LOCATION: Deep Space 13, Aldebaran Sector, Beta Quardrant

MISSION: Reinforce DS13 and remove damaged hull sections.

OUTCOME: All damaged hulls sections of DS13 were successfully removed and towed for recycling

KEY PERSONNEL:
CAPT Ash Vallen
CDR Davin Mandukar
SCDR Taev i-Luruth tr’Khellian
LT Rizar Visynth

NARRATIVE:

The U.S.S. Shinano departed to DS13 to remove damaged sections of the station’s hull. Because of structural concerns, the engineering team was also instructed to construct scaffolding around damaged sections to provide additional support.

Commander Mandukar and Subcommander tr’Khellian led the engineering teams while Captain Vallen and Lieutenant Visynth provided logistical support from the Shinano. The teams began by scanning the Starbase to determine which sections suffered the most damage and required priority repairs. It was determined a section of Deck 24 and Deck 162 had the least stability.

Engineering teams were deployed to both sections to begin construction of scaffolding once the areas had been deemed free of hazards. A secondary fusion reactor was successfully ejected from Deck 162 and properly disposed of. While working on cutting the hull sections of Deck 24, unforeseen structural instabilities caused a minor collapse of the section, trapping Subcommander tr’Khellian and revealing the body of an Ensign Connor Murphy from Engineering. The deceased Ensign was transported back to the Shinano along with Subcommander tr’Khellian, who was not injured in the collapse. The cutting was completed and the Shinano was able to haul the hull sections away for recycling.

Once a pattern was established, other sections of the station were quickly and efficiently repaired as well.

RECOMMENDATION:

While most of the mission was completed with success, it appears our engineers would benefit from additional training. Several easily preventable mistakes were made by the engineering crew while constructing the scaffolding. While some of the mistakes were caught and corrected, one of the scaffolding sections suffered a collapse. Fortunately no one was injured, however no one should have been put in the position to be harmed in the first place.

OOC: This is part one of Project DS13 (Week 2) - Construct Scaffolding and Remove Outer Hull
If I have missed anything or made any mistakes, please let me know. Thank you to those who came out for my first attempt at DMing an event. RIP Ensign Murphy, he was so young..
