Axanar Updates

Aha. But you can't do that until you prove what Argo isn't.

And now this: http://trekmovie.com/2016/05/20/jj-abrams-announces-paramountcbs-has-agreed-to-drop-axanar-lawsuit/

Remains to be seen what the new guidelines will look like... but it is cool that they managed to end this out of court. Whether they were in the wrong or not... I wanted, and still want, to see Axanar.

I've grown to think of the Axanar folks as somewhat shady dealers, but you can't deny the quality of Prelude, and I'm also looking forward to what they may be allowed to do, based on the guidelines and the settlement.
Oh good. We can all make money off Star Trek now.

Time to buy Vulcanoid ears, blue paint and a shan anamatronic. Star Trek Argo will be a thing.

CBS must have been seeing the potential that the lawsuit would draw focus away from Beyond so they decided to jetteson the whole thing while they still could.

While I can only speculate I'm sure the guidelines will mention crowdfunding limits somewhere too. So I think it'll be harder to "make money" off of Trek in the future without an official licence.

Edit: I'd just liketo clarify that I do agree Axanar has been doing some questionable things. They're far from free from blame.
It says settlement. Maybe CBS is going to get a cut for them to do it? It seems just to me that they would get a chunk of the money that is generated for this.

Yeah. They settle it so they can get some money off of it and move the focus away from the lawsuit and towards Beyond.
From what I saw on the STO forums, seems like Beyond director and JJ convinced CBS to settle rather than go to court.

I'm seeing a lot of that on Facebook too. In fact, Lin told the news to Alec personally the other night.

Shiny new trailer is out!

That trailer is nuts! you could splice that into a trailer for the new Trek film and you'd hardly notice a difference in quality.

Not that it will probably matter now, but here's the second of the three Axanar trailers.

So between this and several polls that have been posted the past few days, I'm starting to believe Axanar is going to change from Star Trek to something else.

And yes, as far as I can tell this is the same actor who plays Martok and was supposed to play that Starfleet Captain/Admiral in Axanar. If I'm wrong then please feel free to correct me. :p
