LOCATION: Tower Keep System, Kelterre Sector
MISSION: Occupation of an Azedi claimed system
OUTCOME: Mission success, withdrawal of Azedi forces, and destruction of our false base that we had set up in the system.
KEY PERSONNEL:
Captain Sanara Draz (USS Saraswati)
Captain Alexandria Holmes (USS Dallas)
Captain Isadora Lynn (USS Eminence)
Captain Keelah Se'Lai (USS Valley Forge)
Commander Mi'shune Ansaanzi sh'Sonora (USS Baton Rouge)
Commander Natasha Larson (USS Endeavour)
Commander Alistair Nimitz (USS Akagi)
Lieutenant Commander Klaarna (USS Polaris)
NARRATIVE:
The mission was set out in three parts; Task Force One (listed above) were told to warp to the Tower Keep System and defend the Starbase that we had previously constructed and placed there. Task Force Two was to warp to Azedi systems and destroy select targets. Task Force Three was in reserve to relay messages between the Task Forces. The account that follows is of the actions of Task Force One.
Our orders from Vice Admiral Perim were as follows: To occupy the Tower Keep System, which the Azedi claimed as their own, and hold it against any attacks, to allow the second task force to complete their mission. Our secondary objective was to destroy the starbase upon our withdrawal so that the Azedi did not go looking for the Doza Outpost.
Upon warping to the Tower Keep system under Captain Quint's command, we began scanning the area, prepared for battle. The Saraswati picked up signs of the USS Camelot in the system (the Camelot having been MIA since the Battle at Deep Space Thirteen). Both the Saraswati and the Akagi broke formation to assist in rescuing the survivors.
This was when six wormholes opened and twelve Azedi ships arrived in the system (six dreadnoughts and six frigates). Going to red alert, Captain Quint hailed them. The Azedi requested us to leave the system which they had claimed as their own, as per agreement. Captain Quint reminded them that no such agreement had been signed, since they left the peace talks before anything could come of it. He also stated that if the Azedi government wanted to come back to the table, they would be welcome.
After this, the Azedi closed channels and left the system, after firing a beam at the base, which destroyed it instantly. There were no casualties or injuries from our task force.
Liaising with the second task force, we were informed that their mission was a success, although they had begun to take fire from the Azedi. In order to show a more aggressive stance to potentially alleviate the attack on the second task force, Captain Quint decided that we should move to the Diaderi system, which was closer to the Azedi borders, and potentially attack an Azedi satellite in orbit of the planet. This drew some debate, which was cut short by a confirmation that the second task force had successfully withdrawn, with no casualties and light damage. Our mission complete, we too withdrew back to Deep Space K-7.
RECOMMENDATION:
Our mission was a success and the fact that we had no casualties only underlines this fact. My only recommendation is to inform all Commanding Officers exactly which actions constitute to acts of war, and which fall under the category of aggressive action. This is to prevent any actions that go against the stance that the Federation is showing and that may be used against us in future negotiations.
I also wanted to outline an observation that Captain Derix made. The appearance and subsequent withdrawal of Azedi ships in the Tower Keep system to engage the second task force seems to indicate that the Azedi fleet is not as large as they make it out to be; the use of wormholes to move them from A-B instantly seems to negate the need for a large fleet. I would like to recommend that we pursue this line of thought; if deemed to be correct, it would certainly aid us in our future missions.
OOC: AAR for "Riposte"! TLDR; mission complete, nobody died. It was a rare occasion.
Yada yada, let me know if I messed up with anything!
