NARRATIVE: Meeting recording attached.
Spoiler: Log:Show
[8:07] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan sets a replica of his ship down on the table

[8:07] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: Evening, sit anywhere?

[8:07] Tau@xanthestar settles down in the chair and smiles. "Evening, Ma'am."

[8:07] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex sips from his cup

[8:07] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex decides to just take a seat

[8:07] Mathilda@EledriPrime moves in quietly and takes a seat. She nods respectfully to the officers attending.

[8:09] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan arches a brow at the non-white shoulder guy sitting across from him

[8:09] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex looks over to see Alistair's model, and smirks, "Man of your word I see."

[8:10] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan looks to Tadashi and nods "I am."

[8:10] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: so... the rest of the crew was busy I take it?

[8:10] Sivath@thesophist takes a seat.

[8:10] Perim@bobisgod171 rolls her eyes at the model ship, then looks back down on her PADD, "Just waiting on a few more, I believe."

[8:10] Mathilda@EledriPrime looks to Beylara, and rises, "Have my seat, Commander."

[8:10] [local] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "I thought it'd be easier to record the meeting and those intrested can access the logs and then forward their ideas."

[8:11] Jacques d'Evreux@Zenithar entered the conference room and offered a salute before taking a seat. "Captain T'Vir sends his apologies that he is unable to attend. He requested I represent the Providence in his stead."

[8:13] Beylara Ailes@dryadae blinks, and smiles at Tilly. "Thank you, Commander." She moves to the table.

[8:13] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods to Beylara as she sits down next to him

[8:14] Beylara Ailes@dryadae returns Nimitz's nod, setting her PADD before her and folding her hands in her lap.

[8:16] Jacques d'Evreux@Zenithar glanced over in Sara's direction and rose from his chair. "Take my seat, Captain."

[8:16] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 takes a spot on the wall.

[8:17] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Approaches the table with a polite smile and the sort of momentum that suggests she expects a lower ranking officer will make a spot for her. Jacques gets a warm smile for catching on ahead of time!*

[8:17] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "Thank you, Commander."

[8:17] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex sips his tea idly a bit more. Pulls out a PADD that is rolled up and straightens it, setting it in front on him.

[8:17] Sivath@thesophist 's seat is quite comfortable.

[8:18] Jacques d'Evreux@Zenithar inclined his head and took up a position against the wall.

[8:18] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Reclines slightly with one leg crossed over the other, hands folded in her lap*

[8:20] Perim@bobisgod171 sets her PADD down and presses a button, before looking around the room. "All right, let's get started."

[8:20] Tau@xanthestar nods and sets his PADD down.

[8:21] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex shifts his attention Admiral-ward

[8:21] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "Welcome to the first meeting of our diplomatic task force.

[8:22] Tau@xanthestar grins.

[8:22] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: Our goal, as you know, is to act as a think-tank, coming up with ideas on the peaceful-front. This is not the place for military solutions, so those suggestions can be made via your usual chain of

[8:23] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: command."

[8:23] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Smiles benignly!*

[8:23] Tau@xanthestar rubs at his beard. He might sneak a look at Sara at that.

[8:23] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex may have heard rumors of his squadron commander, but doesn't look her way

[8:23] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan doesnt point out the irony of him and Sara both being at the same table

[8:24] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "Most of these meetings will be open to the public, but volunteers will be given scheduling priority. At the end of the evening, we'll have a sign up sheet, for anyone who wants to be added to the

[8:24] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: list."

[8:25] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "Now, on to the matter at hand. For anyone who may be unaware, the biggest challenge we're facing at the moment is a technical one. We're unable to open communications with Species 2492 because of a

[8:27] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: weapon that they use to disable our systems via the comm system. Engineering has come up with a temporary method of protection, but Command isn't willing to risk any more lives on a mission to attempt

[8:27] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: contact. That brings us to our topic for this evening:

[8:29] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: How do we deliver a message of peace, without using the comm system, without sending our people into range. And via that message, what do we /say/ to this civilization that's most likely to bring them

[8:29] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: to the table?"

