NARRATIVE: D'Ishae departed K-7 space with the above Federation and Romulan officers. Upon arrival in the V774 Tau system a Ferengi D'Kora class vessel hailed our ship. This vessel was carrying the father of Commander Caspius (Status MIA) as we expected prior to departure.
Communications were established with the Ferengi ship and an away team was beamed over to the Ferengi vessel, the Vexnik. Aboard was DaiMon Qax, his crew, and the Minister. tr'Nanclus passed scans taken on approach to the system detailing an unknown electromagnetic signature in the vicinity. D'Ishae would investigate this while an away team moved into the wreckage of the base.
Despite high radiation levels the away team proceeded to the search area without incident. Our group fanned out to conduct localized searches. Our time on station was increased slightly, as radiation in our AO was less than expected. Initial results were not turning up any signs of life. However, a hit was received roughly halfway into our allotted mission time. A Romulan lifesign was detected a few decks below our location, in primary EPS control. We were not able to communicate with the individual and could not risk opening the door due to decompression concerns. After consultation it was decided to return to the waiting ships and attempt an alternate method of retrieval.
A plan was put forth to use a salvage beam from the Vexnik to carve a small hole into the EPS control room. At the precise moment a breach occurred D'Ishae would transport the lifesign immediately to sickbay. Range estimates to the room proved to be off on the order of a few dozen meters, but the operation was successful. We recovered Subcommander Koval, of the R.R.W. Llicordais. The Subcommander was stabilized for transfer to sickbay on K-7.
While the away team was searching the base the D'Ishae managed to track down the relayed signal. A runabout from the U.S.S. Vanguard was able to escape from the ship before its destruction. It left a communications buoy behind detailing their intended course of action. The runabout had set course for the Aldebaran system and the colony on Aldebaran III. The minister elected to remain behind with the Ferengi vessel. D'Ishae assigned a cloaked runabout to monitor their activity and report, then departed the system for K-7.
RECOMMENDATION: Dispatch vessels to follow-up on runabout.
