them to stand as rihannsu, as those in the Republic would, as a family, until the end... I need to talk to Shiarreal, to see if she's found a way to combat the monoculture problems we've been having in hydroponics... No hunger politics, no rhetoric about who is most useful and who is least. Nakar won't like it, but Nakar isn't the captain. This is still my ship. This is my ship, and they haven't forgotten us... I know they haven't... they couldn't have...

Oh, for the love of -- Verelan, get off of that console. Right now...! I mean it, young lady!"

Year One:

"I have begun the slowing. I doubt it'll keep me alive long enough to be saved, but it will by the others some more time. I know that they enjoy living as long as they can, so I'll help them. That's all I ever tried to do, help. My intentions have always been misinterpreted, but I didn't mind, it doesn't matter what others think of me.

I've learned that sometimes the best thing to do is to keep doing what you think is best, because somewhere out there, there's going to be someone that disagrees with you. There's also going to be someone out there that does agree with you. But most people just don't care, and that's fine by me.

Some may ask why I want to help people if I don't care what they think. The answer is simple, because it's the right thing to do. In my tribe we had a simple philosophy, and that was if everyone helped everyone would be happy, and if nobody cares what others think, then we can help without having resistance.

Funny how to Romulans think differently. It appears many of them want to help contribute to the ship for it's glory and honor. Many species are like that. Caring about their status in the galaxy, wanting to be superior. I'm surprised how these species have gotten so far without erupting into civil war constantly."

Day 682:

After mending the sleeves for the fifth time, I've decided to give up and retire my uniform. Its become dirty in ways that cannot be washed away, and I cannot waste the energy needed to replicate a replacement. Subcommander t'Veras has lent me a few items from her limited wardrobe, these are sturdier garments than most anything Starfleet offers, they're meant to last. Are we? I think so, these are people of strength, forged in the crucible of repeated hardship.

I speak to Verelan in basic, I speak to her in Vulcan, I read to her about the parts of her that are not represented on this ship. When she is older, I will fill in the gaps, and provide her with concepts not covered by the Rihan mindset. I could not love her more if I she were my own, but she is not and so my role must be different, I keep a distance.

Personal Logs of Centurion Jochon Deletham CMO R.R.W Anarhai
Day 1,100

I've started researching alternative medicine. Things that we can use to treat the issues that people are starting to have. Medical supplies aren't going to last much longer, and some of our scanning equipment is starting to fail. We were not equipped to be separated from a starbase for this long.

I'm trying to stay in good spirits, focusing on keeping people in good health. I'm not sure how long I can do this though. Most of the medical staff are considering sacrificing themselves for others. Its idiotic. How will everyone else live if they do not have doctors to treat them. I will continue to do my job. I must keep this crew in good health.

Year Seven: Verelan

"My name is Verelan and this is my book report.

The book I read was called The Rise of the Romulan Republic. It was about how Proconsul D'Tan got all of the rihannsu who hated Empress Sela together and made a flotilla and -- "

"That's a run-on sentence, dear. And we talked about the importance of using stronger, more specific words than 'hated?'"

"Mo-o-o-m."

"What will ernraenen Andria say to you when you present her with shoddy work? What about rekkhai Jochon? Submitting shoddy work to your teachers is just like not watering the plants in Hydroponics, and you know what rekkhai Shiarreal would say about how important that is, mm?"

"This is stupid. The Republic doesn't even exist."

"A lot of things exist, paenhe. Just because we can't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there, and it doesn't mean that we can just forget who we are. You remember what your ernraenen told you about why the world is the way it is?"

"Ughhhhhhhh. Because of the anomaly."

"I know it's hard to think about things like... planets, and other ships, when you've never seen a space bigger than our mess hall. But it's out there, and we're going back, to see your father and the khre'riov. And then you'll need to be smart, and know all of this."

"Rekkhai Nakar doesn't think so."

"... Of course he does, sweetheart."

"You want me to learn about all of this stuff that doesn't matter. But you won't tell me why Engineer Hrathe and Nurse Lien died or why everyone's so mean these days or why rekkhai Nakar makes you stay in our rooms now when you are the leader and why you're so mad at everyone! I heard you, you told Andria you wanted to kill --"

"Verelan. Do not meddle in things you do not understand. I'm not the leader anymore, and I made that decision because I wanted everyone to be healthy and eat, all right? That's the most important thing right now, that all of us get along and that all of us have enough to eat. But that's all adult stuff. It's complicated. You do not need to worry about it. Leave all of the complicated things to the adults. Someday Mother will explain, but you just concentrate on your book report for now, okay?"