[8:29] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Looks back and forth along the table, then back to Neema* "The first logical step is figuring out if 2492 is even interested in peaceful contact, if you don't mind me stating the obvious."

[8:29] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: It is clear that traditional communicaiton methods won't work, their tactic suggest they don't want to talk. That doesn't mean a message is impossible, we might just need an atypical communication.

[8:30] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan decides to wait his turn to speak

[8:30] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: for all we know, our comm hail isn't what they see as communication attempts.. but something else.. maybe they don't use verbal communication that all.

[8:30] Tau@xanthestar leans back. "If we can figure out their regular sort of territory, we could try to take a cue from the original Voyager."

[8:31] [local] Rosewood@fireshade321: "A probe, perhaps? One that has been altered to be able to broadcast a pre-recorded message?"

[8:31] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: at all*))

[8:31] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Non-communications pictographs. More advanced than a disc, but...something relatively universal."

[8:31] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "There are examples in history of concise information being sent into space as a form of greeting and to give whoever found it a basic idea that we're friendly, and intelligent."

[8:31] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: or light patterns, using prime number sequences, or atomic structures.. things common to all physical beings

[8:31] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "The Voyager Probe's Gold Record is one such case."

[8:31] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *taps a gloved fingertip against the table, giving Tau a pensive look* "That's an excellent idea."

[8:33] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "Of course..." *leans back and regards the ceiling*

[8:33] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "We'll need to find some way to make our delivery devices as non-threatening as possible."

[8:34] [local] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "We could use a drone ship set for auto pilot."

[8:34] Tau@xanthestar smirks down at Tilly as she comes along the same idea he did, nodding. "Unfortunately we don't have cultural contexts."

[8:34] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex looks over, "Not using existing comm methods, which possible could be a sign of attack to them, or any other forms of weapons, is a good start.

[8:34] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "But we -do- know what their ships look like."

[8:34] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "We could base the visuals off of a similar design, if we're just spitballing."

[8:34] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "We could incase a class 1 probe in a synthetic covering meant to mimic an asteroid, and set it to broadcast our messages."

[8:34] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex nods to Tau, "That is why I said common elements to everything.. atomic structures, prime numbers"

[8:35] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: things anyone intelligent would know

[8:35] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *sits up a bit straighter, mouth quirked aside in uncertainty* "I'm going to sound nit-picky, but we should probably be concerned that these people are liable to take anything the wrong way."

[8:35] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "A probe or a drone might be seen as attempts at espionage."

[8:35] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 weighs what is said in silence, then looks at the Admiral. "Aside from opening fire on us, have they actually /said/ anything to us, Admiral? Something that might help us construct an appropriate +

[8:35] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: if we are worried about that then we might as well not bother

[8:35] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 + greeting?"

[8:36] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "That's awfully defeatist, Kawamori." *chuckles*

[8:36] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll quietly enters with his PADD, stepping off to the side of the room.

[8:36] Tau@xanthestar quietly takes notes, glancing around as he listens.

[8:36] [local] Sivath@thesophist: Espionage would be the most effective means of capturing a sampling of 2492 communications for the universal translator to analyze.

[8:36] Perim@bobisgod171 shakes her head, "We've had no contact from them, no."

[8:36] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: It was meant as a counter to your own statement Captain, I am not actually suggesting it

[8:36] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: I think we should do anything we can

[8:37] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "A hidden probe could also be set to collect data."

[8:37] Perim@bobisgod171 to Sara and Tadashi, "We /do/ need to be worried that they'll misinterpret our actions, but that's part of our job, to determine how they're going to respond and shape our message accordingly."

[8:37] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "Have we got any information on how they do with cloaking technology yet?"

[8:37] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Halloween's coming up. Could just leave them a big basket of interstellar candy." He mumbles as he makes another note.

[8:38] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *seems to let Tad's effort to 'counter' her roll right off her back after he clarifies his motive*

[8:38] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex smirks at Tau, "I'll bring some mochi."

