Regarding our subject;

Cause of death was determined to be a wound by sharp projectile to the sternum. The material of said projectile is unique in original to the gamma quadrant, reviewing substances on file in Republic databanks.

No identifying markings could be located. The subject was free of foreign genetic material. His genetic material is not in the Republic database for identification.

Of note: The uniform is unfamiliar. After some scanning of the patch from the uniform and review of the imprint, I've used public databases to conclude that the patch is an identifier of the 'Independent' Romulan colony of Terix II. This is likely why he's not on file. He's not Romulan and therefore not in our medical systems.

His disruptor is noted as having been discharged once.

Communications from his comm-unit were directed again to the Terix colony. There are apparently frequencies and communications stored in the unit. My team were unable to gain access but if we get a dedicated officer on this we can likely gain access.

No other unusual items occurred in the course of autopsy. The body and its organs are currently being held in stasis aboard the R.R.W. Aensai. Please inform me if access is needed.

Thue,

The Terix situation is rather complicated. Given it's distance from Republic Space, it's value (or rather lack of) and the difficulties with logistical supply or patroling the Senate is unlikely to care. We're unlikely to get unilateral authority to intervene and in all honestly it's fairly valueless. Starfleet has been dealing with the matter seperately and I'm going to write this up for the General's attention see if she'll authorize some snooping. The limited information I've got verbally seems to indicate that the colony is a fractious mess but that's exactly the kind of problem we lack the resources to solve ourselves.

Keep the remains on ice while I chase this up through official channels. I'll get myself down to Aensai at some point tonight to Comm unit some attention. We'll see what we get out of it then.

Nymas,

I've included my notes from the conversation last night.

Please know that I met with Commander Ailes today. She is refusing further information about the scenario, stating it remains restricted to those not directly involved.

One thing that seems to have hit a nerve with the Commander is that I have possession of the body. She stated that at the time it was handed over she had assumed we were the governmental authority for the body's person. It's a reasonable assumption and I did my best to soothe her in regards to the validity of that decision.

Truthfully yes, he's not in our systems and is almost assuredly a Terix II guard but until positive identification can be made, as far as I am concerned, it's correctly placed in Aensai's storage. She didn't make a request for the body though she implied she might like it back.

Additionally, no indication of the disruptor fire was found in the surrounding environment. She wouldn't confirm whether or not they were looking into the vorta and her jem'hadar as the aggressor but that doesn't really need a confirmation.

It seems possible after our conversation this afternoon that the transporter logs and station ship logs may not have been reviewed in the initial assessment. If by some chance you're able to find involvement in further investigation due to your situation currently, perhaps this is a place to look.

I'll gladly hold onto the body for you until other official channels request otherwise. Keep me updated if you please; I do hope all goes well with your research beyond this.

Spoiler: Notes - Terix II InterviewShow
Interview with Sublieutenant Aev:

Terix II broke off from the Empire.

Until last year it wasn’t a concern due to internal conflict, neither Imperial nor Republic representatives wanted to deal with the burden of an unstable colony.

Due to the struggling among the populace the Federation stepped in and offered aid to the colony’s citizens, and this was give to DS13 to organize.

During a shipment of aid materials a rebel action took place onplanet. The USS Asimov was threatened and escaped harm.

Due to this the ruling government purged all non-natives from the planet in a military action, which also included the killing of five Starfleet officers.

The Federation responded with a blockade, the largest fleet action ever assigned in this region. All four squadrons were sent to the sector and the Republic ships were shifted to a defensive stance to fill all remaining gaps in the formation.

Sublieutenant Aev insists that at the time, Terix forces were substantial enough in number that Starfleet was outnumbered in vessels by the colony.

At least one Imperial vessel was observing the blockade, but it was not seen worth the expense to intervene.

Civil war was realized due to the blockade. The Terix government used force Starfleet found questionable to subdue the rebels. During a government raid on a civilian target, three Starfleet ships intervened after breaking formation. One ship was destroyed and two were badly damaged.

Aev states that the attacks on civilians were conducted not to quell rebellion but to provoke a response from Starfleet. Cloaked ships were in attack positions. (he coached this as a potentially unreasonable response to a blockade)

The full 38th fleet was moved to the planet as well as another fleet moved in system. Full scale conflict seemed inevitable. After a show of force an agreement was reached resulting in de-escalation of military conflict.

The blockade ended and the Federation has kept distance since.

I’m of the mind that Federation action has only served to make the situation on Terix II more unstable and potentially destructive to the Romulan forces in this region.

By their blockade and breeding of said civil war they’ve done us both a favor and a disservice; while the environment there is now more unstable, providing for less obvious infiltration, it also presents an environment wherein former Imperial vessels are now much more easily absconded with by elements who might use them to do our people a great deal of harm in the ‘image department’ to utilize the human phrase.

Aev’s estimations of their force put the available ships on equal with those of the 38th fleet:

45 combat capable vessels with 10 of a capital class.

If this number is true it is a problem.

((Thank you Dandin for having Aev be such an adorably observant smartypants <3))
