NARRATIVE: The Vice Admiral and I met with Faus upon his return aboard the USS Saratoga, SD94865.5. Upon informing him what had taken place at Deep Space 13, he was very eager to help in any way he could.
We made the decision to show him visual records that we had gained of the unknown vessels that had attacked and he seemed caught off guard. He then told us that he believed this was the Junayd, a species that had formally been in the Azed Confederacy before they were 'removed' approximately two centuries ago. The Confederacy was still young at this point and the political situation was tense almost all of the time. Things were not as well defined in that time as they are for them now.
With Faus' relative young age, this should be noted that it's based on stories he had heard, his reliability to date should provide some credit.
He did continue to go on and tell us that from what he remembers, the Junayd were removed for conducting illegal research into computer systems. Studying them is forbidden, which also is the reason he himself had to leave.
