The Beginning...
On the 8th of October 2335 the U.S.S. Resolution was launched from Copernicus fleet yards at Luna, one of the last Excelsior class starships to be constructed. She was placed under the command of Captain Damien Lestrade and set on a mission of planetary survey and exploration in the Alpha quadrant.
The Cardassian Border Wars...
Following the Setlik III Massacre in 2347, the Resolution was assigned to the Federation-Cardassian border where she remained during the Federation-Cardassian border wars.
In 2355 the Resolution responded to a distress call from a Camorite ship under attack from Cardassian warships. On arrival it was found that the Camorite vessel had been boarded and her crew killed some weeks prior, the distress call had been generated by Cardassian forces who had set up an ambush for aid rendering Starfleet vessels. Captain Lestrade and first officer T'larni were killed in the skirmish and the Resolution severely hampered, however survived under the command of helm officer Lieutenant Eli Thomas who successfully piloted the Resolution through the Amarin Asteroid field, evading the Cardassian task force. Lieutenant Thomas was awarded a Starfleet Decoration for Gallantry. //Award Stripped from Recipient\\
Captain Lamar Defoe was given command of the Resolution following repairs at starbase 375 in 2356. Resolution was involved in several skirmishes and encounters throughout the duration of the war with the Cardassians.
Up until the 2370s the U.S.S. Resolution remained in patrol of the Federation-Cardassian border following armistice and eventual peace settlements. The Resolution was one of many Starfleet vessels operating in the war that saw defection of crew to the Maquis in connection with the ongoing border disputes. As such the Resolution was reassigned to the core worlds as well as much of the crew being reassigned in an attempt to break up any defection or mutiny planning and to better keep an eye on potential collaborators or recruiters.