"Ugghhhhhhhh. Fine. My name is Verelan t'Veras..."

Selected Passages from the Diary of Andria i-daystrom t'Anarhai.

Day 1982:

I've made a mistake.

Andria t'Anarhai
Ernraenen RRW Anarhai

"...What sort of person is this?" Andria said, pointing to a picture of a Ferengi man.

"Ugly!" A young boy exclaimed, causing his three classmates to burst into joyful laughter.

Andria smirked lightly, then shook her head, "Remember now, not everyone you meet is going to be Rihannsu, many of them won't look like you, and while they may look odd, we must treat them with respect... Even if they're ugly." She paused, "So who knows the correct answer?"

The children snickered, then a girl, the youngest among them cautiously answered, "Fer... Fer... Fer-nay-gee?"

"Close, Ferengi." Andria corrected with a reassuring smile.

"Ferengi." The little girl repeated.

Andria nodded, "Very good." She looked towards the two slightly older children, one of them Verelan t'Veras, the other a boy named Kovon, "Can either of you tell me what sort of economic system the Ferengi Alliance use?"

Verelan answered first, "Free Market Capitalism."

"That's right, very good. You've all done very well today." Andria said in praise, "And that means you get a reward." Andria moved towards the replicator, pulling a thin cable out of her pocket. She carefully inserted the cable into a small port in the exposed corner of the replicator unit, then turned away from the children, blocking their view as she opened a tiny panel in where her neck met her collarbone. She plugged the other end of the cable there, and then the replicator produced four small brown cubes of caramel candy. After disconnecting her self from the replicator, and pocketing the cable, she scooped the candy up and gave a piece to each child, "Remember, you must eat these before you get to your homes, and we need to keep this a secret."

Three of the children wasted no time to consume the candy as quickly as they could, the last, Kovon, slyly pocketed his piece and pretended to chew.

"You're dismissed for today, remember that we have a mathematics test two days from now, so study hard, prepare yourselves." Andria said, then shooed them all.

Kovon wandered the corridor, curious, always so curious, his eyes scanning the area, by now he knew it well, this was his entire world. He dipped his hand into his pocket, pulling out the piece of caramel when he thought no one was looking, slowly raising it towards his lips, prepared to savoir it, as was his daily ritual before arriving at his family's cabin further down the deck.

And just as the edge of the cube touched his lips, he found his wrist yanked away, it was in the first of officer who nearly yanked the child up off the deck, Sublieutenant Krenvek. Krenvek's sneer was as sharp as a diamond, and twice as able to cut anything he aimed it at.

"Where did you get this!" Krenvek snarled, "How did you..." He paused, "Where have you just come from?"

Kovon's eyes watered, "I'm not suppose to say..."

"You'll tell me, or I will take you to Nakar, and you can explain it to him..." Krenvek threatened.

Andria was still organizing the make-shift classroom when Krenvek entered, she looked to him with a sharp turn of her head, "Mister Krenvek, what can I do for you?" She asked in a slightly dismissive tone.

Krenvek answered her by tossing the cube of caramel at the Android's feet.

Andria looked down at it, then slowly back to Krenvek, "What do you want?"

"How are you powering the replicator without leaving a log of it?" Krenvek queried calmly.

"I'm not going to tell you." Andria answered coolly.

Krenvek sneered, "You'll tell me, or you'll tell Nakar. I think you're using your own power, and you're either going to do exactly what I tell you to do, or I'll have a team come down here and rip it out of you. Either way, you're going be useful to more than just children and mad women for once."

Andria considered this for a long moment looking at Krenvek with an inspecting eye, "Very well, I'll replicate for you, but just you."

Krenvek grinned and moved over towards Andria, who motioned him towards the replicator unit. Krenvek moved towards it, passing the tutor.

"What would you like first?" Andria asked as she moved behind him, her hand dipping into her pocket.

"Viinerine, three portions." Krenvek answered.

"...did you hear about Krenvek?" A lieutenant asked her ensign.

"No. Elements, is he alright?" The ensign responded.

The lieutenant's expression soured a bit, she looked a bit somber, "He's gone, did him self in, hanged himself with a power transfer cable."

"What an odd way to do it..." The ensign replied.

"Still, a noble act. His note said he did it for the good of us all, requested that his ration be divided up amongst the children." The lieutenant said almost proudly.

The ensign looked a bit dumbstruck, then spoke, "I had no idea he was so selfless..."

