As one element of our response to Species 2492, I will be assembling a diplomatic task force to explore avenues of establishing peaceful contact. This task force will be primarily a think-tank. We will meet periodically to discuss non-military solutions to the situation as it develops. As such, the task force will not be restricted by rank or qualifications.
This will be a purely voluntary assignment, and by signing up, you are agreeing to take on this responsibility in addition to your regular duties and assignments. I will be selecting four officers to serve as primary members of the task force, as well as additional number of volunteers depending on interest.
Please reply to this memo if you are interested in volunteering.

Excellent. Please muster your entire crew for our first meeting. We'll need to relocate to a cargo bay, but I'll start making the arrangements. We'll have to make a recording for your ship, as I don't believe she'll fit inside.
If spots are still available, I'd like to get in on this as well. My deep space mission may have yet afforded me some experience in unknown species contact that could hopefully help. Barring that, I'm getting tired of the phasers being on standby.
I'm just going to come to the meeting without the rest of my ship though... but they'll be there in spirit.

As per our conversation on this subject, I will gladly make myself available to assist in this capacity. Peaceful contact with this species is something I consider an extremely high priority and it's best we consider avenues to do so.

I'm aware that I'm likely the most junior of those requesting to join the Task Force, but I'm confident I'll be able to contribute valuable insight as this progresses.

As we had spoken before, I'm at your disposal for this project. Gemini elements are already operating in the area and will easily be able to coordinate with this think tank.

TO: RADM N. Perim CC: VADM Krvhn FROM: CAPT A. A. Timoreev, U.S.S. Attar STARDATE: 93762.3 RE: SUBJECT: Diplomatic Task Force
Admiral,
The idea of creating such a task force in this moment is more fitting then ever, in my opinion. Although I doubt I'll be of any usefulness in this think tank's works, I will ensure that all data me and my squadron will find during our SAR mission will be submitted to the task force as soon as possible.
Cordially
