Subject: I.S.S. Intruder
On Stardate 89644.2, the Isaac Newton detected a Starfleet signature around 12 LY from Nukara Prime. Diverting course to investigate brought us upon a derelict Terran Empire Vessel. I beamed aboard and transmitted to Argo Command what I had found, who dispatched Doctor Soa'Lindresko, Captain Diz and Captain Lyspha. After an investigation, I decided to take the Isaac Newton into the universe breach and undertake a Information-Gathering mission. At this point, Captain Diz volunteered her ship as an escort. I informed her that I would be going alone, and would override her Anti-Matter Containment if she attempted to follow. I would like to point out at this time, that it is impossible to do from another ship.
When we arrived, we found...Hell. It is the only way to describe it. Borg everywhere. THe only Starfleet hold out was Deep Space 9, which was 42 LY from our exit point. Almost immediately, we were set upon by 4 Borg Cube's, 1 Tactical Cube and countless Probe's. We attempted to fight them off, but cutting beam's penetrated our shield's, ripping through Decks 4 to 17 in the Saucer Section, and 22 through to 27 in the Engineering Hull. We also lost half of our Sensor Suite. I gave the order to proceed back through the Universe Breach, by which time, 238 people had been killed or taken by the Borg.
Upon arrival back in our universe, I set a course for Outpost Argo, where the Isaac Newton was able to get to the outskirts of the system before we had to eject the core.
I would like to commend the 238 who died, and posthumously promote them all.
U.S.S. Isaac Newton is...Dead. Shipyard crew's estimate 4 years to bring her back to operational status. I would like to request transfer to a different ship, preferably where I serve as XO. I have lost faith in my Command Abilities.
