LOCATION: Waydis, Echomet, Circini, and Annatar systems, Kelterre sector

MISSION: The mission objective was to reach out to the powers of the Kelterre sector and seek out information related to The Unidentified Species-2492

OUTCOME: While we did not gain anything significantly noteworthy as to how to proceed with Species-2492, we were informed that we may find more information on the Itrin trading station. Additionally all states visited excluding Waydis had knowledge of Species-2492 in some form.

Captain Nimitz, A.
Captain Quint, E.
Commander Ailes, B.
Commander Sivath
Lieutenant Commander Konieczko, M.

NARRATIVE: Shortly after Gamma shift The USS Vanguard, Akagi and William Ockham departed DS13 on a diplomatic tour to the local powers of the Kelterre sector. The tour brought us first to the Waydis system, I offered diplomatic reigns to Commander Ailes. Talks with the Waydis went well but offered no real information as they had not yet encountered anything resembling 2492 or their ships. We were issued an open offer to visit their new colony Sirocco's Landing which we politely declined before departing the system.

Our visit then was to Echomet, knowing that this would have to be carefully handled due to prior relations we posted ourselves outside of their border and sent a hail in and we received no response. I ordered for a scan to be performed of nearby world guard vessels. The scans revealed no ships in relative close proximity to their sovereign border but instead pooled around Echomet Prime. Beyond that even their naval force had reduced to a quarter of their estimated fleet. Considering their relative proximity to areas related to 2492 and the unknown sectors, I ordered for the William Ockham to perform scans for veterons, neutrinos and any other possible anomalies that may sprout up. Again, no results were returned.

Weighing and considering options, I ordered for the Vanguard to approach Echomet Prime, in a green status and slowly. As we ventured further into their space the Ogue-1, Echomet's flagship broke orbit and moved directly for the Vanguard on an intercept course. We halted all movement and finally were hailed by the Ogue-1. We were greeted by a ragged looking Prime Minister Rieskl, after being informed that the conversation we would share would not be disclosed to anyone else on Echomet. The information we initially shared did not ring any bells with the Prime Minister. It was only after we transmitted images and expressed how previous interactions with 2492 went that Rieskl confirmed their own interaction in the past.

As it would turn out, Rieskl is aware of 2492 and their involvement in the destruction of Echomet's Uzu squadron some three months prior, this was specifically the incident involving the Axiom. They recognized after piecing together an investigation that Starfleet was not responsible for the attacks, and that there was another power at work here. I made the judgement call to hand all information I currently had available to myself over to Rieskl and the Echomet. This choice was three part, to serve as a detailed warning to the Echomet of the destructive capabilities of the 2492 and how they have compromised computer systems, to slightly improve relations with the Echomet and as they are closer to the region fill in our own information with what they may have, and may be able to find out. Rieskl expressed that the priorities of the Echomet have changed from exploration to several more in border initiatives, having broken off the previous deal with the Annatar. He went on to say that unless species-2492 closes in on Echomet's borders we would likely not hear from them, and they asked that we step back and "allow a broken civilization to rebuild."

With that we departed with an escort out of the system and laid a course in to Annatar. I allowed Captain Nimitz to be the talking head with the Annatari, unfortunately we had been met with their answering service. After some time we finally found ourselves speaking with a representative of their government, Ambassador Calimerio and they confirmed information on the Echomet breaking off their deal, knowing about 2492 via Federation newswire and the attacks on their drones. When pressed further on what they may know they transmitted a data packet containing scientific findings. I've attached this to the report with hope that the science department may be able to make more sense of it than we could at the time. The visit to Annatar was brief, and we reset course for New Circini.

Once arriving at New Circini, Captain Quint took the place as our representative. A hail was sent down to the planet and received by their governmental offices. After a short moment we were met with Governor Jain on the viewscreen. As Captain Quint ordered the transfer of the 2492 file, it was again revealed that the Governor had knowledge on the species. Though as rumor being shared by the traders that frequent the planet. She informed us of a trading hub, more than a sector away typically home to the scavenger community. After receiving the coordinates it was apparent that this was Itrin station. We made our goodbyes and set course back for Deep Space 13, concludig our tour.

RECOMMENDATION: I believe a follow up investigatory mission to the Itrin station would be well within our interest as well as keep talks open with Echomet, Annatar and New Circini in the event that more information is found.