James Roth steps away form the console to allow Aev room to work

Aev walks over to a console and transmits his own ID codes to the Anarhai.

Aev steps back, nodding at James.

K'tiess nods as the ship's ID checks. He keeps silent, however.

Jack Buchanan pauses, looking to the ground.

James Roth glances around at the other crew members, listening to the conversation quietly.

Aev thinks, "That's Centurion Nakar on the comms Captain." he doesn't even mention why the ships XO would be responding to hails on the bridge.

James Roth glances around again, and says quietly, "I wouldn't be stating the obvious if I said something was wrong?"

Jack Buchanan looks to Aev. "I know, Erein. I've spent enough time being glared at by the bastard to recognize him.

Aev whispers back at James, hopefully quiet enough for Jack not to hear, "Correct. Subcommander t'Veras should be replying to hails in a situation like this."

Jack Buchanan looks to the ground, exhaling deeply. "..Seven years."

James Roth waits in silence, then when the time difference is mentioned, he mutters, "Iesu Christi..."

K'tiess looks over at James and shakes his head while bringing a finger to his lips.

Jack Buchanan: "Seven.. seven fucking years." He looks as if he's just realized something. "And my daughter?"

Jack Buchanan looks to Aev. He.. He looks like he's shaking, a little. "Get them food. Get them medical and repair teams."

Jack Buchanan: "And find Aurelia."

Aev seems just as shocked, but that's quickly replaced by a more focused expression. He walks to the console behind him, paging medical and engineering."

James Roth looks thoughtful for a moment, then says, "Wait a second, Did it seriously take them that long to verify our ID codes?"

James Roth begins tapping away at the console. "I'm scanning to see if there's any other time anomaly in the area."

Aev: "I'm coming with you, Jack." No rank. Just a name.

Konieczko: looks to Jack, "Captain. Is that wise?"

Jack Buchanan looks to K'Tiess. "You have the conn." He looks to Aev, nodding.

Aurelia: | Jack and Aev and the others are met by starving-looking Romulans in... half-decent uniforms.

Jack Buchanan looks.. discomforted, but.."Centurion- what happened to my wife? Where is she?"

Aurelia: | Nakar is in front.

Jack Buchanan: | Jack also beamed over food and water, but I forgot to mention that.

Aev taps off the transmit and looks over the crew.

Aurelia says, deadpan. He is wearing a Commander's insignia. "Seven years and you ask about Aurelia."

Jack Buchanan exhales raggedly. "Seven years and I ask about my wife and child."

Jack Buchanan: Why are you in command? What happened to her?

Aev deals with the comms in a quiet tone, listening to the conversation in-front of him as well.

Jack Buchanan: "..Less than an hour passed outside."

Aurelia seems to consider this. "She is in her quarters. Now that we have returned to real space," he pauses, "and meals, we would appreciate your help." He breathes. "There are dead. Including one of

Jack Buchanan: "..Where was she before?"

Aurelia: your own, who sacrificed himself to save the rest, as a true Rihan should. Your wife and child are in their quarters, unharmed and fed."

Aev: "The ship, is anything critical?"

Aurelia: | Nakar looks to Aev. "We have been without spacedock for seven years. What do you think, child?"

Jack Buchanan: "You're talking about them like you talk about /prisoners/, Centurion."

Jack Buchanan: "Why is Aurelia not in command?"

Jack Buchanan: "What the hell happened?"

Aev shakes his head in minor annoyance.

Aurelia thinks about this, and then steps aside. "You would not understand. At any rate, it is over. I have a ship to attend to."

Jack Buchanan | Jack's hand rests on his phaser. "If you so much as /touched/ her, I will end you, Centurion."

Jack Buchanan looks to Aev. "You handle this." And just like that, he delegates command of the situation to an Erein. He seems.. distressed.

Aurelia: | Nakar's lip raises. "Like I would do such a thing," he says, and then presses a button on his PADD. "I will be in contact with Command. You do what is necessary to help us bring our crew home."

Jochon: Walks in with about 8 padds

Jack Buchanan leaves, making his way to Aurelia's quarters. He walks straight past Jochon.

Andria stands guard.

Andria looks to Jack, "Ah, so you've finally decided to arrive."

Jack Buchanan looks to Andria. He blinks for a moment. "You're.. the android. Anne." He shakes his head. "..What was seven years for you was.. hours for us."

Andria: "I understand the concept of temporal displacement, thank you very much."

Aurelia is totally inside.

