The system has a large amount of stellar debris. The dust and asteroids that make up the debris are heavy with energy absorbing materials that absorb several forms of energy including the scans of most ship sensors. Any ship entering will find themselves surrounded by a figurative minefield of debris. This makes travel through the system quite perilous.
Note: This debris is what is believed to have fooled the original long range probe that surveyed the system.

Monarchy
The Phyllian civilization is ruled by a monarchy that was established in 2389 in response to an attempted invasion by an unscrupulous Ferengi DaiMon and his one ship. The previous national monarchies are now vassals of the central state. The current monarch is Queen Bonnie Leviosa. The monarchy's primary purpose is the protection of the world from outside sources.
PHYLLIAN SPECIES TRAITS
The Phillyians are an equestrian race. They appear similar to an Earth horse with a humanoid body. Their arms end in fingered hands that are covered with Keratin and their legs are long and strong and end in hooves. The race has two genders, male and female. Both genders are of the same approximate height and weight. The species averages around 3.35 meters in height and 500 kilograms in weight. Being a militant minded race, individuals of the species tend to prefer muscular builds adding to their overall imposing aesthetic.
One of the more interesting evolutionary traits of the species is the range of motion of the hip joint. The joint allows for 90 degrees of motion that allows the species to walk either on two legs or on both legs and arms. The species uses this trait for running. They are able to attain much higher speeds on four limbs.

SOCIETY
The Phillyians core societal belief is in service to their people. Serving others is the guiding principle in all aspects of their lives. Their children are taught to view their every action in how it can benefit their neighbors, their nation and their world. Military service is a common way to serve, but other professions that benefit others are also highly valued: such as educators or scientists. The most noble position is that of "Lifegiver," their term for Medical Doctors. One Phillyians saying is: "Any fool can stab someone with a stick, but it takes true wisdom and skill to take back the wound."
Their society has only recently (somewhere around 150 years ago) become an equal opportunity based society. Throughout most of their history the race was a matriarchal society. The is still a strong cultural bias in favor of women. Most leadership and family names are through female lines. In romance it is the females that pick their mates. The males are allowed to decline the invitation, but it is a major taboo for a male to try and pick a female.
TECHNOLOGY
The Phillyians are a newly warp capable species. Their technology is a mixture of individual creation and reverse-engineered Ferengi tech from the downed vessel from the invasion. While their fleet is still small, the Phillyians have put large amounts of resources into ground based planetary defenses.