[8:38] [local] Jacques d'Evreux@Zenithar: "If I may... Captain Bishop's report made mention of a "Kilur" species that may have had several encounters with Species 2492. If this is true then it is likely they have devised a means of-

[8:38] Tau@xanthestar glances to Sara. He looks to the Admiral, then back to his PADD, not wanting to speak up on Sara's question

[8:38] [local] Jacques d'Evreux@Zenithar: communication with the species."

[8:38] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "The Kilur are extinct, but we may have access to their technologies."

[8:38] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "The Republic sent a scouting mission. Their ships were unable to detect through the cloak, but they were discovered when they approached one of their planets." She looks over to Jacques, then to

[8:38] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: Tilly. "As I recall..."

[8:39] Mathilda@EledriPrime looks to Perim.

[8:39] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "There was ..." she squints a little, "We were able to recover a Kilur database from one of their planets. We've explored their homeworld, so it may be worth sending a team to see if there's anything

[8:39] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: relevant to learn from there."

[8:40] Tau@xanthestar apparantly didn't read that report. He nods and raises his eyebrows, making another note.

[8:40] Mathilda@EledriPrime nods, "I was part of the team that decoded that system. I'm willing to help however I can, Admiral."

[8:40] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *rubs at the back of her neck and frowns thoughtfully*

[8:40] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex also didn't know about the Kilur connection at all, he must have been busy

[8:41] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "If we could get a sample of their text it'd go a long way."

[8:41] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Imagine there must be something left behind."

[8:41] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: if they even have text.. we have so little information on him starting at the most basic might be our best option for now

[8:41] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: on them*))

[8:42] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 puts an idea out into the airwaves, "...this weapon they used... they utilized comms to use it. Are we certain it is a weapon? What if they were communicating, but accidently caused damage instead?

[8:42] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "We could employ the help of Commander Moon, and other skilled linguists to help us with figuring out how to talk to them, before we figure out, /how/ to talk to them."

[8:43] Perim@bobisgod171 nods, "There may be nothing to find, but it's a lead we didn't have yesterday. She points to Jacques and then Tilly, "See me after the meeting, please." To Giuseppe, "That's a very good point,

[8:43] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "If that's the problem, lets go stone-age. We find out if they have some kind of character or phrase for "friendship", phaser it into an asteroid, and tractor it someplace they're liable to notice it.

[8:43] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "Aye."

[8:43] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "

[8:43] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: Lieutenant. We don't /know/ for sure that it was a weapon, but it certainly seemed to be used as one."

[8:43] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Doesn't do 'subtle'*

[8:43] [local] Jacques d'Evreux@Zenithar: "Yes, Admiral."

[8:44] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex looks at Sara, "I figure representations of common elements might be simpler, we don't need a character of text then."

[8:45] Tau@xanthestar leans back in his chair and taps his foot. "They might not even be corporeal. Universal elements will be difficult without some kind of basis."

[8:45] [local] Sivath@thesophist: If we could learn more about the relationship between Kilur and Species 2492, we might better understand the motivations of the latter.

[8:45] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: I know it doesn't facilitate much information transfer.. but math and physics are universal for most people.

[8:46] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "Lets see about finding if they have a written language before we try to make them understand our numerals."

[8:46] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: That is true Captain Theissen, but we need to start somewhere.

[8:46] [local] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "Well.. the Kilur are all dead, and the 2492 are not.. it's possible that the 2492 killed the Kilur."

[8:46] Mathilda@EledriPrime blinks, "No..."

[8:46] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 nods at Perim, then replies, "Perhaps it is worth going over all the data on these comms systems during the attacks? Looking for patters that suggest language, though..." He frowns, "...not much +

[8:46] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "That was us."

[8:46] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 + of a linguist, sadly."

[8:46] Tau@xanthestar looks around.

[8:47] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Hold on, what? -Starfleet- killed a species?"

[8:47] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: you can depict prime numbers in many forums besides text.. light flashes... pulsars give off very measured spin rates.. all things we could maybe use

[8:47] Tau@xanthestar pauses the conference with a hand up, staring down the table at Tilly

[8:47] Sivath@thesophist pinches the bridge of his nose.