Jack Buchanan: "What happened, Anne? Why is my wife under guard?"

Jack Buchanan: "What happened to /you/?"

Andria: "My name is now Andria." She corrects him, "Your wife, my commander had once idea of how we should endure this, and Nakar had another, his side had numbers, even too much for me to deal with."

Andria: *one idea

Andria: "Both sides had a point, and niether was techincally wrong."

Jack Buchanan: "..If I try to walk in there, are you going to try and stop me?"

Andria: "Before I /let/ you in, you need to understand something, and I'm going to only say this once, so listen, heed it. If you cause either of them distress, I will end you quick."

Andria isn't joking.

Jack Buchanan: "..I'm going to walk in there."

Jack Buchanan is.. shaken, at best.

Andria: "I'm going to let you, but I'll be listening."

Aurelia sits down.

Jack Buchanan brightens, if only a little. "Love."

Aurelia: | Aurelia is sitting with a... not so small child. A child of seven, that is, a child with darker skin then Aurelia's, with pointed ears and a quietly sloping face.

Jack Buchanan looks to the child. "..Is that?"

Jack Buchanan: "..That's her."

Andria totes blocks Roth's path.

Jack Buchanan looks like maybe he's tearing up a little.

Aurelia: | Aurelia looks up. There is a pause. A quietness, until she starts to shake. She reaches out and messes with the child's hair, and then stands, walking to Jack.

Jack Buchanan drops the phaser off his belt. It clatters on the floor of her quarters.

Aurelia: "I have to get rid of this tattoo, damn it. Do you know how painful that is going to be?" | She is shaking.

Jack Buchanan tries to laugh. He raises a hand to touch her cheek, but.. doesn't touch her. It's been long enough for her that.. he doesn't know if it's okay anymore. It's as if he's waiting for confirmation.

Jack Buchanan: "I'm.. sorry doesn't begin to cut it."

Aurelia doesn't say much. She... pauses. Looks quickly to Andria, then back to Jack. "I knew it wasn't your fault, from the beginning."

Jack Buchanan | Jack's hand still hovers next to Aurelia's cheek, still waiting for confirmation. "We should have tried harder. We shouldn't have let you get pulled in in the first place. If.. If I had listened to the Caitain-

Jack Buchanan: "I.." He looks like he's about to collapse, but he manages not to. "I am so, so sorry."

Aurelia: | She does nothing. Finally: "Caitians are dumbasses, we both know that.." She steps back. "Has Nakar given over command back to me yet?" | Behind her, the little Romulan girl plays with a PADD, like

Aurelia: she knows nothing else.

Jack Buchanan: "What happened?"

Jack Buchanan: "Why is he in command to begin with?"

Jack Buchanan speaks to Aurelia, but.. his gaze drifts to the little girl.

Aurelia almost... trembles. "We have seven years' of data regarding this anomaly. He'll send it over posthaste. I..." She pauses. "We had a difference as to what we should do, when Osiangli died."

Aurelia: | The little girl obviously knows nothing is wrong. She's totally playing a game.

Jack Buchanan lowers his hand, realizing that no confirmation is coming. His hand clasps at his side, shaking. "I.. You don't have to tell me all of it now. There's.. time." He winces at the word, his gaze ~

Jack Buchanan: ~ still locked on the child. "..I was right."

Jack Buchanan: "She's amazing."

Jack Buchanan | Actual, human tears are quietly filling Jack's eyes. "I missed it. I missed all of it. I swore that I'd get it right this time. I.." He trails off.

Aurelia: | The girl looks up. She looks at Jack, and then rises, walking over to her mother, like she's sure nobody will ever, ever hurt her. She blinks up at him. She looks so much like him.

Aurelia: | Aurelia just pauses. Her face is blank. Her voice: full of emotion.

Jack Buchanan covers his mouth. "..We made an amazing kid, Aurelia." Oops- one of those tears escapes. Streams down his cheek. He kneels down to the child. "..Hey, baby girl." He manages the weakest of smiles.

Aurelia: "Jack, this is Verelan. Verelan, this is... " She pauses. She can't finish. She steps back and puts her hand in front of her mouth, her eyes.

Aurelia: | Verelan turns her head and regards Jack, and says nithing.

Jack Buchanan: "Verelan, I'm- I'm your dad." Jack kind of.. collapses backwards, falling on his ass. He sits, resting his arms on his knees. "And I'm going to spend the rest of my life making up for what I missed."

Jack Buchanan sits in a Lounge chair.

Jack Buchanan sits down.

