Anti-Yyalo Uihvu Defensive Recommendations

SUBJ Anti-Yyalo Uihvu Defensive Recommendations

Captain,

Following my investigation into the surprise attack by the Yyalo Uihvu I have drafted several recommendations to improve the security of the ship in further encounters with this hostile species.

First, to the matter of their bypassing of our shields to transport themselves aboard, my investigation has revealed that they were able to match the frequency of our shields. Either they have sensors far beyond ours, or others we have encountered, or more likely they utilized their telepathy to gain that knowledge. In either case, we can utilize tactics similar to those facing the Borg. The ship’s shield frequency can be kept on an automated remodulation sequence. Telepathy would be of no help if the modulation of our shields is constantly changing, and even superior sensors wouldn’t allow them to keep up with the changes.

In the matter of overcoming their telepathic advantages, I recommend that we look into utilizing technology created to combat the Undine. 8472 Counter-Command developed personal shields that are capable of shielding from telepathy. I recommend all security personnel have their personal shield generators altered to those specifications. In addition, I recommend that more of Doctor Jhitel’s inoculations are created and dispersed. Not only would they be useful in keeping our own telepathic crewmembers from being controlled by the Yyalo, we may be able to create some sort of weaponized delivery system to use it against the Yyalo and create chaos among their ranks by depriving them of their telepathic abilities, and possibly aid in capturing prisoners to be questioned. It could also be utilized against crewmembers that have fallen under telepathic control, in order to avoid incapacitating them in the process of pacifying them.

In the matter of their seeming immunity to phaser-fire, I recommend the use of TR-116B Rifles. It has proven effective against the similar defenses of the Borg, and I believe the Yyalo will fair no better against high-velocity, transported rounds. Phaser remodulation may make our standard weaponry more effective, but we cannot be certain until we have fully inspected the technology left behind on the corpses of the Yyalo killed in the defense of the Axiom. It is likely that they have used the same technology they use to shrug off phaser beams to protect themselves in ship to ship battle. I recommend we utilize remodulation with Axiom’s phaser arrays as well.

Previous reports involving the Yyalo Uihvu have postulated that they may make widespread use of Trelium D as an intoxicant. If the Doctor’s autopsy can confirm this, perhaps she can develop a way to take advantage of their addiction, possibly in conjunction with the weaponized inoculations discussed above.

Our Romulan allies have also put forth a suggestion that I believe has great merit, and should be looked into further. Subcommander Mhai passed along a data-crystal with details of a radioactive isotope that she discovered causes pain and debilitation among the Yyalo Uihvu. She has furthermore supplied details to manufacture localized field generators to utilize this isotope. I recommend we begin creating these field generators and outfitting security teams with them. Perhaps we can find other uses for the isotope as well, for instance a modification to add it to our phasers.

I further recommend that we station security teams to secure key areas such as Engineering and the bridge against further assault, in addition to those stationed at all hangars, shuttle bays, and transporter rooms. These teams should not include any telepathic species.

I have considered the use of transporter inhibitors in key areas, but I do not believe the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. They would make use of the TR-116B Rifles in those areas unlikely, as well as hindering emergency transport, should the need arise.
