PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Basic Profile Assessment

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Subject possessed a mild amount of nervousness at beginning of interview, which dissipated fairly quickly after demonstrating her sense of humor. Despite her self-assessment as being somewhat impulsive or even undisciplined, her conversational topics indicate that she is capable of deep thought and introspection on matters both academic and not. Subject sought transfer after realizing that she may not have been living up to her full potential and appears to suffer some guilt in feeling like she has squandered her time thus far, but authority observes that she is clearly making up for lost time in her enjoyment of her current work and practical learning. Subject professes that she recognizes that she may have an attitude or personality that other personnel may find grating, which is a pleasant demonstration of self-awareness. Authority’s assessment is that at least during the interview, the subject was largely casually informal, which could be problematic with more traditionally strict supervisors.

Subject’s emotional support network is satisfactory. Subject trended moderately positive and optimistic in worldview, with a balanced locus of control. BFI-2 scores: high openness to experience, extraversion. Moderate conscientiousness, agreeableness, negative emotionality.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Basic Profile Assessment

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Discussion with Subject was one of roles. What role does the Subject see in themself? What role does Starfleet in the grand scheme? What role do junior officers have? What role do his fellow captains have?

Subject sees his ultimate role as that of a soldier. His views are ultimately all given in furtherance of that mindset and a desire to see the world he surrounds himself with conform to it. To him, Starfleet’s role in the galaxy is primarily a military one, with science and exploration to be left as secondary objectives. Junior officers, however capable in other fields, must learn the grittiness of war first and foremost. Senior officers must guide junior officers in that direction.

This provides a dichotomy that leaves the Subject both able to benefit others and be benefited by. Subject certainly speaks with experience on his own military experience and desires, and his presence in the fleet is contributory both as a soldier and as a potential mentor towards others younger and lower ranking than he. He may be able to, and be quite willing to, impart valuable knowledge and skills that would help junior officers in the future.

Simultaneously, it may behoove Subject to be exposed to differing ideas, both from those of his rank and those below him. In contrast to his views, the 38th Fleet does engage in substantially wider operations than those that he places the greatest priority upon. Furthering science or exploration may not involve combat, but avoiding conflict could be one of the important learning experiences of being a captain on the frontier. One of the greatest risks in adopting a role-like approach in the way Subject has is the calcification of thought which authorities should avoid if possible.

To summarize, subject’s view is perhaps entirely made through lenses and roles that he has set for himself. While extremely useful in some cases, in others it may be difficult if another lens may be required. Authority recommends that Subject be placed in situations in which he both excels at and would require him to think outside the box.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Subject presented a thoroughly relaxed disposition during interview. His responses were nothing but straightforward and to the point and rarely developing into elaboration or side tangents. Subject seemed mostly satisfied to allow the authority to direct the conversation, an indication of a more easygoing nature. Possibly the subject is not prone towards preoccupation or absentmindness, as he appears to largely stay grounded in the present moment; subject is highly likely to be a proponent of a more ‘go with the flow’ philosophy. Subject does profess to being interested in being challenged and solving problems, which led him to his interest in engineering. He highly values his colleagues and their contributions in teamwork.

Subject does possess a good streak of ambition and a healthy dose of candor to go with it, as he sets his sights on attainable but worthwhile goals. Authority is satisfied with subject’s emotional support network. Subject trends moderately optimistic and positive in outlook and worldview, though a bit more neutral on the motivations of others. Locus of control is largely balanced. BFI-2 scores: high openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion. Low negative emotionality.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Basic Profile Assessment.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

At start of interview, subject did demonstrate some initial nervousness. Nevertheless, subject demonstrated capacity for both curiosity and amusement when the situation called for it. Subject is strongly introspective and spends much of her time in analytical observance of the people and systems around her. Accompanied with her willingness to ask questions and accept the advice of others, subject demonstrates self-awareness and a will for self-improvement, as she professes to actively work on motivating herself to step out of her comfort zone.