[8:47] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "Yeah I'd like to hear more about that." *she raises a hand slightly*

[8:47] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Can we step back? I'm unfamiliar with the Kilur, but..."

[8:47] [local] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll: "I'll forward you both the reports."

[8:47] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "It was an accident, sorta. Look up files on the Halcyon incident."

[8:47] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan arches a brow

[8:47] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Well it seems to me if we -killed- a species they knew they might have a darn good reason not to like us."

[8:47] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "That could complicate things immensely."

[8:48] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "Cliffnotes version - how sorry are we?" *suddenly badly wants a drink*

[8:48] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "Could this species be some sort of descendent race of the Kilur? Could this weapon be their version of the Halcyon worm?"

[8:48] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: Hmm.. this is news to me too... that could mean something for sure..

[8:48] Rosewood@fireshade321 leans back in his seat and listens in silence.

[8:48] Mathilda@EledriPrime shrugs, "Just thinking aloud."

[8:48] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: clearly I have some back reading too.. if someone could provide a summary to view later perhaps?

[8:49] [local] Sivath@thesophist: The virus does not attack in a similar fashion, but much may change in 150 years.

[8:49] Tau@xanthestar turns to look from down the table, then to Perim. He leans back in his chair, looking much more confused and uncertain now.

[8:49] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "We're also not using the FERG." She says to Sivath.

[8:49] Perim@bobisgod171 folds her hands on the table. "This is a good line of questioning, however..."

[8:50] Mathilda@EledriPrime falls silent.

[8:50] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *shrugs and leans back in her seat, looking down at her PADD to look that information up* "Irrelevant, agreed. How's that asteroid idea strike you, admiral?"

[8:50] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *might be sketching an asteroid with a smiley face*

[8:50] Mathilda@EledriPrime eyes Sara with a light smirk.

[8:51] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "For the moment, we don't actually have a definitive link between the Kilur and 2492. If we find that link, we can come back to this. For now..."

[8:51] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex rubs his eyes slightly and takes a sip of his drink

[8:51] Beylara Ailes@dryadae has remained silent, but is taking copious notes on her PADD as she listens.

[8:51] [local] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan: "We assume that the 2492 won't be offended if we mistakenly write something vulger in their language."

[8:51] Perim@bobisgod171 nods to Sara, hurling an asteroid at them probably isn't a good idea, especially not until we can communicate in /their/ language."

[8:51] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Looks up and blinks* "Right."

[8:51] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "So lets get on that."

[8:52] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll taps on his PADD a few times and sends a PADD beep over to Tau.

[8:52] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Desimone's idea is a variation on the Voyager Probe idea." He laughs a little. "The key point we're coming down to is communication."

[8:52] Tau@xanthestar looks down as his PADD beeps and pulls Koni's helpful files p

[8:52] [local] Tau@xanthestar: up*

[8:52] Mathilda@EledriPrime purses her lips a moment.

[8:52] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: and Admiral, the idea of simplistic universal communication methods as a starting point until we have a way past the language barrier?

[8:54] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 looks at Perim, "Is information on this comms systems 'weapon' available for analysis? Don't have a very heavy collar, so, figured I would ask." He offers a light chuckle.

[8:54] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "All data was destroyed, our teams have been working on it but I don't believe they've been successful in any recovery."

[8:54] Perim@bobisgod171 nods to Tadashi, "Showing them that we're interested in talking, even without being able to say anything specific, may be a good place to start, I agree."

[8:55] Perim@bobisgod171 motions Tau's answer to Giuseppe.

[8:55] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: I, and my crew, could look into a few options for that to report to you later if you'd like.

[8:56] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "again, and forgive me - specificity, whenever we're able, is VITAL."

[8:56] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 nods slowly, shifting his gaze to Tau. "/All/ destroyed? Good God." He seems quite shocked.

[8:56] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "We can try to guess what they'd understand and hope they take our meaning right, or we can wait a little longer and try for something they're less likely to take as further provocation."

