Stardate: 93135.2Rogue Klingon battlegroup IncursionReport Submitted: CAPT Konieczko, D.Classification Level 1 - Open

On Stardate 93130.4, Deep Space 13 went to yellow alert due to a rogue faction within the Klingon Empire crossing into Federation space. Admiral Perim dispatched a taskforce that I was instructed to lead consisting of both Federation and Romulan vessels to intercept the rogue fleet estimated at 25 vessels of varying class.

Once the task force was assembled it rallied near the Cernan system on the border of the Donatu and Kassae sectors. When we arrived at the border we found a second Klingon battlegroup approaching federation space. The taskforce was informed to hold fire unless hostile action was taken at which point only fire to disable weapon systems.

A loose formation was taken and communication with the Klingon vessels was attempted. as we were broadcasting we caught open broadcasts between the Klingon ships. It became apparent soon enough there were two factions at play. One acting rogue of the Empire and one sent by the Empire to prevent a war.
Spoiler: Show
Konieczko: <C> Klingon battlegroup, this is the U.S.S. Vanguard. You are far within Federation borders, please respond.

Krag: <C> Nagh'Sor Shut down you engines and prepeare to be boarded

D'Nar: <C> This is IKS Blood River. We are under orders to stop a rogue fleet.

NPC: <C> This is the IKS Nagh'Sor. We have claimed this sector for the glory of the Klingon Empire! Withdraw or be destroyed!

Krag: <C> Nag'Sor you have no standing and do not speak for the council or High command.

The Nag'Sor seemed to be on a warpath and ordered a formation change preparing for an attack. The Taskforce held steady until the Nag'Sor's battlegroup split into three forces. One heading for those loyal to the Empire, one towards the taskforce and one continuing towards the Kassae system.

The Vanguard, Rebellion and Shadowfax took a barrage of fire from incoming birds of prey as the rest of the battlegroup pushed forward. Any attempts to disable weapon systems only overpowered the klingon vessels forcing them to either turn back or be destroyed. With the initial skirmish dealt with, with minimum damages the full taskforce went forward to stop the Klingons heading for Kassae.

Upon arriving the lesser vessels were quickly dispatched, destroyed or sent back towards the border. The Nagh'Sor and it's captain however kept fighting against the full taskforce and the rebel hunting Klingon battlegroup. Before taking enough fire to destroy it, the Nagh'Sor sent a barrage of torpedoes was sent towards the Vanguard. Evasive maneuvers were attempted but ineffective. Shields were knocked down and we started moving towards the rear to take a more defend-able position. Stopping short however once discovering a battalions worth of Klingons took advantage of our lowered shields by boarding.

Our own security forces were effective enough only to hold the boarding parties back. One force split into two, attempting to take the bridge and plant a bomb in the main engineering compartment. In the cross fire of defending the bridge our communications systems were damaged preventing us from relaying further information effectively. Additional security teams from the Myanmar, Shadowfax, and the Helios beamed aboard to provide assistance. Myanmar assisted on the bridge, Shadowfax in main engineering and the Helios through the halls.

With the assistance of those other teams the Vanguard was able to resecure leaving a bomb in our main engineering. One ship attempted to beam it out causing it to deal massive damage to primary engineering decks. No hull breach but significant damage was done.

More stability checks on the Vanguard were done and I ruled it was still able to continue with the mission. Our goal now to get this second battlegroup back into the Empire's space. In transit there we met with several of the commanding officers of those loyal to the Empire on the 'Blood River'. Once aboard and led to a conference room we sat across a table from Commander D'Nar of the Blood River and sitting on either side of her Captain K'Minti and Captain K'Vok.

We were informed that this force made up of Strike Force Kargas was dispatched by the Empire to stop the rogue fleet representing House Telok, who are a lesser house and cut all ties to the empire. They were uncertain the reason anyone would back them or supply them with ships. We were assured that House Telok would be dealt with by the empire for it's actions. As we approached the border we returned to our ships and back to DS13.

Additionally just yesterday I received information from the Klingon Intelligence officer we met on the Blood River in regards to House Telok, find that attached.

Damage reports from the Vanguard are significant and it will take some time to return to it's active duties.

I apologize for the delay in this report, something of this magnitude should have been filed sooner but I've found myself pre-occupied in the sickbay.