Jack Buchanan: "You look so beautiful. Just like your mom."

Aurelia looks at Aurelia, and then looks at Jack, then back to Aurelia, who is... covering her mouth, her eyes, trying not to... look weak in front of the others. She looks at Jack. "... You look like the pictures," she finally offers. "And the stories.

Aev motions to the door, "They in there?"

Andria looks to Aev, giving him a nod, "Is it vital? They're having a private moment."

Aev: "Yes, it's quite vital."

Jack Buchanan: "I'm sorry it took so long for us to meet, Verelan."

Andria eyeballs Aev a bit, "One moment, Erien." She actvates her communicator.

Aev looks pissed. Very pissed. Which is rare enough.

Jack Buchanan: "I'm not the only one, either. Your sister- your.." He looks to Aurelia, managing something resembling a laugh. "..Would Rellir be her aunt or her first cousin?"

Andria doesn't care how angry Aev looks at the moment.

Aurelia: | Verelan looks at Jack, then to Aurelia, then... "You're my father. You."

Jack Buchanan nods. "I am."

Aurelia: | Aurelia still has her hand to her mouth. She... breathes in, and answers, her eyes never leaving jack.

Jack Buchanan: "First cousin once removed. That's what I was looking for." He looks like he's struggling to maintain even this level of non-composure. "Aunt Rellir will want to meet you too, is what I'm trying to say."

Jack Buchanan: "Uncle Davin, and.."

Jack Buchanan: "Aev."

Jack Buchanan: "Uncle Ahnar."

Jack Buchanan: "But.. right now- just me."

Aurelia looks up, over Jack's shoulder. "Aev..." A pause. "Let him come in." To Jack: "She's really an intelligent person, she's hit the top in...." Aurelia covers her mouth.

Andria nods to Aev, and moves aside.

Aurelia: | Verelan just blinks at Jack. "... Where did you come from?"

Aev strolls in, taking things at a glance, he looks to Aurelia. No time for plesantries, "I need a list of the crew by faction."

Andria is like a rottweiler-velociraptor hybrid when it comes to keeping the cabin free of anyone who does not belong there.

Jack Buchanan: "A- a planet called Earth. I'm sure your moth-" He stops himself. "That's not what you meant, is it?"

Aurelia trembles just... slightly. Just. She gets to her knees, then reaches out and grabs Jack's head, holds it close, whispers in his ear. Stands. Looks at Aev. "Interface with Andria." She indicates

Aev: "Your command codes, did Nakar have them removed?"

Aurelia: the guard-android. "I will need my codes restored. Do not arrest Nakar. He did what he thought was right. He should never command a ship again.

Aurelia: "

Aurelia nods. "He did." She pauses. "There were deaths, Erein. Held in the torpedo tubes."

Aurelia: | Verelan blinks up at Jack. "Andria told me all about Earth. You're from England."

Aev: "Very well. I'll be taking command of what's left. We'll catch up later."

Jack Buchanan just quietly nods in response to Aurelia's comment. "I am. London, as a point of fact."

Jack Buchanan: "It's an awful place, and I promise that I'll never take you there."

Jack Buchanan: "Unless you want me to."

Aurelia: | Verelan's comment. The dark half-Romulan is looking up at him. "... Mom told me that when you came back we'd to to mol'Rihan."

Aurelia: | Aurelia is getting up, now, and she drags her hand once through his hair as she rises and walks towards Aev and the interface.

Jack Buchanan: "We will. We have land there. And.. well, I wouldn't call it a house. Not yet."

Jack Buchanan shakes his head. "It's beautiful. Like you."

Aurelia: | Verelan looks at him. His hand, his chin, his face. She is seven, and still a child. "You have a ship, too," she says.

Aurelia looks at Aev. "You need to get the Admiral on the line."

Andria guards the door.

Aurelia: "Nobody here should be prosecuted. But." She looks towards the readout. "He cannot be allowed to go."

Aev: "i will, after this situation is under some semblance of order."

Aurelia: "Order means you have Nakar apprehended, erein."

Aev: "I'm going to assume command and cross deck what's left of the crew to Starfleet ships for evaluation."

Aev: "That's next on my list."

Aurelia: "You will do no such thing." She steps forward. "This is my ship." Funny. Is that a mourning tattoo?

Jack Buchanan: "I do. The Robau. You'll get to see her too, soon."

Aev: "Not anymore. You're seven years removed from command. In an unfit emotional state. This is not up for discussion."