[8:57] Tau@xanthestar nods at him, glancing Sivath-ward because he's a curreny yellow-stripe. "It was an efficient virus from the reports."

[8:57] [local] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll: "Wait longer for the same result of trying something they may take the wrong way." He adds on to Sara's comment.

[8:57] Tau@xanthestar is not talking over Sara, but as an aside, to the Italian

[8:57] Perim@bobisgod171 nods to Dadashi, "Very good." To Sara, "Agreed, but we're fast approaching a point where we need to do /something/." She looks around the room, "Apologies, someone brought up the idea of gathering

[8:57] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: more information from /their/ communications, I believe?"

[8:58] Perim@bobisgod171 isn't sure who said that, but she definitely heard it :x

[8:58] Mathilda@EledriPrime points to Sivath.

[8:58] [local] Sivath@thesophist: Yes. Intercepting their communications may provide samples for UT analysis.

[8:58] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: simple communication isn't about guessing anything, it is just relaying that we want to do something other than fight be simple establishing we know about the same stuff. There is no message but hello

[8:59] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "The problem is that we still don't know how their communications could be safely intercepted, unless this was a certain sort of attack that was triggered. Would be best if we could get through to -

[8:59] [local] Tau@xanthestar: them."

[8:59] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: "What we intend to- " *cuts herself off and shrugs*

[9:00] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex decides to let his point rest from there so other topics can continue, his intent was acknowledged at least

[9:00] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 nods once at Sivath, and then to Tau. "Point a big dish at their worlds and see what we can hear?"

[9:01] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *May be updating that sketch of the smiley-face asteroid so it now has speed lines behind it and is bringing cheerful doom on a bunch of tiny faceless aliens*

[9:01] Tau@xanthestar lets out a chuckle. "Couldn't hurt.."

[9:01] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "It'd help to know if they use Subspace or some other form of broadcast. It'd also help to narrow down the band they use, it might not be the same as ours."

[9:02] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: good point, they can use wormholes on a whim.. subspace may be below them

[9:02] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "A cloaked sensor probe might be a good call if we can have our Romulan allies help. Send it into areas we've encountered them."

[9:02] [local] Sivath@thesophist: Species 2492 responded to a subspace hail from Gainsborough.

[9:02] Perim@bobisgod171 tilts her head a little, "The Republic recon mission kept their comms offline during the mission for safety." She looks down to Sivath, "Could you install your comm modifications on a Republic

[9:02] [local] Tau@xanthestar: -" he cuts himself off.

[9:03] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: just because they know how to use subspace to their advantage doesn't mean the communicate with it though Commander

[9:03] Mathilda@EledriPrime nods to Sivath's update.

[9:03] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: ship, in order to capture any routine broadcasts, rather than specifically a sample of the virus?"

[9:03] [local] Sivath@thesophist: Yes.

[9:03] Draz@HF_Mudd slips in and finds a place against the wall, next to Koniezcko, to observe.

[9:04] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: I'm speculating there of course, I agree a test such as the Admiral mentions is a good idea

[9:04] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 brings up the boring dish idea again after Sivath's statement. "A giant dish that picks up subspace transmissions, then? Or... well, a modified Romulan ship sounds more exciting."

[9:04] Tau@xanthestar looks from Perim to his chief engineer, leaning back.

[9:05] [local] Sivath@thesophist: Whether a vessel or autonomous probe is used, the ability to cloak would be advantageous.

[9:06] Perim@bobisgod171 smirks at Capello, "That's the general concept, yes. All right, so..."

[9:06] [local] Sivath@thesophist: Either way, it can be configured to protect it from core systems infection.

[9:06] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "We wouldn't happen to have access to any high powered orbital telescope arrays would we? Something that could be tasked with a detailed observation of 2492's region?"

[9:07] Mathilda@EledriPrime lifts a hand to Perim, "Pardon me."

[9:07] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: I might be able to call in some old friends from my time planning long range surveys for emigrant fleets.. they might have such a telescope.

[9:08] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "Could be worth exploring, just for general purpose recon. That's beyond our scope, however."

