NARRATIVE: Stardate 94840.3 - Peace Talks with Azedi were disrupted by an attack by unknown hostiles. The resulting combat warranted an evacuation order by command of DS13. The launch of the Yankee Clipper was requested at my authority, and I accept responsibility for its eventual loss in an attack by raiders. Due to the loss of a starfleet craft, I will be more detailed than normal in this report.

As I, LT Seral, was off duty at the time of the attack and not considered essential personnel nor assigned a combat station, I did my best to perform my duty to aid in the orderly return to quarters and shelter points of the civilian personnel of my habitat section. I rendered first aid, and assisted in maintaining calm and order until evacuation order was given.

Upon being given the order to evacuate, I assisted in orderly transition to evacuation points. While making an additional check of the habitat area I was able to secure the cooperation of a dozen civilians workers and their children. Assessment of the situation suggested that secondary evacuation point, the shuttle bay, of our habitat section was the more logical route to get the civilians to safety. We loaded to maximum evacuation capacity aboard the runabout Yankee Clipper and then were joined by an engineer who had found himself separated from his assigned post, Ens Roberts.

With clearance the Yankee Clipper was piloted by myself, aided by Ens Roberts with the assigned evacuation ship being the USS Vanguard. The evacuation ship was to allow docking in order to avoid lowering shields for beaming, at which point the Ensign and I would offload civilians and make another run to the station for civilians. The Yankee Clipper was on final approach to dock with the USS Vanguard when she appeared to have been destroyed by overwhelming firepower. The runabout was enveloped in debris, and took damage. We attempted to scan for indication of survivors, but scans were negative. The Yankee Clipper sensors then reported that we were being targeted. I decided to be fully evasive, and did not see any other likely evacuation craft within flightlines. We made a brief warp at light speed only a few seconds to clear the combat area.

The warp drive did not shut down as quickly as was intended, requiring a full shutdown of the warp reactor and restart. We took the time to assess the damage. Subspace transceiver array was completely down, the navigational systems were showing faults and sensors were intermittently operational. When we exited warp, inertial dampeners went offline as did attitude control sending us into a tumble until I could recover using thrusters. Our ability to return to the station was disabled due to these factors.

Ensign roberts was good enough to see to some repairs, restoring internal dampeners and attitude control, as well as bringing short range sensors back to partial usefulness. Navigational charts were still offline, though I believed I recognized a constellation visible from DS13, featuring Aldebaran. There was no such marker that allowed for the slightly closer position of K-7, thus logic dictated that we attempt to make for Aldebaran. Ens Roberts continued efforts to repair damaged systems, though either through error or unidentified damage of combat, the navigational system proved unrecoverable, as was the communications array. Short range radio was able to receive, but unable to send.

The Yankee Clipper was carrying the standard two log buoys, of which we configured one and set to broadcast an encoded signal to indicate our intended course. We launched it in the direction we believed to be DS13, or the remains of said same. We began our journey with maximum safe speed toward Aldebaran with the intent of landing at the colony. A full accounting was made of the evacuees and discovered we were over capacity. Ens Roberts was able to boost life support to compensate, but we were required to slow our speed to compensate for the power drain.

We maintained course for approximately ten days, at which time we discovered temporary repairs beginning to fail in the deuterium storage system, placing us at risk. Full evaluation revealed that, at by approximate calculations, 3.25ly from Aldebaran system, we were facing a total loss of warp capability in under half a day. We launched the remaining log buoy, configured to broadcast a distress beacon and tow it via tractor beam. My intention was to allow any who picked up the signal to use the signal to lock in on our position, speed and distance, therefore, improving chances of rescue.

Our signal was intercepted by a BXXX cruiser, spotty sensor capability made it difficult to identify and verify until it was near to overtaking our position. By this time, we had come to a complete stop to conserve power for life support. When they arrived at our position, our radio picked up a transmission, but could not decode making it seem as static and garble. I attempted to signal distress using the marker lights per Starfleet emergency protocol. We were powered but at full stop. The cruiser fired what appeared to be a low power warning shot in front of our ship and their signal was again sent but not understood or received in the clear. I attempted to alert of our situation via the marker lights once more, only to be alerted by the timely recovery of short-range sensors which indicated the cruiser was charging all weapons and had locked on. As well, a second ship appeared to be on approach though near max short range.

Rather than accept destruction from an unwarranted attack by a raider on a ship transmitting a distress call I executed another short warp leap as an evasive maneuver. I came about and prepared for the cruiser to make pursuit and warped past them when they followed. Sensors alerted the new ship was a Starfleet registered ship approximately 10 minutes out. I executed as many evasive maneuvers as I was able before we were caught in a tractor beam. By this time the Starship Eminence had arrived on scene.

Analysis of the sensors provided an unclear picture of the scene, as both ships remained poised for combat, shields, and weapons charged, while the Yankee Clipper was further damaged, impulse engines offline, shields offline as well. The phasers were not powerful enough to breach the shields to disrupt the hold of the tractor beam but where ready capacitors now at full charge. I instituted preparations for an escape plan, that would have left us stranded but far enough from the attacking cruiser to be picked up ty the Eminence, by my estimation.

We waited for the situation to play out until a power spike indicated that the forward array on the cruiser was about to fire, and we were out of time. I ejected the warp core, giving it a push with our own tractor emitter to disrupt the beam holding us. All while dumping all available power into thrusters. We were able to escape, and the crew of the Eminence came through, beaming the survivors to safety.

It is my understanding that all civilians were treated for slight malnutrition and exhaustion, with a number of minor injuries resulting from evasive maneuvering. This includes three concussions and two broken limbs, though I have not been able to confirm. Ens Roberts was treated for injuries inadvertently caused by a knee of one of the civilian contractors. He should be recovered and released from medical in a few days.

I apologize for the delay in filing this report, as I myself was being treated as well.
