Captain Thraz,
First of all, welcome to Gemini Squadron. I've heard only good things about the Saratoga, her crew, and her captain, and I cannot wait to work together with you.
The neighbourhood around here is getting increasingly tricky and dangerous recently, and I need all available ships to do their best to protect Federation assets and pursue Starfleet mandate in this region of space. At this regard, I am dispatching the Saratoga in the Kelterre sector, near the Potter Field. I'm sure you already have heard about this peculiar region of space. Although our fleet's efforts have been critical in ensuring the safety of civilian traffic around there, there are still quiet a number of things we do not know about the phenomenon. So, your first and primary duty will be to carry on a thourough survey of the field: collect every data you can, do not spare any effort.
As a secondary objective, however, I want you to keep eyes open about possible pirate activities around there. I have received reports which seem to point toward such a possibility, after all that's a good place for ambushing unprotected convoys. There is also the possibility that, among these criminal groups, there are former members of the so-called Sacred Band, an organization which we were able to defeat recently. Although probably now in disarray, they could still have access to a powerful arsenal, so be cautious.
In case of such an engagement, enforce Starfleet regulations, but do not endanger your unit out of sheer necessity.
