LOCATION: Deep Space 13, Cargo Bay 3

MISSION: Investigate enhancements to Project Teleraptor utilising a Tractor Beam emitter as graviton beam source.

OUTCOME: Results inconclusive at this time, tractor beam emitter seems to not be suitable candidate and may require extensive refits to work in this role. Destruction of tractor beam emitter in Cargo Bay 3.

KEY PERSONNEL:
(R) CMDR Davin, M.
CAPT Draz, S. L.
CAPT Tanaka, A.
CAPT Timoreev, A.
CMDR Wallunga, T.
CMDR Zarath, T.
LT Valore
LTJG Zital, S.

NARRATIVE: Commander Zarath hosted a meeting in the conference room on deck 98, during which she outlined her plan and gave a brief overview of the recent occurrences in the New Ciricini system. The plan was to modify a tractor beam emitter, a proven system which is capable of emitting graviton beams and fields, more than capable of affecting matter within normal space, would need to be reconfigured to affect subspace.

During the meeting, Lieutenant Serris Zital offered an alternative, utilising directed static warp fields (of equiv. warp 6.48 power) to disrupt the subspace harmonics used by these anomalies, while I commend the Lieutenant on his ingenuity and theory work, the tactical implications of such a system would make for a poor use during a combat encounter with Azedi forces. This theory does merit further investigation however for applications in planetary defense.

Following the meeting, we proceeded to Cargo Bay 3 which had been cleared for the experiment, with a gravity simulator installed to act as a nullifying force. I asked Captain Timoreev to lead the team in charge of modifying the tractor emitter to work within the requested parameters. His team consisted of himself, Commander Davin, Commander Wallunga, Lieutenant Valore and Lieutenant Zital. The remaining officers set about configuring the gravity simulator for anti-graviton projection.

After recalibrations were complete, the initial test began. The tractor beam was powered to 10%, however phase readings fell far outside the thresholds established by Teleraptor. The issue was found within the emitter and Lieutenant Zital attached a phase discriminator to the emitter assembly. Unfortunately despite these modifications, the emitter once more failed, this time explosively. There were no injuries.

RECOMMENDATION: Continue investigation with the failed experiment, we may be able to utilise the system as a wide field graviton disruption as opposed to a targeted Teleraptor beam.
Explore additional possibilities suggested by Lieutenant Zital to use a static warp field as an alternative method for area-of-denial effects. It may be possible such fields would also impact Azedi vessels and render them powerless.

OOC: Thanks to Aev for GMing, I hope I've included everyone. Very sorry Sakkhet for destroying your cargobay.

ADDENDUM:

Due to the effectiveness of Project Teleraptor and the proposal of alternative projects with different approaches, this project is retired as of Stardate 96218.3 by order of Rear Admiral Konieczko. The project's resources will be sent to other projects.
