Expansion 2: Delta Rising.

Myself i only hope that my ships wont go and become second less competitive due to the t6 stuff. Something like that would probably make me stop buying anything in STO, or just leave altogether for being screwed over.

It's right there in Cryptic's Q&A, there will be a means to bring T5 ships up to par with the new endgame. Presumably the price tag will be Refined Dilithium, conceivably also some of the new crafting materials. If Perfect World ties their hands, maybe we'll have to buy modules from the Zen Store on the same vein as the ones needed for certain Fleet Ship purchases, but for its potential to alienate a chunk of the playerbase I remain hopeful that the odds on that are low.
Ah yes. I don't really expect them to pull a move that puts all the current ships behind, but you never know right?

As long as the ships are upgradable, preferably for free, I don't see any real troble with it. The gear going a bit behind I'm fine with as long as I can keep my ship without falling behind :p

Ah yes, apparently its the whole ship.
A third Intrepid? I had the original, then I upgraded to the one with the ablative armor (just a gimmick imo). Unless it's the NPC version of the ship which would make sense since they would probably make it nice and shiny for the expansion.
Someone put together an album of all of the images from the whatchmacallit.

The bugship is officially going to be upgradable for free to T6, so hopefully that applies to all lockbox/lobi ships as well. <.<

So, maybe something like the Aquarius escort on the Oddy', perhaps? With an in-game playable equivalent?

Though with that said, I'd not mind the Captains Yacht, or the... shuttle thing on the Nova class, with the same treatment too (As in, a launch-able combat pet), but... heh

Along with the titles listed above, there are some other great rewards for captains as they level from 50 to 60.
These range from Duty Officer packs to increased rank in existing abilities. Check out some of the rewards you’ll be receiving as you level:

  • Level 51 - Gain a small pack of Duty Officers
  • Level 52 - Upgrade your Fleet Support ability from rank II to rank III
  • Level 54 - Upgrade your captain class ability Strike Team, Engineering Proficiency, or Scientific Aptitude from rank II to rank III
  • Level 55 - Gain a Bridge Officer Candidate
  • Level 57 - Upgrade your captain class ability Tactical Fleet, Engineering Fleet, or Science Fleet from rank II to rank III
  • Level 60 - Gain an additional Captain Trait slot

So... that's all? I'd have hoped for more in addition to "specialist trees". In fact, I'd like to promote my DOFFS to Captain as well!
Two more new species added
Are those playable species or just NPCs that will be out there?

Most likely the latter.
Trailer's out!

Let the speculation commence.

Well, that doesn't look promising for t5 to keep up :(
While the new features for ships looks interesting, Cryptic has to know that the T6 exclusives will alienate a huge chunk of the STO community (the people who paid for their T5 ship). Hopefully their silence on the issue means they aren't ready to announce what changes will come to those Z store/lock box ships. Perhaps those ships will be tied into the ship mechanics they plan to announce.

Some kind of hybrid ship class, who knows.
