Department Heads, please see the below outline of projects dedicated to the defense of DS13 and allied units against Azedi threats. Projects with active objectives are to be given the highest priority. You are directed to allocate any and all department resources you deem necessary and appropriate to the completion of these tasks. If you require interdepartmental resources or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Access to this document may be authorized for any DS13 or 38th Fleet personnel to whom it may be relevant, however project specifics and technical data should be kept confidential in the interest of operational security.

Project Udox
Communications system security upgrade.

Project Status: Complete
Current Oversight: Operations Department

Objectives:
✔ Upgrade communications security protocols to protect against infection by Azedi malicious code.

Details:
- Characteristics of Azedi malware identified. This upgrade has been fully integrated and procedures and training are in place to detect, identify, and purge matching code embedded in comm transmissions.

- Examination of Azedi computer technology indicates a high degree of confidence that current antimalware efforts will remain effective.

Project Teleraptor
Wormhole research and manipulation.

Project Status: Complete (Ongoing Improvement)
Current Oversight: Operations Department

Objectives:
 •  Automate rapid deployment for area denial
✔ Calculate endpoint of artificially generated wormholes
✔ Collapse artificially generated wormholes
✔ Re-open forcibly closed wormhole apertures

Details:
- Teleraptor Beam - Specially configured phase-conjugate graviton beam, capable of forcibly destabilizing (closing) one terminus of an active or forming wormhole. This beam has been tested successfully against (a) the source/outgoing terminus of an Azedi wormhole, (b) the endpoint/incoming terminus of an Azedi wormhole, and (c) the wormhole core of an Azedi dreadnought-type vessel. Therefore, as a tactical option, the Teleraptor beam can be used to (a) prevent retreat of a wormhole-driven vessel already in local space, (b) prevent arrival of inbound wormhole-driven vessels, and (c) disable or destroy a vessel using an enclosed wormhole terminus as a power source. Deflector array configuration files have been made available to all Starfleet vessels operating in the area. This is the current first-line defense against Azedi dreadnoughts.

- Teleraptor Pulse - Specially configured directed magneton pulse generated by a M/AM core capable of reopening the local terminus of a closed wormhole, if used while the subspace tensor field remains stable. In practice, this allows a vessel with a traditional warp drive to 'follow' a departing wormhole-driven vessel. As the subspace tensor field deteriorates relatively quickly, the window of opportunity for this procedure is limited. Warp Core and Deflector array configuration files have been made available to all Starfleet vessels operating in the area.

- Kaczmarek Formula - Computational model to trace wormhole remote terminal point. This has been implemented as part of the standard Starbase/Starship sensor package.

Project Boryx
Internal defense and preparedness.

Project Status: In Progress
Current Oversight: Security Department

Objectives:
 •  Develop improved internal defense and evacuation protocols tailored to hostile Azedi encounters.

Details:
- Observed and anticipated Azedi actions are to be analyzed to develop strategies to maximize both prolonged defense and survival of Deep Space 13 and a minimal-casualty evacuation.

Project Slethi
Verteron beam defensive measures development.

Project Status: In Progress
Current Oversight: Science Department

Objectives:
 •  Hypothesize defensive measures for Azedi verteron weaponry
 •  Compile theoretical countermeasures for transfer of project to Engineering

Details:
- Azedi verteron beams were determined to originate from a wormhole within the Azedi dreadnoughts. The original project was merged with Project Teleraptor. Project Slethi has now been reactivated with the objective of finding a purely defensive measure against the verteron weapon that does not involve directly targeting the dreadnought's wormhole core.

Project Ezakka
Preemptive countermeasures research supporting Project Teleraptor.

Project Status: In Progress
Current Oversight: Science Department

Objectives:
 •  Anticipate Azedi countermeasures to Project Teleraptor

Details:
- Having successfully deployed Project Teleraptor as an offensive weapon, DS13 Command believes it extremely likely that the Confederacy of Azed will work to develop countermeasures to the current implementation. This project is being launched to anticipate and predict those countermeasures so that they may be preemptively nullified.
