Personal Log following return of USS Fiji - Attached to Commander O'Dara's Record.

[The log is spoken by a younger, fainter sounding lt. o'dara, following her recovery from the heavily damaged uss fiji, aboard a medical vessel headed back to a medical station further within federation space.]

"Personal Log, Lt Hannah O'Dara, Stardate 91166.6"

"Starfleet Forensic has confirmed the initial diagnostic from the Fiji's computer; 2.74 seconds between sensors detecting the gravimetric shear and it impacting the hull. Though, it felt a lot more like 3.26 seconds to me."

"Sorry. This is for the books."

"I've rerun those 2.74 seconds in my head since I woke up on the medical frigate sent to recover the wounded aboard the Fiji, and the dead. Accounting for my reaction time, the time it would take to chart evasive maneuvers, the speed of the ship, even the processing speed of the computers; there was nothing that I, or anyone else, could have done to avoid or stop that shear, nor the anti-matter particles that flooded through the microfracture caused by it"

"According to the report, my actions on the bridge saved everyone on board. At least, everyone that was saved. Most of the crew was incapacitated within seconds of exposure to the particles, I barely managed to input the course before my own console exploded. I'm told the course would have landed the Fiji directly on Starfleet Academy's doorstep in the Sol System... I... don't even remember inputting it"

"And... It doesn't make me feel any less guilty about the 61 hands lost"

"The Captain came to see me, said he could hardly notice the plasma burns. Funny, I don't think there was any part of me that isn't covered in burns. I'm sure he feels just as guilty as I do... probably even more so... but he said he was thankful for what I did. He left a bottle of Vulcan Brandy... said it was from his own reserves."

"I think I'll keep hold of it"