Subject’s worldview trends more towards the positive side and she is generally more optimistic in her perspective on the motivations of others. Authority observes that subject’s self-confidence levels are perhaps a bit lower than average, although not out of the range of normal parameters for other liberated borg. Locus of control is strongly tilted towards internal. BFI-2 scores: high agreeableness and conscientiousness, moderate openness to experience, negative emotionality, extraversion.

Subject’s emotional support network in its current form is somewhat lacking, so authority hopes that the measures being taken will change that soon. Subject has interest in achieving her own command some day.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Interview with the subject was eminently pleasant. Though she occasionally evidenced passing frustration or sadness at the memories raised by particular questions, on the whole she appeared relaxed and comfortable, frequently smiling and chuckling at what is happening in the present moment. Subject rarely had to think long on her answers and strongly appreciated certainty, demonstrating a willingness to divert the flow of conversation to get answers or put in significant extra time in her work for the same. Apart from this strong work ethic, authority noted that subject’s approach to command is refreshingly conventional: an interest in at least an attempt at diplomacy in every encounter, a priority on preserving crew life, and maintaining optimism for mission success.

Authority did not get the opportunity to ask about the subject’s emotional support network, but was satisfied by the subject’s answers on its sufficiency. Subject’s perspective and world view was mostly neutral, but she trended towards mostly positive on the motivations of others. Subject’s self-esteem appeared to be moderate, locus of control was slightly more internal than external. BFI-2 scores: high openness to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness. Moderately high extraversion (lower sociability). Low negative emotionality.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Basic Profile Assessment.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Subject evidenced no nervousness or anxiety at the start of interview, presenting instead as a polite, relatively high energy individual, providing candid and occasionally enthusiastic responses to some questions asked, but occasional hesitancy towards others. Still a younger officer, subject appeared generally guileless and strongly motivated to pursue novel experiences. Such a strong growth-oriented mindset is to be commended, but authority would caution that said pursuit does not come at the expense of regularly pausing to reflect and interpret any given experience’s outcomes, lest it all be reduced to a simple exercise in hedonism.

Subject has been experiencing some friction due to other individuals’ instinctive prejudice against her smaller stature, so the subject is planning to pursue ‘skeletal upgrades’ to better reflect her current age, as well as due to natural deterioration of her original frame. Subject trends moderately positive in terms of worldview and moderately optimistic in her perspective on the motivations of others, though the subject also gave many neutral answers that suggest she has yet to formulate firm opinions on some topics and lacks assertiveness. Locus of control is very slightly more internal than external; data is lacking.

Subject’s emotional support network is satisfactory. BFI-2 scores: high agreeableness, conscientiousness and extraversion. Moderate* openness to experience and negative emotionality.

* Interesting result given the professed interest in “sublime experiences”.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

During interview, subject was unfailingly attentive and straightforward throughout. Her answers were generally to the point and minimal, though not incomplete, and she never paused to overthink a response before giving it. Despite her sometimes sparse responses in the first half of interview, subject required more precision on the Likert scale survey and did not hesitate to respond with such. Subject spoke in an informal manner and did not venture to make light at any time, though she was willing to respond with humor when the situation called for it. Authority notes that subject may have a tendency to reflexively assume more literal meanings when question prompts have potentially multiple interpretations.

Subject noted that she potentially regrets not having spent more of her earlier career in a wider variety of postings, feeling that she has potentially missed out on some wells of experience as a result. Subject harbors no particular ambition at this point in her career beyond what she has already achieved. Subject’s outlook is mildly optimistic and many responses were only of moderate strength, if not entirely neutral. Contrasted with subject’s secure levels of self-esteem, subject merely seems to reserve some degree of commitment in her responses due to the largely hypothetical nature of the exercise.

