MISSION: Report to New Circini in order to assist with egg problem request.
OUTCOME: Two Nova Strider eggs recovered, possibly contaminated by genetic tampering. Entire lab confiscated.

NARRATIVE: New Circini contacted Starfleet in order to ask for assistance regarding eggs they had possession of. The U.S.S. William Ockham took on several officers and was dispatched to assist.
Upon arrival, we contacted Governor Zejar Jain and the situation was given the clarity of mud. Apparently, a facilty had been seized by the authorities and we were being asked to help with the eggs in the facility as well as removing 'items' that were left there. Neither the type of eggs, nor the items, were specified. When asked if documentation was required, the request was refused. In essence, we were being asked to beam down to an unknown facility to examine unknown eggs and retreive unspecified items. It was also obvious that the Governor had no intention of explaining further.
An away team was assembled, consisting of Captain Quint, Captain Ailes, Doctor deCapulet, Lieutenant Gaelthas, Ensign Stern, and Chief Laro. After gathering proper equipment, the team descended to the planet at the coordinates given by the New Circini governor. A security team escorted us to the facility.
The conditions were, to say the least, humid. Steam rose from vents and there were several consoles and a corner with cabinets in the upper portion, while the lower was a glass enclosed space with two extremely large eggs. The glass resisted attempts to scan through it with a tricorder. However, efforts with the consoles yielded better results. Ensign Stern was able to speak with the guards, who confirmed that the only persons captured during the raid of the laboratory were menial workers. The cabinets revealed many biological samples, and the consoles revealed a variety of records that indicated scientific studies by one Dvaortash Gan, from Tellar Prime. He was originally a Starfleet geneticist and seems to have since split off to perform his own manipulative experiments.
The Nova Strider eggs arrived at the facility one month ago, and once Doctor deCapulet and I were inside the glass containment, we were able to take samples and run scans. There were signs of embryonic activity, although it was impossible to determine who far advanced development was and how close to hatching they were.
All files and records--minus the ones pertaining directly to the experiments being run at the laboratory which had been expunged--have been uploaded to the [i[ockham[/i] and each egg has its own cargo bay with adjustable temperature and environmental controls in order to create an appropriate environment for them to be studied from to determine what, if any, genetic modifications have taken place.
We contacted the Governor again before departing, and she essentially washed her hands of the project, the facility and the eggs, happy to be rid of them.
RECOMMENDATION: In order to prevent difficulties both on station and with the William Ockham, I advise that we have heightened security on the lookout for Dvaortash Gan, a Tellarite. We just confiscated his entire laboratory, and he might be a bit enraged about it. In addition, I recommend that the Nova Striders are monitored for any possible genetic modifications and studied.
