MAJOR SHIFTS FOR THE 38TH

Vice Admiral Perim takes responsibility for loss of Deep Space 13 and retires from Starfleet.

STARBASE K-7, ALDEBARAN SECTOR, Stardate 95031.5 - After interviews and questioning, Vice Admiral Neema Perim retired from her career in Starfleet, shouldering the responsibility for the losses under her command. The momentous and tragic events at Deep Space 13 required acknowledgement by the top tier of Starfleet, but the end result speaks of change for the structure of those serving in the 38th Fleet.

The news comes as a shock to many in the 38th Fleet. Vice Admiral Perim’s leadership has been a cornerstone of ‘Argo’ for a number of years, even back to her time as a Captain. Recent events--such as the destruction of Deep Space 13--cry out for explanation. Starfleet Command recalled Vice Admiral Perim to Sol to face an inquiry on the actions of officers during the critical time. Her own lack of involvement was not considered sufficient to avoid repercussions for the event. This is--to no one’s surprise--a career-crushing incident. When confronted with questions seeking someone to blame, Admiral Perim took it upon herself. Her orders, she said, were what left the officers in impossible positions.

Rear Admiral Dmitri Konieczko assumes acting command of the fleet until such time as Starfleet Command assigns or promotes someone into the position of permanent fleet commanding officer. His continued service for the 38th Fleet ensures a smoother transition in this time of change. The Rear Admiral served as the fleet’s executive officer for the past year.

In addition to the 38th Fleet, Deep Space 13 has received new orders. Newly promoted Captain Caspius moves into the Station Commander position for the Deep Space station. The repairs are well underway and teams have set up residence on the station to work in around-the-clock shifts to keep progress running smoothly. Captain Caspius became the executive officer of Deep Space 13 on stardate 93414.5 and has maintained several assignments associated with that position since.

With all these changes, the 38th Fleet rebuilds after the devastating events that occured. Ships are coming back into service; the station is fit for engineering teams to live inside it. Progress continues, and with it, the new command structure looks to the future with new vision and commitment to the ideals of Starfleet and the Federation.

About the 38th Fleet: 38th Fleet ARGO is dedicated to being at the forefront of Starfleet’s exploration and scientific missions, with the addition of having forces on hand to commit to assuring the security of this part of Federation space. In addition, this fleet represents Starfleet as ambassadors to both new encounters and established interactions with other cultures. Personnel of the 38th Fleet exemplify decisive action, innovative thinking, and a culture of professionalism and integrity.
