Sir,
Two days ago, we received our regular intelligence packet from our deep embedded asset in Kacam. The most pressing point in the materials is the report of an impending attack by Azedi forces on a location closer to the Federation border, specifically the Dartius system. The attack is dated for twelve days from the packet's pickup date; as two days have passed already, that means the assault is scheduled for ten days from today, or the last day of this month.
The asset reports that the intended purpose of the offense, according to Azedi politicians, is to test their new warp-disruption weapon at a larger scale.
The asset further reports that she was pressed to name a target of Federation value and this was the option she settled on, knowing there was nothing of true value or life located there. She suggests that Starfleet should meet the assault head-on, assuming that Starfleet has successfully developed a counter mechanism for the prototype Azedi weapon she previously sent schematics for.
She is concerned that a successful assault will result in accelerated development of the weapon to deploy en masse.
