LOCATION: USS Brahe, Sector ALB-8739-B, Moon Facility in orbit around the furthest Super Gas Giant.

MISSION: The conclusion of a mineral survey in the Aldebaran Sector, where the crew stumbled on a little more than Hydrogen and Nitrogen deposits.

OUTCOME: The Brahe completed the mineral survey after escaping a derelict mining facility.

KEY PERSONNEL:
CMDR O'Dara | Acting Captain
Lieutenant K'Nia
Lieutenant Lovet
Lieutenant Jarol
Ensign Amset

LT CMDR Zolwink
Ensign Jefferson
CRWM Lauren

NARRATIVE:
Please find attached a complete survey of all astronomical bodies in the ALB-8739-B system. In brief;
Gas giants all showed typical element compositions: Nitrogen, Helium, and Hydrogen, though all markedly depleted.
Asteroids and Moons all showed common mineral deposits, though not in high yields.
All planets showed limited tectonic activity, negligible mineral deposits, and negligible distinguishing features, save one.

Whilst surveying one of the moons around the outer-most Super-Gas-Giants (SGG henceforward); the Brahe encountered ionizing radiation emitting from said SGG, disrupting her sensors and forcing the vessel into a lower orbit to get clearer scans. From here the Brahe was detected by an automated beacon that broadcasted a series of instructions that contained co-ordinates to a mining facility on the surface of the moon.
After approaching this facility; at a distance of approximately 10,000km, the Brahe was snared in a tractor beam and held in place.

The tractor beam registered as upwards of 300 times stronger than the ones employed by DS13, too strong to break free from without tearing the Brahe apart, that disrupted her ability to produce shields. This, coupled with the radiation from the SGG interfering with weapons targeting, left the Brahe defenseless in low orbit above the station though not in any immediate danger.
After exploring a range of options; The Brahe transmitted a copy of its registry credentials and cargo manifest to the station, leading to the ship being tractored to the facility and held in place on one of the landing pads with magnetic constriction.

After the Brahe was lowered into the facility and its hangar oxygenated, the crew confirmed many things about the mining facility, chiefly that is was; oxygenated, powered, and that there were no life signs present, throughout the entire station. Lieutenant K'Nia lead an away mission with Ensign Amset and Crewman Lauren to learn what they could about the facility, as well as to figure out a way to allow for the Brahe to safely disembark without being caught in another tractor beam.

Upon locating the operations center; the away team discovered that the station had been abandoned for over 3,000 years following a report that all useful materials had been extracted from the system. The last official contact the station recorded was 1,846 ago, besides a Klingon vessel docked inside the facility, its crew having died 72 years ago after being trapped.
Following the away team's access to the facilities operations, the tractor beam aboard the station was disabled and all available information downloaded from the station's computers (attached below), allowing for the Brahe's prompt departure from the station to complete the remainder of her survey.

RECOMMENDATION: I strongly recommend a research team return to this facility for study, with the possibility that the federation claims it indefinitely. The systems onboard have been operating near constantly with no outside assistance for over 1,500 years. As well as this, the radiation emanating from the SGG makes it a perfect staging ground for covert operations, as the facility proved near impossible to detect even within 50,000km knowing exactly where to look, tucked squarely within the Aldebaran sector only a few days from DS13.

OOC: The event was great fun, and a great use of the fleet mining zone, which could prove to be a fun location to use in the future if this setting is ever reused. There are robots and dead Klingons, what more could you want?