Aurelia lifts her hand to her forehead, brushes back her hair in exasperation... that's a mourning tattoo for sure. She looks at Verelan, then to Aev. "Just as long as you know that Nakar was wrong."

Jack Buchanan seems to be ignoring the conversation behind him, focused on interacting with the adorable child in front of him.

Aev: "I do. Things will be sorted out. Go back to your family. I'll handle it."

Aev turns on his heel and leaves, he's got A LOT to do.

Aurelia: | The adorable child is ignoring everything but Jack. "*You're* my father," she repeats.

Andria looks to Aev, and also keeps an eye on Robinson.

Aev: "I'll need a crew list by faction."

Robinson: "Excuse me, I'm looking for Enrien Aev. Do you know where I can find him?"

Aev: "That's me, one moment Captain."

Andria: "You'll have it within the quarter hour."

Jack Buchanan smiles. And this time, it isn't strained, or weak. Something about her saying it- it makes it real. "I am."

Aev: "Thank you.

Andria goes back to guard dogging the cabin.

Jack Buchanan takes a moment, removing his jacket, dropping it on the floor over his phaser.

Aurelia: "Miss Aaaandria," she begins to wail.

Aev: "Captain. Thanks for coming. I'm going to have Stafleet security teams sweep this ship and ensure everyone make it to a med bay."

Andria suddenly turns and enters the cabin, the door latching, "I am here, little one."

Robinson: "Dakota has Medical, Engineering, and Security teams on stand by, and a treiage facility set up. Can you tell me what happened here?"

Aurelia: | Aurelia, Aev gone, looks back at the rest of the room, and... hangs back.

Andria looks to Jack, "Why is she crying, what did you do?!"

Aev: "In a moment." he pauses, "I have an announcement to make."

Aev taps his Comm

Robinson nods.

Aurelia: | Verelan starts to cry. "He can't be... can't be... not a person....

Aurelia: "

Andria motions to Verelan with a wave of her hand, "Calm now."

Jack Buchanan: "I.." The smile- that warm smile that he had a moment earlier, vanishes. "I.."

Aurelia looks up. Hears Aev's voice.

Aurelia starts to shake. "... This is MY ship..."

Keth walks up to Aev. "Hello erein. Permission to take control of sickbay?"

Aev: "Doctor, can you ensure all crew members and officers are evaluated?"

Andria looks to Aurelia, "Let him help, he knows who commands this ship."

Keth nods. "Yep, can do."

Aev: "Thank you. Captain, your teams will be needed to ensure the ship is fully sweeped. Full access, don't leave anyone behind."

Aurelia seems to calm down at Andria's wave. Then, looks back to Jack. "But you're so new."

Aev: "Ensign, prioritize a list of repairs and talk with the ships engineer when he's been cleared."

Aurelia: | Aurelia's stalking the door.

Robinson nods. "I'll have them transport over immedietly."

James Roth: "Already done, sir. We're just patching up vital systems to get to civilization."

Jack Buchanan: "You're so old." He lets out a laugh. "There as.. an accident. Has your mother ever explained.. what happened? Where I was?"

Keth gestures back to the sickbay limply with a hand. "Soo...should I go ahead to the sickbay?"

Andria gives Aurelia a look then looks back to Veleran.

Aurelia seems to make a decision, and then goes over to sit down to Jack and Verelan. She grabs both of them by the head, attempts to bring them both in, sitting there.... "Are you kidding, Jack? We've

Keth gestures to the door to the left. "Also, do you want the people in there to be inspected?"

Aev: "Perfect. The D'Ishae will handle any singularity mantience when it arrives."to Keth, "Not a good idea, te gear there is horrid. We need to get these people to real medical facilities."

James Roth scratches his left cheek as he says, "I'm going to beam back to the Robau and assist with coordinating Engineering efforts from there. The fewer people we have in ground zero, the better."

Aurelia: been waiting for this from the moment we realized we were immobile."

Aev shakes his head, "Not yet, give them some time."

Keth gives a thumbs up. "Alright."

Aev: "Good call Ensign, thank you."

Aurelia: "Andria made us realize what was going on."

Keth goes back to sickbay.

James Roth offers a salute, then turns to head for the transporter room

Aurelia sits down.

Robinson: "So, Commander, what happened here?"

Andria: "I explained temporal displacement anomolies, it was a simple matter." She moves to the far console, giving them space.

Aev to Robinson, "The ship investigated some form of anomaly. It was trapped within, and seven years passed while those of ous on the outside tried to get them out."

Aev: "For us it was only half an hour to an hour."