[9:08] Mathilda@EledriPrime nods.

[9:09] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "May I suggest a someone problematic idea?"

[9:09] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: *somewhat

[9:09] Perim@bobisgod171 ticks off on her fingers, "So we'll look into the Kilur as a source of information, and a recon mission to try to collect their communications, both aimed at determining how they communicate."

[9:09] Perim@bobisgod171 nods to Tilly, "Go ahead."

[9:09] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Only if you're ready for a problematic answer." He grumbles with a grin toward Tilly. AFTER Perim says yes.

[9:11] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "Could we speak with the various regional powers to see if they have any knowledge of 2492 that we don't? I know it could be tricky, especially if it involves the Echometa, but it could yield +

[9:11] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: details we lack, and perhaps a diplomatic advantage in the long term."

[9:11] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll tilts his head. "I would be willing to pursue that, It couldn't hurt."

[9:13] Perim@bobisgod171 nods slowly, "Good idea. We'll do that, as well."

[9:13] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: I'll volunteer my ship to be part of that as needed. My crew has some experience in that sort of thing.

[9:13] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "The risks exist, but if handled right, are minimal."

[9:13] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Looks toward Tadashi* "Afraid not."

[9:14] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: No?

[9:14] Mathilda@EledriPrime smiles slightly.

[9:14] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 says, "And I'll volunteer my own flesh and blood for knocking on some doors. Been wanting to get to know the neighbors for some time. Bar gossip about them just isn't the same."

[9:15] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Looks back toward Konie* "If you need Aries assets, we'll be happy to help out. However, we're presently on reserve."

[9:15] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "Fancy a future in intel?" Tau says over to Giuseppe with a smirk, then looks back down to his PADD

[9:15] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: Well, I tried, heh.

[9:16] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 looks at Tau, "You should read my personnel file, signor." He grins.

[9:16] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Gives Tad a very polite sidelong smile that suggests maybe it wasn't exactly his place to try*

[9:16] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex just wants to be involved, cause he hasn't done much

[9:17] [local] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll: "We're on the eastern front right now, but we can definitely coordinate something if we take the method." He nods to Sara before looking back to Perim.

[9:17] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *Folds her hands and sits forward, looking up and down the table, finally settling on Perim*

[9:18] Mathilda@EledriPrime gives Konie a little smile.

[9:19] Perim@bobisgod171 rubs at her jaw, and looks around the table.

[9:19] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "Captain.. Nimitz, Commander Ailes."

[9:19] Tau@xanthestar taps on his PADD.

[9:20] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan looks to Perim

[9:20] Beylara Ailes@dryadae fixes her gaze upon Perim. "Admiral?"

[9:20] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "Sagittarius is covering the Kelterre Sector this month. I'd like you two to work with Captain Konieczko on making contact with the local factions."

[9:20] Alistair Nimitz@natthaan nods "Yes Sir."

[9:21] Mathilda@EledriPrime smiles again, just briefly.

[9:21] Beylara Ailes@dryadae nods, once, in affirmation. "Yes, sir."

[9:21] Rosewood@fireshade321 quirks an eyebrow slightly.

[9:22] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll makes that note on his PADD and nods to each of the aforementioned.

[9:22] Beylara Ailes@dryadae turns her head and inclines her head politely to Konie, smiling briefly.

[9:23] Perim@bobisgod171 looks to Giuseppe, "Lieutenant, if you'd like to make yourself available to assist with that task, with Captain Thiessen's blessing, please feel free."

[9:23] Tau@xanthestar smiles encouragingly at Giuseppe, though he doesn't give his blessing yet. He left his Holy Water back in his coffeepot.

[9:23] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 looks positively elated.

[9:25] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: "Commanders d'Evreux and Konieczko, I'd like you to take point on investigating a possible Kilur connection. Coordinate with Captain Desimone to arrange for a ship to support you."

[9:25] Perim@bobisgod171 motions helpfully at Tadashi and Draz.

[9:25] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "Aye, Admiral." She nods, then gives a nod to Sara too.

