BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS
It became apparent from an early age that Enzian was adept at numbers in their various uses. His mathematical aptitude earned him a spot at an academy boarding/preparatory school in the capital; where he resided from age ten to his majority. While his abilities were above average, he was by no means the most accomplished. His coursework was often secondary to his social circle.
Attending the academy had been a goal since early childhood. Enzian’s father, a retired Petty Officer, would often tell the boy stories about his time spent among the stars. Enzian applied and was accepted to the academy when he was 18 years old. The coursework at San Francisco was demanding, but the largest initial difficulty was the sheer number of feelings and thoughts that constantly assaulted the mind. Never one to shrink from asking for assistance, he contacted an academy counselor and attended several sessions over a three month period, seeing drastic improvement in his mental state.
Graduating with a major in Personnel and Material Logistics he was initially given a starbase posting. His duties on Starbase 42 included managing all incoming and outgoing non-replicable materials. While most would find this an incredibly tedious task Enzian thrived, seeing patterns in the numbers and streamlining the process several times over. Four years and two promotions later Starbase 42 was decommissioned. Enzian was transferred to his first ship, the U.S.S. Tuur, as the Assistant Chief of Operations.
The reassignment to the Tuur was a welcome change for the Lieutenant. He adapted quickly to starship life, first moving to Chief of Operations and then becoming the Tuur’s executive officer after successfully passing his command exams. After four years as the XO of the Tuur, Enzian was promoted to Captain and offered command of the U.S.S. Hamilton.
The Hamilton was a Sovereign class cruiser that served as a front line combat vessel for the first three years of Enzian’s command. Enzian was awarded a Bronze Star and the Starfleet Decoration for Gallantry for his conduct during this three-year period. In 2409 the Hamilton was retrofitted and assumed the role of a command ship. Enzian was awarded the Silver Star for combat actions against the Romulan Star Empire.
In 2411 Enzian successfully screened for flag. He was appointed the Executive Officer of the 14th Fleet, assigned to border security and colonial support near the Romulan Neutral Zone. In 2412 14th Fleet assets were heavily engaged by elements of several Romulan task forces. Under Enzian’s command the outnumbered forces fought a battle of maneuver utilizing several nebulae along the Neutral Zone. He was able to delay the Romulans for eight days and was awarded the Christopher Pike Medal of Valor for his actions.
After several years of service on the frontier of Federation Space Enzian was promoted to Rear Admiral, Upper Half and reassigned to Starfleet headquarters, Colonial Logistics. With the Iconian invasion occupying Starfleet on every front this posting proved the most stressful of Enzian’s career. He again sought the assistance of counselors. When the war ended Colonial Logistics was responsible for rebuilding the vast number of colonies damaged in the fighting. When the previous director was declared medically unfit for duty Enzian was promoted to Vice Admiral and assumed the role of director.
Following Vice Admiral Neema Perim’s retirement Enzian was appointed the Commanding Officer of the 38th Fleet.
