MISSION: Occupation of an Azedi claimed system

OUTCOME: Mission success, withdrawal of Azedi forces, and destruction of our false base that we had set up in the system.

KEY PERSONNEL:
Captain Emery Quint (USS Victory)
Captain Sanara Draz (USS Saraswati)
Captain Alexandria Holmes (USS Dallas)
Captain Isadora Lynn (USS Eminence)
Captain Keelah Se'Lai (USS Valley Forge)
Commander Mi'shune Ansaanzi sh'Sonora (USS Baton Rouge)
Commander Natasha Larson (USS Endeavour)
Commander Alistair Nimitz (USS Akagi)
Lieutenant Commander Klaarna (USS Polaris)

NARRATIVE:

The mission was set out in three parts; Task Force One (listed above) were told to warp to the Tower Keep System and defend the Starbase that we had previously constructed and placed there. Task Force Two was to warp to Azedi systems and destroy select targets. Task Force Three was in reserve to relay messages between the Task Forces. The account that follows is of the actions of Task Force One.

Our orders from Vice Admiral Perim were as follows: To occupy the Tower Keep System, which the Azedi claimed as their own, and hold it against any attacks, to allow the second task force to complete their mission. Our secondary objective was to destroy the starbase upon our withdrawal so that the Azedi did not go looking for the Doza Outpost.

Upon warping to the Tower Keep system under Captain Quint's command, we began scanning the area, prepared for battle. The Saraswati picked up signs of the USS Camelot in the system (the Camelot having been MIA since the Battle at Deep Space Thirteen). Both the Saraswati and the Akagi broke formation to assist in rescuing the survivors.

This was when six wormholes opened and twelve Azedi ships arrived in the system (six dreadnoughts and six frigates). Going to red alert, Captain Quint hailed them. The Azedi requested us to leave the system which they had claimed as their own, as per agreement. Captain Quint reminded them that no such agreement had been signed, since they left the peace talks before anything could come of it. He also stated that if the Azedi government wanted to come back to the table, they would be welcome.

After this, the Azedi closed channels and left the system, after firing a beam at the base, which destroyed it instantly. There were no casualties or injuries from our task force.

Liaising with the second task force, we were informed that their mission was a success, although they had begun to take fire from the Azedi. In order to show a more aggressive stance to potentially alleviate the attack on the second task force, Captain Quint decided that we should move to the Diaderi system, which was closer to the Azedi borders, and potentially attack an Azedi satellite in orbit of the planet. This drew some debate, which was cut short by a confirmation that the second task force had successfully withdrawn, with no casualties and light damage. Our mission complete, we too withdrew back to Deep Space K-7.

RECOMMENDATION:
Our mission was a success and the fact that we had no casualties only underlines this fact. My only recommendation is to inform all Commanding Officers exactly which actions constitute to acts of war, and which fall under the category of aggressive action. This is to prevent any actions that go against the stance that the Federation is showing and that may be used against us in future negotiations.

I also wanted to outline an observation that Captain Derix made. The appearance and subsequent withdrawal of Azedi ships in the Tower Keep system to engage the second task force seems to indicate that the Azedi fleet is not as large as they make it out to be; the use of wormholes to move them from A-B instantly seems to negate the need for a large fleet. I would like to recommend that we pursue this line of thought; if deemed to be correct, it would certainly aid us in our future missions.

OOC: AAR for "Riposte"! TLDR; mission complete, nobody died. It was a rare occasion.

Yada yada, let me know if I messed up with anything!

MISSION: Show of Force presence at Tower Keep, for a minimum of 30 minutes.

OUTCOME: Success. Azedi Confederacy forces withdrew to engage other stage of operation without conflict.

KEY PERSONNEL:
Captain Emery Quint -USS Victory
Captain Sanara Draz -USS Saraswati
Captain Alexandria Holmes -USS Dallas
Captain Isadora Lynn -USS Eminence
Captain Keelah Se'Lai -USS Valley Forge
Commander Mi'shune Ansaanzi sh'Sonora -USS Baton Rouge
Commander Natasha Larson -USS Endeavour
Commander Alistair Nimitz -USS Akagi
Lieutenant Commander Klaarna -USS Polaris

NARRATIVE: Upon arrival at Tower Keep, I ordered the Task Force into a Delta formation to best establish a patrolled and defensive position around our facsimile outpost. Further adding that if engaged by Confederate forces we would utilize Gainsborough patterns 7 - 12 as they were designed for larger scale operations with mainly slower ships. During the course of the patrols, the USS Saraswati advised they had discovered the remains and escape pods of the USS Camelot. I ordered the Akagi and Saraswati to investigate, and be sure before conducting SAR, as I did not preclude the possibility of it being a staged scene, or have Confederate forces arrive and fire on ships otherwise engaged and defenseless. Upon being advised by the Akagi that the ship and crew were not a ruse I ordered the SAR to continue.

Soon after six wormholes opened with two Confederate Dreadnoughts and support ships emerging. Initially they simply reoriented themselves, and the silent standoff started. I assume the flag of their forces contacting us, advising that we were in violation of their space and per our agreement were being given fair warning to withdraw. After ordering a change in our formation to keep an eye out for possible support from a different vector, and to get the Akagi and Saraswati to stand down SAR and regroup, I replied to the message. I advised the Confederate ships that no such agreement had been finalised and that, the Federation did not recognise their claims in the Kelterre or Doza Sectors. I added that I would allow them to withdraw, and that if theri government wished to return to negotiations they were welcome to do so.

