MISSION: Investigate anomaly at USS Lyric crash site.

NARRATIVE: The USS Pegasus was assigned to investigate anomalies picked up by the probe previously left in the system home to what are believed to be the survivors from the USS Lyric crash.Lt. Carmen Duarte

After arriving in the system, the USS Pegasus discovered signs that the colony had been attacked by unknown attackers. The attackers appeared to have been driven off by another unknown party utilizing Federation standard weaponry. At least one of the attacking ships was destroyed in the battle.
Captain Nimitz attempted contact with the colony. Unlike previous attempts, the colony responded and an away team was deployed to the surface. First contact was made with the colonists and while they were notably suspicious, they were not hostile. The away team was able to speak with Shen, a community leader. The identity of the colonists as descendants of the USS Lyric crash was confirmed. Shen also confirmed that the colony had been attacked, but claimed that the unknown party which defended the colony claimed to be Starfleet.
The away team was then directed to V’les. She appeared to be responsible for the initial distress call, as well as responsible for the use and maintainence of all advanced technology on the colony. She informed the away team that her reason for the distress call was the evacuation of the colony. She is aware that the system’s star is in a state of decay, and requested Federation aid in evacuating the colony. After the away team informed her that they are unable to evacuate unwilling colonists, she agreed to wait until she could convince the other colonists. However, she did request that the USS Pegasus return the remains of the original USS Lyric crew to the Federation.
When asked about the “Starfleet” presence that defended the colony, V’les corroborated Shen’s story. She also added that the unknown party had give her a communication device, which she used to contact the USS Pegasus after it hailed. Captain Nimitz requested the communicator, and V’les obliged.
While these events were transpiring, several unknown vessels appeared at the edge of the USS Pegasus sensor range. Prelimanary scans indicated that they were of the same type that attacked the colony, however a type of sensor making technology made it impossible to be certain. The vessels departed without engaging in any hostile behavior. Tactical analysis noted that many of the vessels appeared battle damaged.
RECOMMENDATION: First contact has been made with the USS Lyric survivors, who call their home the Siral Colony. Pending on V’les signal, we should begin making preperations for the colony’s evacuation. If possible, a ship should also be deployed from K-7 in case the unknown attackers return.
Regarding the mystery colony saviors, an unknown party masquerading as Starfleet is not ideal but also not unheard of. At the moment, their intentions appear to be good. Resources should be allocated to investigate as needed, but this appears to be a lower priority that the above issues.