[9:26] [local] Jacques d'Evreux@Zenithar: "Yes, sir."

[9:26] Rosewood@fireshade321 gives Sara a look that could almost be called hopeful.

[9:26] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *raises her hand without pulling her wrist from the edge of the table* "I'd like to additionally remind all of our assets that we shouldn't get too invested in the idea that our interactions with

[9:26] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: these people will end with diplomacy. If the opportunity arises to gain relevant tactical information, I hope everyone is ready to seize on it."

[9:27] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex nods slightly, though looks a bit more stoic now.

[9:28] Perim@bobisgod171 glanes at Sara, then moves on. She nods to Tau, then down to Sivath, "Commander, I'll be referring a Republic vessel or two to you for modification."

[9:28] [local] Sivath@thesophist: Acknowledged.

[9:28] Tau@xanthestar totally makes a note

[9:29] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: glances*))

[9:30] Perim@bobisgod171 looks to Tadashi, "Captain Kawamori, I'd like you and Captain Thiessen to begin working on a universal-language greeting. Hopefully one of the other avenues will pan out and it won't be necessary,

[9:31] Tau@xanthestar nods slightly.

[9:31] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex gives a firm nod, "Yes sir."

[9:31] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: but I want to be ready if it is. I know there are various standard formats to choose from, but if there's anything we can tailor to what we /do/ know about this species, all the better."

[9:32] Perim@bobisgod171 leans back, causing a quiet creak from the chair, "I think we're about ready to wrap up, then. Any last comments, anyone?"

[9:33] [local] Tau@xanthestar: "I'd just like to say this is a solid start. And good luck, all of you."

[9:33] Tau@xanthestar smiles. Because Tau.

[9:33] Sivath@thesophist is satisfied with this plan and has nothing further to add.

[9:33] [local] Sara Desimone@kipstermick: *gives a small shake of her head*

[9:34] [local] Tadashi Kawamori@Master_Dex: I'm good on that front

[9:34] Giuseppe Capello@garak234 says, "Ah, just some questions on what sort of wine the neighbors might like, but I'll figure that out later."

[9:34] [local] Konieczko@DoABarrelRoll: "I can tell you Echomet like.." He shakes his head. "Nevermind."

[9:35] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "All jesting aside, the greeting /should/ personalize us, making them aware we're not some nameless faceless enemy. They may see us much as we see them."

[9:37] [local] Mathilda@EledriPrime: "We have no clue what they may have been through prior to our encounters with them, They might feel justified."

[9:37] Perim@bobisgod171 nods, then moves right along. "Thank you all for coming, I think this has been really productive. If you have any questions about your assignments, please see me." She slides her PADD a bit

[9:38] Perim@bobisgod171 forward on the table, "Anyone who hasn't already responded to the original memo who wants to sign up, please feel free. Alternatively, if anyone has decided they're /not/ interested, you can make

[9:39] [local] Perim@bobisgod171: a note of that as well." She sits back again, "Dismissed."

RECOMMENDATION: Based on the input of the task force, four avenues are to be pursued, as follows:

  • Captains Kawamori and Thiessen have been instructed to compose a universal-language greeting, specific to our Species 2492 situation.
  • Captain Konieczko is to coordinate an effort involving Captain Nimitz, Commander Ailes, and Lieutenant Capello to reach out to the natives of the Kelterre Sector to determine if any of them have had any previous contact or useful information about Species 2492.
  • Commander d'Evreux and Lieutenant Commander Konieczko to lead an effort to determine if the Kilur (or the Doza Scavengers) have any knowledge of Species 2492. Starship support to be provided by Aries Squadron.
  • Commander Sivath to arrange for the installation of communication modifications on a Republic vessel (when one is assigned by Command) to facilitate the addition of communications interception to the upcoming recon mission.

OOC: Tried to give everyone something to do from this, feel free to run with it. Those of you who will be going out and doing things that require GM-input, poke me to set up a time. If by chance I've given you something that you're OOCly not interested in doing/being involved with, please let me know that ASAP!