Andria pretends this isn't a replicator and gets Aev his list.

Robinson: "Seven years?"

Aev: "Correct."

Robinson: "...When exactly did they get stuck?"

Aev: "To you and me, about three hours ago."

Andria unseals the door and walks out to Aev and Robinson, offering Aev the PADD wordlessly.

Jack Buchanan nods.

Aev takes it with a nod.

Aev: "Thank you."

Andria: "You're welcome, Erien."

Robinson stares at the Commander in disbelief. "Seriously...?" She rubs her temple.

Aurelia just reaches for Jack's head, and for Verelan's, and draws them both in, quietly, saying nothing at firs.

Aurelia: first.

Aev: "So you can see the nightmare situation I'm trying to deal with. I appreciate your help."

Robinson: "Can this ship even fly on it's own?"

Jack Buchanan is.. relatively silent, aside from a mildly sniffy nose.

Aurelia: "You have funny ears, Dad," says Verelan, finally.

Aev: "We'll do our best, but that's part of the reason I'm cross decking the whole crew. I can't vouch for the space worthness of this ship."

Aurelia: | She will even reach out to touch them.

Andria glances over the the family, speaking to Aurelia, "Is there anything you'd like me to do while we wait for transport back to the starbase?"

Robinson: "Want my advise?"

Jack Buchanan: "I do. They're weird, and they're round, and they can do this.." He turns his head, wiggling his ears.

Aev: "Always."

Robinson: "Shut it all down, abandon the ship. Have it towed home. We have two Starfleet ships. Seperate the factions.'

Aev nods, "Good call. Once we get everyone off and the computer secured I'll have D'Ishae's engineers shut things down."

Aurelia: | Verelan blinks, takes it in, and ... giggles. "That's funny." Aurelia, however, is.... looking up at Andria. "Do what you can to help Erein Aev. Food for everyone, make sure they're eating...."

Andria nods and then looks to Veleran, "I know you're excited, but don't think I've forgotten about your quiz, you will take it tomorrow, in light of your father's arrival."

Jack Buchanan: "Someday, I'll teach you how to do that. It takes a lot of practice."

Aurelia: | V makes a face at Andria and looks back at Jack. "... Now. Mama can't do that. Teach me now. It's better than smelly Andria."

Andria smirks and walks out of the cabin.

Jack Buchanan pauses for a moment, as if he's just had some sort of realization. He lets out a.. wel, it's somewhere between a laugh and a cackle. "..I just realized something." He looks to Aurelia. "Rellir is ~

Aurelia: "Vere," she immediately says to Verelan. "You'll apologize."

Jack Buchanan: ~ so going to blame me for this."

Jack Buchanan: *well

Jack Buchanan looks back to Andria. "Anne's a robot. Can't smell. Think of a better insult."

Jack Buchanan: "Make sure you tailor your quips to your target."

Keth walks up and seeds Anne/Andria. "What....happened to you?"

Andria is already gone, luckily for Jack.

Aurelia: | Aurelia quiets. "I made the decision to check out the anomaly. Rellir will blame me."

Keth *sees

Andria looks to Keth, "Seven years."

Keth looks her up and down and simply remakrs. "You should try green, blue doesn't suit you." she looks to Aev. "Erein, can you help me escort the CMO out of sickbay? He's punching walls."

Andria: "Elements be damned!" She looks to Aev, "I have this."

Aev nods, "Thank you, Centurion."

Andria: "Let's go, Doctor."

Keth raises a brow. "So, you follow the elements now."

Jack Buchanan looks intently at the little girl before him. "I'll show you how on the way back to the station. It takes a lot of practice."

Robinson: "I won't keep you Commander. If you need me, I'll be on the comms."

Aev nods, "Very well, thank you Captian."

Aev: Captain*))

Aurelia: | Aurelia stays quiet, leaning her head into Jack's. Verelan pokes at the PADD. "Are you really my dad?"

Aurelia sits down.

Jack Buchanan shakes his head. "I'm actually three tellarites in a trench coat."

Jack Buchanan: "We're named Orgnar, Borgnar, and Herbert."

Aurelia: | Aurelia shoves her hand in front of her mouth and smothers laughter. Verelan takes a few more seconds to figure it out, and them... "You are not three tellarites in a trench coat! Not!"

Jack Buchanan: "That's very offensive. Apologize to Herbert."

Jack Buchanan laughs. "That was a joke. Tellarites don't have feelings."

Aurelia: | Aurelia stays quiet, biting her finger. Verelan: "No! There's no Herbert, there's just YOU."