Subject’s emotional support network is satisfactory. Locus of control is firmly external. BFI-2 scores: high conscientiousness and agreeableness. Moderate openness to experience and extraversion. Low negative emotionality.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Subject is an institutionalist at heart, holding great trust in the system and his colleagues. As long as that trust is properly respected, Subject will encounter no issue carrying out duties and obligations. Subject was straightforward, direct, and cooperative in the encounter. While Subject holds a position that may involve garnering reasonable suspicion in the course of their duties, Subject appears to maintain trust in their fellows in civil society as well.

Authority recommends that Subject continue along this course of development by being placed in positions that require Starfleet Security to interact with the public to develop the social skills that coincide with Subject’s interests and worldview.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty with caveat.

DISCUSSION

Initial cursory questions quickly ran into difficulty. Following typical inquiries into why Subject has chosen to rejoin Starfleet, initial answers were curt, short, and led to natural follow-up questions. Once a request for a specific instance in which Subject found the work rewarding as they had previously enumerated, Subject expressed distrust in either the evaluation process itself or its evaluator. On the basis that the purpose of the evaluation was to establish a baseline assessment and the source of the resistance falls outside the scope, Evaluator chose to redirect towards a more welcome questionnaire.

Subject’s responses are short and often treated reasoning to be self-evident. At the same time, Subject was clear and coherent in answers. It is clear that expected levels of reasoning in answering the wide range of questions does occur and does not incur any particularized concerns from the Evaluator. Socialization is also at a level that shows stability and competence in stressful situations. This is true from both formal answers and informal stimuli involving Evaluator’s tacos.

It is clear that Subject is capable of conducting themselves appropriately, properly rationalizing decisions, and performing duties satisfactorily. Issues may arise when the basis of the decision is questioned or the reasoning is expected to be articulated beyond personal preference.

Whatever concerns exist fail to give rise to any failure of evaluation or bar from service. However, Evaluator does recommend to decision-makers in-depth sessions to address lingering concerns. As stated, it is not expected to substantially impede Subject’s current duties. It must be stressed though that a baseline assessment is necessary but wholly insufficient to address any latent psychological questions.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Subject presented a brisk and, apart from a brief salute, comfortable manner at interview. Subject was transparent about her emotions, unafraid and unembarrassed to bare them to others, and expressing them both physically and verbally. Currently the subject is going through a period of severe lifestyle transition, including major shifts in both career and family focus, so there was understandably an undercurrent of stress and anticipation underscoring most of the discussion, but largely the subject is optimistic and excited about the direction life is taking her. Authority is largely unconcerned, but suggested if she starts to become distracted by her anxiety, coming up with backup life plans in case the first ones fall through might assist with calming them.

When motivation for career change was discussed, subject confessed to a certain level of exhaustion in regards to command and experiences with ‘bad apple’ colleagues that inevitably leave a long lasting impression. Still a believer in Starfleet ideals, subject is hoping to pursue a shift to law, and is accepting that she may sometimes be asked to handle difficult cases or clients in honor of due process.

Subject’s world view is moderately positive and optimistic, but more neutral and almost trending negative regarding her opinion on the motivations of others. Locus of control is balanced, slightly more internal. Emotional support network is sufficient. Substance abuse history was briefly addressed and continues to be under control. BFI-2 scores: high openness to experience, extraversion, negative emotionality. Moderate agreeableness. Low conscientiousness.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Throughout the interview, subject was unfailingly considerate and ever ready to smooth over discussion points by infusing his responses with a casual warmth and cleverness and sometimes self-deprecation. Subject frequently demonstrated amusement and cheer during the conversation. Taken altogether with the previous, it lends the subject an obvious skill with developing rapport with others in every level of acquaintance. Authority additionally observed a level of discomfort when it came to the subject discussing himself and was unsure if this was due to an aversion to any potential for appearing either narcissistic or ambitious or because the subject has difficulty with discussing his self-introspection.

