LOCATION: Hidrus-Ran, Kingdom of Parin, Doza Sector.

MISSION: Investigation of a potential Thuton tomb.

OUTCOME: Tomb explored and mapped, revealing an ancient Thuton observation outpost.

KEY PERSONNEL:

CAPT S. Bishop
CAPT A. Nimitz
LT(JG) B. Seckreiter

NARRATIVE: As per our agreement with the Kingdom of Parin regarding the archaeological find, the above officers beamed down to view what it is that had been discovered. Whilst Captain Nimitz read and signed the treaty, this officer and Lieutenant Seckreiter went into the cave where the tomb was located. Scans of the rock indicated that the rock itself had been altered at the molecular level in order to prevent weathering, indicating that the builders of this tomb wanted it to last.

Once inside, the walls of the tomb were noted to be covered in pictures and symbols, with the writing being in the Thuton script. However, there were also depictions of a bird-like creature performing acts of worship, something that has not been recorded in any Thuton tombs hence far. In the tomb was also a large statue of a hooded Thuton. The absence of light sources raised was strange, and after conducting scans, it was clear that there was a power source somewhere in the tomb. We located a pressure pad, which was only activated after Lieutenant Seckreiter knelt on the pad, which the statue verified. A set of stairs were revealed which we continued to explore. After navigating a hallway with traps, we arrived in another chamber which contained a throne and a hologrammatic Thuton, who informed us that it would answer all our questions. However, since it referred to us as Hidrun (the native species of the Kingdom of Parin), it's believed that the hologram was reciting a predetermined script. Investigation of the chamber revealed another hidden room, which looked like communal quarters. This was in stark contrast to the rest of the tomb; technologically disparate from everything we had seen earlier. Attempts to access the command functions of the computer located within failed, but we were able to ascertain that the tomb was in actual fact an Outpost that had been assembled from the crashed remains of a Thuton ship called Sunspan. After beaming an engineering crew to the outpost, tagging and beaming items of archaeological significance (this being the tomb, several Thuton skeletons, as well as a sarcophagus), we returned to our ships.

RECOMMENDATION: From the information that we gathered, it seems as though the Thuton ship crashed on the moon and for some unknown reason they decided to set up an outpost there. What transpired from then is unknown, but what is clear is that at some point, the Hidrun were convinced that the Thutons were gods.

Archaeologically, there is a number of interesting artefacts that have been recovered and will have to be researched. The data from the outpost is currently being examined and the possibility of moving the outpost from the moon to the Endeavour is being investigated.

As an aside, it is this officer's opinion that this find is indeed of great significance and effort must be made to record the data as best as we can.

OOC: This is the AAR for the event "Ghosts from the Past". If I made any mistakes, let me know and I'll endeavour to correct them! Event logs are available on request.