Jack Buchanan: "You've found me out." He points to Aurelia. "This one's taught you well."

Aurelia: "She's smart," Aurelia says, quietly. "... Very smart."

Jack Buchanan nods. "Must've gotten all of your genes, then."

Aurelia looks up. "Aev will probably have taken my ship by now...." she says, without amusement.

Aurelia: | "Genes are passed on," Verelan says, as if repeating a lesson.

Jack Buchanan: "..Has she been eating?" He looks to Aurelia, acknowledging but not asking the obvious follow up question- has /she/ been eating?"

Jack Buchanan: (Ignore that last quotation mark.)

Aurelia: "None of us have been eating," she says, quietly. "That's why Nakar is sitting in my chair."

Aev strolls up to Jack and family, "Captain Buchanan, we need to get your family to sickbay. They need to be evaluated."

Aev the more subtle undertone is that Jack needs to be a Starfleet Captain again.

Aurelia reaches out and squeezes Jack's wrist, smiling at him, before she stands up. "I need to talk to Command before anything else, erein." She... wavers.

Aev: "You'll have a meeting with the Khre'Riov /after/ you've been medically cleared. We're not going to take any chances, okay?"

Jack Buchanan exhales, nodding. He stands up, grabbing his jacket. He bends over towards Verelan. "Do you want a piggy-back-ride?"

Aurelia: | "What's a piggy-back-ride?" says the Romulan child.

Jack Buchanan looks to Aurelia. "..You have been derelict in your duties."

Aurelia: Aurelia stares at Aev. "... I'm fine," she says, wavering. Then: "Verelan..." A pause. "Do the ride."

Aurelia: | Verelan looks up at Jack, apparently willing to go on the ride.

Aev in a reversal for the ages, /he/ gives Aurelia the look.

Jack Buchanan turns himself, allowing Verelan to climb on his back. He stands up.

Aurelia stays where she is, wavering, as Verelan clambers onto the back of... well, if not 'dad,' then the person Mother has trusted with that name.

Aurelia: | Verelan grins down at Jack. "Ride!"

Aev looks to Jack, "I trust you'll take them to sickbay?"

Jack Buchanan holds his hand out, a pinky sticking up. "Pinky promise."

Aurelia doesn't seem to want to go anywhere.

Andria enters the frey.

Aurelia: "I will see you in a moment, Jack," she says.

Aurelia: "You get to know Verelan."

Andria: "I should accompany them, unless you need me here, Subcommander."

Aev shakes his head, not going for the pinky promise, "I'm sure you understand the urgency of the situation Captain."

Aurelia: "Please accompany Verelan and her father, Andria," she says, quietl.

Aurelia: quietly.

Andria nods then looks to Jack first then Verelan, "Shall we?"

Jack Buchanan: "I do." He looks to Andria. Verelan is on his back, in case you missed that emote. "Lead the way."

Aurelia looks at Andria. "Are we going to see Jo-shon? Jo-shon! Jo-shon!"

Andria: "Are we to transport to your ship, or remain here for now?" She asks Jack.

Aurelia watches her family go, and then turns her gaze to Aev. "Is Nakar dead?"

Aev: "Of course not. He's being treated aboard the Dakota, as is the rest of the crew."

Andria looks to Veleran, "We will see him, I just spoke to him."

Jack Buchanan: "To the Robau."

Aurelia darkens. "... He took the ship from me. You know what you must do."

Andria nods to Jack, "Okay. We're going to father's ship now, little one."

Aurelia: | Verelan's fists will find purchase in Jack's uniform. "Father's ship?"

Aev shakes his head slowly. His expression is more sad then anything, "You are not in the Empire anymore. You will both be subject to an investigation by Republic Command."

Andria: "The very same." She leads the way to the turbolift.

Jack Buchanan turns his head, speaking to his daughter. "The Robau."

Jack Buchanan: "We have food, and colours other than green. It's amazing."

Andria: "Transporter room."

Andria: "Yes, little one, it's like I said, on the Starfleet ships, everything is blue, or white, or grey."

Jack Buchanan: "Not true. The Robau has yellow and purple."

Andria: "See, they have yellow and purple too." She smirks.

Jack Buchanan | The turbolift turbos them.

Andria: | Lift door opens, and Andria leads.

Andria: "Are you ready, little one?"

Jack Buchanan | Verelan nods.

Andria nods, then nods again to Jack.

Andria looks to the transporter officer, "Three to the Robau."