The Confederate ships tightened their formation, and held position for several moments, then the support craft opened wormholes and started to withdraw. The final dreadnought remained long enough to fire upon the false starbase we were defending and then withdrew. Contact with the separate element of the overall operation was attempted advising them of the withdrawal of forces from our location. It was at this time I was advised that the second element had struck at one of their targets, and were engaged with the Confederate forces.

This brought me to a decision point, we were to far out to render any form of support to the withdrawing element. This left only a handful of options, stand and hold, or find a way to draw the attention back on us, allowing the second element to fully withdraw. I advised all Task Force commanding officers that this was their chance to object to forthcoming orders, as there were none initially I started to take options. Many were brought up, and at this point objections came, as the COs all debated courses, ranging from holding and disavowing the second element and hoping for the best, to locating and firing on something of value to the Confederacy. While I personally saw no need to fire on anything, the presence of ships, or the image of present ships in another location of value to Confederate claims seemed likely to be perceived as more important than withdrawing attackers.

In the end this proved to be unnecessary as the second element was able to fully withdraw.

RECOMMENDATION: Continued show of presence along Confederate borders. A visible, if even another false, base to be constructed at Tower Keep. Beyond that, make the Azedi Confederacy contact us. They have made it clear they had little regard for us, but were willing to adhere to the agreement we had started to form. Now they need to demonstrate that willingness openly.

OOC: For our part thanks to Kermit and Aev for GMing the event, as usual it was fun. I fully recommend anyone to post other reports :)

MISSION: Covert Strike at key industrial targets of the Confederacy.

OUTCOME: Covert strike led to successful destruction of 3 key industrial installations.

KEY PERSONNEL:
CDR-GEN Rellir T'lhaihtrha (Overall Command, RRW D'Ishae)
CDR Davin Mandukar (RRW D'Ishae)
CAPT Sadia Cynis (IKS Daramar)
CAPT Minabi Derix (USS Kassandra)
CENT Jekal Vekkei (RRW D'Ishae)

NARRATIVE: USS KASSANDRA was ordered to join Task Force Two (outlined above) and conduct a surgical, covert strike against key Confederacy industrial targets. Task Force One was to occupy a previously Azedi claimed ystem, simultaneously providing a solid distraction for Task Force Two to complete their mission. Task Force Three was to relay messages between the two Strike Groups. The following account details the actions of Task Force Two.

KASSANDRA, along with RRW D'ISHAE and IKS DARAMAR were sent, under cloak, to the Kacem System.

The trip was uneventful. Before departure, KASSANDRA received a communication with updated target lists and weak-points. Upon cross-checking this list with the list provided by CDR-GEN T'LHAIHTRHA, my XO detected several discrepancies, the new information providing more accurate weak spots in the targets.

Once at the edge of the system, the group dropped out of warp. We observed a Dreadnought Group departing the system taking the bait that Task Force One was providing. The reporting captain then shared the updated targeting information with the group after confirming the XO's report. Targets were assigned to each ship and firing solutions were calculated. Special care was given to avoid detection from the Orbital Stations for as long as possible. CDR-GEN T'LHAIHTRHA then gave the order to carry out the first strike.

The Task Force executed the strike flawlessly. The weak-point analysis provided to the reporting Captain proved invaluable as all three of the targets were catastrophically damaged and subsequently destroyed by the Alpha Strikes of the three attacking ships. As the strike was executed the distraction provided by Task Force One was no longer considered of interest by the Azedi, several Wormholes announcing the return of the Dreadnought Group.

CDR-GEN T'LHAIHTRHA ordered a full retreat. All three Task Force ships made top speed to the edge of the system, activating their cloaks as soon as possible. Unfortunately, one of the Dreadnoughts was in range for an attack. One of their primary weapons was fired and connected with RRW D'ISHAE. While the damage seemed extensive, the cloaking capabilities were not compromised, allowing the ship to continue retreat. CDR-GEN T'LHAIHTRHA ordered both other ships to continue to retreat.

Both the reporting Captain and CAPT CYNIS reduced warp speed to stay close to D'SHAE in case the cloak would malfunction before getting to safety.

All three ships left the target system without further engagements and returned to K-7.

RECOMMENDATION: The reporting captain would like to point out three observations in particular.
1) The Confederacy had to recall the Dreadnought Group to deal with the attackers in their core system. It might be that their fleet is actually a lot smaller than it seems. This could be exploited in case further engagements are necessary. Should be investigated.

2) A lack of locking mechanisms in their main weaponry. KASSANDRA was nearby when the Dreadnought fired on D'ISHAE. The beam weapon did not track and ignored the fact the ship was cloaking. It seems that they use pre-determined firing solutions without compensation for later ship movement. If that is indeed the case, it might be worth adjusting defensive strategies to incorporate more drastic maneuvering upon detection of a firing-cycle of one of their ships. CAPT QUINT has already established a few new strategy guidelines taking this into account and the reporting captain believes it is worth expanding upon those.

3) KASSANDRA engineering is currently studying the signal used by Azedi Stations to detect cloaked vessels. If we can isolate it, running more traditional sensor interference might prevent our ships from being detected in the future.

Lastly, the reporting captain hopes that this demonstration of our capabilities will show the Confederacy that a wiser strategy would be to talk. I do believe that we should listen if they seek contact, but remain vigilant in case they decide to retaliate.

OOC: AAR for Riposte from Task Force Two perspective. Let me know if I missed anything crucial.
