AAR - Reclamation of Irreo youth

Stardate: 93450.7Report Title: Return to 'Tower Keep' and reclamation of Irreo youngReport Submitted: CAPT Konieczko, D.Classification Level: 1 - Open

On Stardate 93450.3 the U.S.S. Vanguard returned to the 'Tower Keep' system previously identified as holding 11 irreo youths and incubators containing irreo eggs. At this point in time the incubators had been removed following the trip two days ago.

Our task was to look into the children's well being with our counseling team consisting of Lieutenant Commander Sedai, the legality of bringing them back to Deep Space 13 through the fleet's judge advocate, Commander Aloran and presenting the Irreo young with the options of their choosing to go to Echomet, or return with us to Deep Space 13 presented by Commander Sivath.

After speaking with the Emergency Medical Hologram that had been solely tasked with caring for the young we determined that the children were considered healthy given their current circumstances. Their cognitive abilities are on par for children their age. It was also discussed by our medical professional that moving the children to an unconstrained area such as a planet all at once may be highly traumatic and a difficult adjustment for them. Whereas a contained area such as another starbase would be a significantly smaller transition and less hard on them.

During this time Sedai was in the containment area with the children building a rapport speaking with them and checking on their general mental health at a glance. Our team then proceeded to move on to extend the offer to the children.

Commander Sivath had brought a parcel inventoried on the Vanguard as 'Parcel 380302', it's contents listed 11 Electrokinetic Interface Mk. V Rev 2. systems, these are are the systems designed by Lieutenant Callahan and her team on board Deep Space 13 to convert the Irreo sign language into a verbal speech. These were assembled and handed out to the children who took to them quite rapidly, it did become a bit of a distraction at points but the ability to effectively communicate was well received.

It was now that Commander Sivath laid out a very level even list of both pros and cons for both transitioning to Echomet and to Deep Space 13. The children had several questions following and all were answered in a timely and even manner. The children all conferred with each other and decided they would like to remain together on Deep Space 13.

The children and our team returned to DS13 and we began our return journey, as we proceeded deconstruction on the establishment began. We received word just after returning to port that the smuggler base had been successfully deconstructed.