Subject attests that his transfer to station was largely motivated out of feeling a need to step out of his comfort zone, which is remarkably proactive in terms of self-improvement and very laudable, though it may be challenging to maintain. Subject conscientiously seeks a fulfilled and rewarding life of service and aid to others and it’s possible that this has come at the expense of his own social and emotional support, but subject seems to have all the required tools for reversing this course, so authority is cautiously optimistic that this will change with the new environment.

Subject trends squarely positive and optimistic in world view and in opinion on the motivations of others. Despite frequent self-deprecation, subject has a healthy level of self-esteem and confidence in himself. Locus of control is mostly internal. BFI-2 scores: high conscientiousness and agreeableness. Moderate openness to experience and extraversion. Low negative emotionality.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Authority’s interview with the subject was characteristically pleasant and relaxed, even when sometimes discussing difficult subjects. In many ways, subject seems unchanged from the early days when authority first met him. He continues to be thoughtful and considerate of professional propriety, happy to indulge in cheerful banter and conversation, and eminently approachable by even those who seem to know him only by reputation. Layered deep under his happy mannerisms, however, subject disclosed that he was enduring a sense of weariness and has been finding it increasingly difficult to take pauses from the work to look up and around him at the world that seems to be passing him by.

Authority recognizes that the subject has always generally kept his cards close to his chest, so to speak, and he often effaces a positive outlook for others while potentially feeling something else internally, making it difficult to form genuine connections with others. Subject was encouraged and agreed to make a concerted effort to seek more social opportunities in order to connect more concretely with other individuals, both new and old alike. As subject has high resiliency, his command is unlikely to be impacted by these developments, but authority ultimately hopes for better than the subject’s simple sufficiency.

Subject trends moderately positive on world view, and more neutral to slightly negative on the motivations of others. Self-esteem levels are on the lower end of the spectrum. Locus of control is balanced. Emotional support network has potential for improvement. BFI-2 scores: high openness to experience, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and extraversion. PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Basic Profile Assessment.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Some of the impact of the subject’s unique career trajectory can be clearly observed in her attitude and presentation. Subject holds herself with obvious confidence which manifests itself in multiple ways, from the way she delivers easy compliments about those who surround her to her fairly physical style of self-expression. Despite this, subject is mindful of the potential line for arrogance and stated that she doesn’t seek validation from others, which potentially means her habitual flirtatious gestures could be an affectation purely for the benefit of those she’s interacting with.

Many of subject’s responses additionally pointed to a treasured sense of independence, both in her personal life and in professional competence. Subject holds no particular affinity for her family relations, evidently mutually content with their rarely overlapping lifestyles. She was capable of fluidly moving from a lighthearted emotional state to a more serious one and vice versa, neither in denial of difficult moments in her past nor excessively bogged down by them. Most of subject’s answers came easily to her, but subject was reasonably thoughtful with questions where no impulse answer came to mind.

Subject trends moderately optimistic in outlook and neutral on the motivations of others. Balanced locus of control. Emotional support network is most likely less than adequate, though subject seems unlikely to care. BFI-2 scores: high openness to experience, extraversion. Moderate agreeableness and conscientiousness. Low negative emotionality.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Throughout interview, authority primarily noted how subject was brimming with a restless sort of ambition and a distinct desire to prove himself. Subject craves new experiences and the gratification that comes from living those experiences, perhaps also the regard and respect from others that sometimes accompanies that. Subject was candid with his responses and periodically interjected with humor. He was sometimes thoughtful, but there were also multiple times when the subject was caught off guard by authority’s inquiries, evidencing incredulousness or impatience, as if the answers should have been too obvious to warrant the question. Authority suspects it is possible the subject may not indulge in much self-introspection or detailed planning for the future.

Subject currently estranged from surviving family, a topic he was reluctant to dwell on for too long, but appears to be establishing strong ties of friendship. Cited only a few recreational activities and most appear to involve the participation or competition of others, so subject may be a bit over reliant on social connections in order to decompress.

