... The offices of Colonial Command have been buzzing with activity as the commencement date for a new Federation colony on Kebrell Prime comes ever closer.
For the uninitiated, Kebrell is located in the Raveh sector in what is generally considered to be Deferi territory. Historically, the Deferi have proven to be equalists and isolationists and, as such, have been extremely reluctant to cede any space to Federation interests, making the negotiations between the Federation and the Deferi long and protracted. Eventually the Deferi were convinced that the Federation would be better able to lend their assistance against Breen incursions if the Deferi would permit a colony settlement on Kebrell. The agreement that was finally reached is in itself viewed by diplomats to be a substantial step forward in Deferi-Federation relations.
Though the colonies have technically been functional and in service for just over a month, next week marks the beginning of what will be a series of colonist "waves" and is widely regarded as the official inauguration of the Kebrell settlement...
