Gamma quadrant expedition recovered data dump of materials from ancient Dominion research station in the Masan system.
SUMMARY OF XENOBIOLOGY FINDINGS FROM MASAN-DOMINION-FAC.DATADUMP
ITEM: complete bioscans, complete genetic engineering blueprints, research notes, et cetera for original VORTA species recovered and currently being catalogued for Starfleet databanks. Cursory inspection indicates species intelligence was magnified by as much as three times with Dominion tampering.

ITEM: complete bioscans, incomplete/partial genetic engineering blueprints, research notes, et cetera for original hur'q species recovered and currently being catalogued for Starfleet databanks. Dominion alias for species was BURROWERS (also cadre species 484). Described as germanium-based, sentient insectoids; friendly, intelligent but willful.
Cursory inspection indicates that species is native to planetoid with an exceptionally long and lopsided orbital period, which results in a winter season of approximately one thousand Sol years. Species has evolved to hibernate during this timeframe, which is the reason we have not encountered them until now.
Dominion genetic tampering is suspected to have forced hur'q into a permanent frenzy/berserk state, accounting for their current aggressive behavior. No known method for pacifying them as of yet, but bioscans have been forwarded to Starfleet Science and Medical for further investigation.