Subject trends strongly optimistic with high self-confidence, only moderately positive on the motivations of others. Locus of control is definitively external. BFI-2 scores: high openness to experience, agreeableness, extraversion. Moderate negative emotionality. Low conscientiousness.

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

During interview, subject was frankly skittish and agitated, actively avoiding eye contact and generally providing terse responses to questions that were asked. While subject’s personal background, young age, and junior rank do provide substantive explanations for this behavior, authority nonetheless saw fit to confront the subject on the necessity of adjusting his expectations to befit those of a Starfleet officer safely amongst his peers.

Subject received said advice with a modicum of embarassment, but also a sort of resigned acknowledgement. Subject would most likely benefit from periodic introspection to honestly assess if he is making progress, as it is often all too easy to let force of habit carry us through our days. Authority otherwise notes that subject possesses a pensive manner and, despite their brevity, generally gave candid answers. Subject is fundamentally cautious, disposed to waiting and anticipating when action may be needed.

Subject’s opinion on the motivations of others is neutral to negative, while his worldview remains neutral. Some of subject’s answers suggested he might have ordinarily been more inclined towards optimism, but personal experiences have retrained him to be reflexively more guarded. Emotional support network is inadequate. Locus of control is determinedly external. BFI-2 scores: high conscientiousness, agreeableness. Moderate openness to experience. PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Basic Profile Assessment

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

First and foremost, the subject’s disdain for counselors must be noted as a factor in this evaluation. Prior instances of mandatory counseling following traumatic events have left a strongly negative impression upon the subject. Whether past counseling efforts have been successful despite her impression is questionable but probably moot, as it is highly likely that mandatory sessions are the only circumstances under which subject would receive psychological care in the future.

Subject has apparently been the victim of long-term prejudice based on her species and now, she believes, her disability. Subject has a healthy level of career-minded ambition and confidence in her work-related abilities, despite having generally resigned herself to low self-esteem. Subject reacts strongly to feeling judged, and feels it necessary to conceal her nature from those not otherwise informed.

Subject’s outlook trends towards pessimistic, mildly overall, but strongly on the motivations of others. Locus of control remains fairly balanced, despite an apparently weak personal sense of self. Emotional support network is somewhat diminished by recent transfer, but subject recognizes the significance and is likely to re-develop. Subject also maintains a notably strong relationship with her adoptive mother.

Subject rated particularly high in conscientiousness. Paired with moderately high openness to experience, her career path feels well-suited. Subject rated moderate in extraversion and negative emotionality, carried strongly by assertiveness and energy level with a propensity towards depression and very low sociability. This is consistent with noted low agreeableness, and a particular lack of trust. While subject’s scores may be viewed as a positive or even prerequisite for her job duties, there is potential concern for increased general stress levels and difficulty recovering from negative outcomes.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Basic Profile Assessment

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be conditionally fit for active duty, contingent upon attendance of regular counseling sessions.

DISCUSSION

Subject presented initially as pleasant and well-collected, if perhaps mildly nervous. His responses were generally thoughtful and sincere, with only a few brief instances of evasiveness. Though this assessment did not truly constitute a counseling session, a multitude of issues were discussed, and the subject seemed to react positively to feedback and to the opportunity to speak openly about his feelings. Despite perhaps a slight preoccupation with ensuring his return to duty, subject’s refreshingly positive attitude towards counseling bodes extremely well for the future.

As the subject is a relatively recent arrival to the station, new to large facility postings in general, and considering he has been thrust into a position of authority, it is perhaps understandable that he expressed a sense of isolation. Authority determined, however, that subject’s feeling is likely more deeply rooted, especially when viewed in light of other notable findings: reluctance to initiate new relationships, abandonment of recreational activities, difficulty sleeping, frequent recurrent nightmares involving a sense of helplessness, and significantly increased alcohol consumption.

