NARRATIVE: Upon being placed in command of the SAR I was offered to do so from the bridge of the USS Avalon. From there I coordinated the USS Asimov, and USS Akagi to work in tandem with the Avalon in opposing searching sweeps of the area around Deep Space 13 and the station itself. Starting the Akagi and grid 12 and the Avalon at grid 1 both ships made a tightening circular path in towards the starbase. USS Asimov was directed to start at the station and work outwardly. I also ordered an SAR pulse to be sent out every two minutes, in the off chance any survivors had sent their rescue beacons to silent for fear of being recovered by hostiles. I wanted them aware we were searching.

The process was slow but eventually yielded results near the transwarp gate as the USS Akagi located 12 survivors, including Vice Admiral Neema Perim. Soon after that the Asimov reported that scans of the station showed the power core was unstable and a request was made to send a team in to lock it down to prevent a possible rupture in the near future. As with could have placed the SAAR in danger I authorised this course.

Soon after the USS Lexington hailed and after a brief conversation joined in the SAR. Taking over the Asimov's search area as it's crew were now otherwise engaged. Eventually all craft were directed to deploy all support craft, and have them coordinate a gridded search overlapping our spiral pattern. This was advised by Captain Rosewood. The goal being to accelerate our search and up our chances of recovery of survivors.

During the search, Captain Thiessen kept us apprised of the situation with the stations core, originally wishing to stabilize it, he eventually advised it be ejected. This had to be done manually by opening an external hatch, done so with the Avalon's phaser array. The Core was then towed by runabout clear of the stationand the search area in case it went critical.

I am sorry to report no other survivors were located. As the Operations window was closing I ordered all ships to collect the KIA they had marked for recovery and any resources. Of note there was the remains of a Confederacy Dreadnaught in the system. I had it also tagged for later recovery and examination. Once all personnel were accounted for we withdrew back to K7.

RECOMMENDATION: I recommend further operations be sent to continue recovering our dead. As well as the continued search of our MIA. I further recommend to that end the placement of a small task force at DS 13 for that express purpose as well as to protect the site. Lastly, I recommend the Confederacy ship be recovered and taken for study.

OOC: If I missed anything let me know. Or feel free to add reports as needed.
