But this fleet-wide crisis?
Her brief interlude with two officers on the ops floor of the base just deepened her uncertainty. What could someone say to a ranking officer who believed they could have averted the deaths of so many? They would accuse her of 'knowing nothing', of 'not being there'. And worst of all, they would be right. She hadn't been there, she hadn't seen firsthand. Katriel's empathic talent gave her some small amount of insight into the horror of the events, but even she would not claim it as any sort of substitute. She may rank lieutenant, but she wasn't any sort of soldier.
Enough, Katriel abruptly cut off her train of thought and refocused. Maybe she was inept, but she still had to try. Debriefings with every ranking officer needed to be scheduled and processed by the counseling department and from there, they would assess who might need more attention.
Maybe group therapy would be effective here? If they didn't believe her, maybe they'd believe one another. Something to keep in mind, at least.
Katriel bent over her PADD with renewed determination, as she outlined her task list and schedule. She may not be a soldier, but there were things she could do that might prevent the incident from dealing more damage to the fleet.

((So here's the dealio. In order to get a status filled out for your character -- I'm sorry if I didn't know your full name ;_; -- you must do any one of the following:
(1) Write one yourself and post it below! It can just be like two lines long, but should include what the probable outlook for your character is in the aftermath and whether or not they require additional attention from someone in the counseling department.
Note that this status update would be written by someone in the counseling department after an interview, but not necessarily Katriel. Saying your character needs more attention just means that you plan to carry the character's trauma for a while and either want to resolve it later and/or with an actual PC (me).
(2) Have an actual debriefing session with Katriel, after which I'll write up a status report and recommend for or against further sessions depending on how I think you played the character during the session. Please see this post on how to best initiate RP with me. :x
If you're going to write one yourself, here are some suggestions on likely outcomes for you to pick from:
- Officers who are being particularly self-destructive (substance abuse or suicidal) would be given antidepressants and mandatory counseling
- Officers who are not performing at a professional level (latent anger, lack of focus) would probably be suspended from service temporarily (~2 weeks). Counseling would be recommended for those who are feeling guilty or self-destructive. Antidepressants would be administered to those who are unusually lethargic.
- Sleep is a HUGE healing tool for trauma, it creates emotional distance and perspective. Officers who are unable to sleep or have disruptive dreams would be given sleeping aides.
- Your character, obviously, does not HAVE to be traumatized after these events, especially if they are able to sleep and have a support system of friends or other relaxing hobbies to fall back on. Counseling is only one solution, not the only one, and probably not even the best.
Thanks guys, have fun!))