These disturbances began with and are tied directly to a traumatic event ending subject’s previous posting. Subject is a survivor of the destruction of the USS Retribution. The ship’s captain, with whom subject maintained a friendship, as well as a significant portion of the crew were killed. Subject himself was forcibly placed in an escape pod by his compatriots at the last moment, interrupting his likely ill-fated attempts to rescue more of the crew. Subject’s current posting comes after a 1.5-month leave period, and represents a shift in his career trajectory. Subject has received no prior former counseling on the subject and has deliberately avoided discussing it with others.

Via self-evaluation and authority observation, subject’s outlook, both worldview and on the motivations of others, trends moderate-to-strongly optimistic with slightly higher than average self-esteem. Locus of control is balanced, leaning neither particularly internal nor external. Emotional support network is modest, with room for improvement. It includes a Starfleet admiral who’s served as something of a mentor after the death of subject’s parents, and friends from previous postings, now separated. Subject has not yet developed significant relationships aboard station, or resumed his previous hobbies, though he was open to authority’s suggestion that he begin making connections.

Like many on his career path, subject rated extremely highly in conscientiousness. Of note, openness to experience and agreeableness both rated high as well, with a particularly noteworthy level of trust. This correlates well with subject’s optimistic outlook and is well-suited to help balance a similarly high level of assertiveness. Extraversion rated moderately high, primarily due to assertiveness, while negative emotionality rated moderately low.

Subject’s BFI-2 scores and above noted general tendencies paint the picture of an extremely well-adjusted officer, likely to be fairly resilient. That he is, instead, struggling with clear and untreated psychiatric symptoms speaks to the severity of the trauma he endured and the need for ongoing counseling.

The standard profile assessment was extended to include PTSD screening criteria, which was 8/8 positive. Authority has entered an appropriate diagnosis into subject’s file as a result. Subject has recently received a prescription for sleep aids, which he reports are allowing him to function at or near his baseline level of performance. Medical file accessed for continuity of care and verification (ref: 99454). In the short-term, authority is satisfied with this treatment and content to clear him for active duty on the condition that he begin attending regular counseling sessions and that those sessions reflect improvement over time.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF EVALUATION

Counseling Routine Exam

CONCLUSION

Authority finds subject to be of sound mental health and fit for active duty.

DISCUSSION

Subject has not had a formal psychological evaluation performed by Starfleet in almost four years. Combat-related stressors noted at that time were not expected nor present in this instance, and subject seems to have largely moved on from those events.

Prior evals also noted difficulties in the wake of subject’s joining with symbiont Vel. Subject ended her post-joining recovery early to tend to her Starfleet duties, with negative results. Subject reported that she subsequently returned to Trill for an experience equivalent to the completion of the typical post-joining process. Despite subject’s report of everything now being normal, authority noted a marked difference between subject’s expressed and implied perceptions related to both her previous hosts and the relationship between current host and symbiont, when compared to the average Joined Trill. Further, authority discovered that the current host of the subject is the granddaughter of a previous host. Subject is, effectively, her own grandfather, which authority speculates may be responsible for some of the current host/symbiont dissonance. While this is definitely an oddity, authority does not believe it an active detriment to subject’s mental health. Should host/symbiont integration issues arise in the future, questions about the exact nature of Vel’s joining to Lunya should be directed to the Symbiosis Commission.

In the more recent past, subject experienced the loss of a family member. She appears to have dealt with her grief in a healthy manner and returned to duty after a reasonable period of leave. Subject reported few close friends, but she does maintain a variety of recreational activities that put her in regular social contact with members of her crew. Subject remains highly confident, consistent with prior post-joining evals, though authority notes that it seems to have been blunted by a measure of self-awareness and increased maturity. The previously-noted arrogance has diminished and subject’s responses felt authentic and considered.

