'Forged Earth' - 5th planet of it's system - is home to a Human society descendant from pre-warp colonists who left Earth in the mid 22nd Century; discovered by Starfleet in late 2417. It is one of two M-Class worlds in the system; the second of which - Newfrika - hosts a significant mining operation in support of the primary colony.

The planet is dominated by two major continents - North & South - with the core of the colony built around numerous cities in the northern continent, whilst the Southern continent plays host to more rural settings and coastal tourism destinations. The most developed of said population centers is the capital city - The Valley - which has developed around the crash site of the original colony vessel (a site which is now home to something resembling a cathedral), though the landscape is distinctly more dominated now by the FEPD HQ building, standing at approximately 74 storeys tall.

Though a large portion of the hydrogen-rich world is of moderate climate and stable geology, extreme regions show signs of historical tectonic instability and inclement conditions - all of which appear to have been countered through a combined use of biodomes and terraforming techniques (techniques which are also evident across other planetary bodies in this star system).

The Human descendants populating this world - self-identifying as 'Forged Humans' or simply 'Forged' are a technologically advanced Human sub-species. Physical evolution of the species has only diverged from Humans of the Sol System insofar as a slightly reduced average build (resultant from minor discrepancies in gravitational conditions) and equally reduced comparative lifespan (presently considered to be the result of differentiating technological development in the field of medicine).

Sociologically; the Forged have developed a culture which is - in many ways - comparative to historical data pertaining to Humans of the late 21st / early 22nd century. With less distinction carried by factors such as religion, geographic borders or political ideals since their founding; the Forged have evolved a more economic-driven government, with a ruling Council made up of representatives from key economic sectors. This system appears to scale down into smaller communities and outposts as well. Though as a people, they place little value on strict religion in a mythological sense beyond observing ancient Human cultural traditions in key aspects of life; they have evolved to hold a near-religious level of reverence to their immediate ancestry. The aforementioned cathedral situated upon the original Valley Forge crash site is testament to this factor in Forged life.

Technological development is one of the more distinct differences which set the Forged apart from their Human ancestry. With the system being distinctly lacking in the resources required to support a warp programme, they have instead demonstrated a focused shift in technological advancement which is predominately focused on energy conservation and transporter technology. This line of development - influenced by native conditions of the star system - has led to the Forged relying more on interplanetary transporters than space flight, although they possess the capability and operate a modest sub-warp fleet; the FEPD (Forged Earth Planetary Defense). Other noteworthy developments in this area include their use of holotechnology, the previously mentioned energy conservation management and their more recent alternate fuel source 'Element One', or Eon as locally referred to.
