The past several months has been a tumultuous time for this fleet. You’ve suffered the loss of friends, family, and the very place you call home. On top of an already shattered support network many remaining civilians and Starfleet personnel were transferred to different postings in the aftermath. Finally, Vice Admiral Perim, an officer who has been with the fleet for five years retired unexpectedly. The blows have been constant and unyielding.
Throughout this all I and many others have read reports of your steadfast determination and bravery in the face of such adversity. Through your efforts you’ve overcome each challenge before you. I am cognizant of the concern and uncertainty a new commanding officer brings. I experienced those very same feelings several times throughout my own career.
I intend to meet with as many of you as I can over the coming months. Aside from meetings with the Fleet’s senior staff, our Republic Allies, and Starfleet Command I will be making myself available to everyone. I encourage all of you to come meet with me to share you concerns, present ideas, or simply talk. The pleasure to command such a storied fleet is truly mine.