Subject’s views and tendencies are extremely well-balanced with only a very very slight trend towards optimism on the opinions of others. Locus of control is likewise balanced, not leaning particularly internal nor external. Self-esteem is mildly positive. What subject’s emotional support circle lacks in depth is made up for by its breadth, though this is likely to balance out as well as subject becomes accustomed to her return to the 38th and has the opportunity to socialize outside her own subordinates.

Subject rates unusually high in conscientiousness, even compared to other officers with similar career paths, with similarly remarkably high scores in openness to experience and agreeableness. Aesthetic sensitivity and respectfulness are standouts in these areas. Assertive extraversion rated quite high as well. Subject scored virtually zero in negative emotionality. This field of responses indicates an officer likely to be both extremely effective and self-satisfied. While generally positive, this prompts some mild concern for a future inability to recognize emotional stressors and to learn from mistakes.

DISCUSSION

Subject presented as composed, easy-going, and well-adjusted. Results may be slightly skewed towards positivity as a result of subject’s recent transfer to a shipboard posting, which represents the fulfillment of a lifelong goal. Authority believes this effect to likely be minimal, however, especially considering the apparent ease and understanding with which subject accepted his previous “less ideal” posting.

Subject’s outlook trends generally optimistic, slightly in worldview but quite strongly on the motivations of others. Self-esteem is above average, and locus of control leans slightly external. Subject’s local emotional support network is new but growing, and despite self-describing as not particularly social, authority believes he is likely to avail himself of his support structure’s benefits more readily than most.

Like many career Starfleet officers, subject rated highly in conscientiousness and agreeableness. A moderately high openness to experience is likewise not particularly surprising in a driven engineer, and may indicate a propensity for outside-the-box thinking. Subject’s middling extraversion is driven primarily by energy level rather than assertiveness. Combined with correspondingly low negative emotionality, this strongly supports the subject’s self-stated satisfaction with his present career and position.

DISCUSSION

Subject’s unfortunate upbringing as a slave of the Orion Syndicate accounts for most of the observed idiosyncrasies documented below, though it is mildly concerning that subject has retained such a high degree of negativity despite the amount of time she has spent as a member of Starfleet.

Subject was easy to smile and open with her responses, if occasionally feeling disingenuous. Subject reported a distaste for being the object of attention commensurate with her species’ stereotypes, but displayed a paradoxical tendency to highlight those very stereotypes, diverting to them without prompting from otherwise unrelated lines of questioning. Likewise, to the extent that subject displayed any self-esteem, she emphasized the importance of her physical attractiveness over other qualities. Further, in response to a query about others’ opinions of her, subject responded in the literal sense, evoking the possible use of her pheromones for psychological manipulation. While this is, of course, biological fact, subject’s logical jump to that response in the context of social cues is a somewhat telling glimpse into her thought process.

Subject’s worldview and outlook on the motivations of others are both remarkably pessimistic. Self-esteem is low and emotional support network is lacking. Locus of control is strongly internal. Subject displayed very little ambition or particular planning for the future.

Authority must note a perceived discrepancy between subject’s freeform responses and BFI-2 scores, with a neutralizing effect applied to the later. While intentional deception is not suspected, these scores may be skewed by factors such as disinterest, self-assessment bias, or lack of trust. In fact, subject’s otherwise moderate agreeableness score is weighed down by low trust levels. Subject also rated low-to-moderately in conscientiousness and extraversion, with low points at assertiveness and responsibility. These scores were driven instead primarily by productiveness and energy level. Subject rates moderate negative emotionality with low emotional volatility. Subject rated highly in openness to experience, driven largely by aesthetic sensitivity.

Finally, of particular note, subject ambiguously reported some level of ongoing racial bigotry towards her among her peers, but cited only speculation about what others may say or view in the privacy of their own quarters. While this is obviously concerning and authority recommends subject’s chain of command monitor this situation closely, authority believes it plausible that subject’s cynicism and internal focus on her physical characteristics have led her to incorrect or exaggerated conclusions.
