LOCATION: Mercenary Outpost, Ventraxian Border
MISSION: Mission planning for action against Breen elite raider squadron, turned into outpost defence against said squadron
OUTCOME: 5 KDF/allied ships destroyed, 3 suffered major damage requiring drydock. One enemy raider destroyed. Overall loss is more severe on our side, but finally getting one of them should hurt their morale and show them that we won't just sit there and take their blows.

NARRATIVE: On stardate 94073.2, the aforementioned task force (minus the Ascendance) headed to a mercenary outpost near the edge of our border with Ventraxian space. There, we met up with Marshall Berylia and held a meeting to discuss what to do about the elite Breen 'Icepick' squadron assaulting our ships while the main Breen force licks their wounds. We decided to create a plan involving a bait convoy because they know we have stealth ships, and a convoy appearing completely undefended is just an obvious trap.
As we were discussing, the outpost picked up incoming hostile contacts. It turned out we were on the wrong side of the ambush this time. We immediately readied our ships for combat and went out to meet the enemy on the field. The Breen had some cyber-warfare ship that disabled the outpost's perimeter defenses, and despite Alyss' expertise she could not restart the minefield.
So we faced down the raider squadron the old fashioned way. They were as ruthless as starved targs, shooting down our ships before they could even undock from the outpost. Even though they fought dishonourably, there was no denying that these people are the best of the best, a fair match for us even if they fought fair. After an extended skirmish we finally managed to chase them off, with San'leth pursuing furthest and managing to strike down one of these aces in a glorious display of torpedo fireworks.
Unfortunately, we still suffered more losses than the Breen, but at least we didn't let them get away clean.
RECOMMENDATION: We should hunt down and eliminate Icepick squadron. They have advanced ships and skilled personnel. Their continued existence will be a threat to the Empire, and their destruction should prove a very fun challenge.
