Report from DS9: Loss of the USS Sutherland

<<< Priority Report >>>

FROM: Command, Deep Space Nine
TO: Command, Task Force Argo
SUBJECT: Loss of USS Sutherland

Command at Starfleet Station Deep Space Nine led recovery operations of the USS Sutherland tonight. The ship was badly damaged in the Peneb system in the beta Ursae sector. Initial reports indicated that the ship was ambushed by a small contingent of Cardassian dissidents who have acquired Galor class cruisers.

A Bajoran led Task Force was able to conduct rescue operations for the Sutherland's crew. 766 personnel were recovered from her 789 man crew. 19 bodies were recovered and 4 crew members are missing and presumed dead. An attached list indicates the names of the individuals.

The Sutherland's crew is currently on Bajor and will start shuttling back to Outpost Argo in the coming days. Seventeen personnel remain in Bajoran medical facilities or onboard the Starfleet medical vessel, USS Kindred, and may not be delayed in their return to your station. All are in stable condition, however, and should be able to return within a week.

If you have any questions about the above report please contact the Deep Space Nine Ops Center.
