… Praetor Nimitz has reportedly been replaced by a Synth to explain his sudden neutrality in the civil wars…

Of course there is no evidence… Although coincidentally several known vocal people behind this theory have tragically been killed in freak accidents.

Rumour has it that Rachel has… links with either SFI or S31… Neither connection has been confirmed, but it would explain her manipulative and shadowy tendencies in combat.

I.S.S. Baskin, Deck 7 Lounge

“I hear he still has Maxwell confined in his quarters.”
“What? That’s ridiculous, he killed Maxwell.”
I’m being ridiculous? He weighs twelve pounds, how could he kill a fully grown Terran, much less the Captain?”
“I don’t know. I don’t want to find out. Once this conversation is done I’m going to stop thinking about it.”
“So you’re comfortable serving under this… animal?”
“You call everyone that isn’t a human an animal.”
“Okay, but this time he is literally an animal!”
“I know, but when you use it so much it kind of takes the sting out of it. Like, the Vulcan in astrometrics? Animal. That Bajoran cook? Animal. The Admiral, twenty minutes ago, animal.”
“Right, I get that, but he’s a cat!”
“Again, you call Cait-”
Yes I know I call Caitians cats but he is a literal actual housecat!”
“But you see what I mean about-”
BY GOD EMPEROR CRUSHER’S HOLY GOLDEN THRONE IF YOU DO NOT SHUT UP I WILL-”
Fine, fine, fine! Sheesh. Every morning, you always find something to scream about. Just one quiet breakfast and an English muffin, is that so much to ask…”

Rumor has it that almost a quarter of Battle Station Argo’s slave population has accepted Perim’s offer of amnesty/freedom for service, with more signing up every hour.

The whole process has been remarkably peaceful and orderly, with each now-former slave being assigned the rank of Crewman and issued a uniform, a combadge, and a phaser. They’re being assigned crew quarters in a designated section, and given training/assignments from officers loyal to the Admiral.

A few slaves who had previously been Terran Officers have been restored to their previous ranks, though the exact criteria for this privilege has not been publicized.

Though no notable incidents have been reported yet, It is easy to speculate that things may quickly break down once these uniformed, armed former-slaves begin walking freely about the station.

Rumor has it that Battle Station security has began to aggressively interrogate the labor forces. Those that are found to have skill beyond general labor have been conscripted to Admiral Perim’s war force. This has led to minor scraps with station security.

Rumor has it that the ISS Forrestal has refused to respond to any status inquiries, and soon after an audio message was heard from Captain Vel

Rumor has it that for whatever reason, the ISS Midway seems to lack a definitive crew manifest outside of the presence of its captain. In fact, no one has ever seen any crew come or go from the vessel aside from Captain Flynn since he took command though it has been speculated that extensive modifications have been made to the Midway’s systems. It has also been said that when sensors scan the ship, they can only detect a single lifeform aboard, despite operating at maximum efficiency. Even its fighter complement seems to be a mystery…

Speculation about what antique weapon the Kihai is selling has been running rampant. The vessel’s XO, an old Romulan answering to the name “Jalme”, has been a fixture at the bar since the auction was announced, but thus far has politely refused to clarify the matter. Possibilities circulating among the curious and bored include a kleegat, a decommissioned tricobalt satellite, an ushaan-tor, a handheld thalaron generator, an ahn-woon, and even an old Dopterian interceptor. Perhaps relatedly, the station’s money-lenders have had to get choosy about how much credit they are willing to extend, and to whom.

Rumor has it, that Vulcan wretch from that backwater M’Talas is some sort of spy or informant for Varley. Either that or some new toy she’ll shunt out an airlock within the week.

Apparently a full week was an optimistic guess. The hot gossip around the Duchess of Montreal would have you believe that her latest xeno informant-slash-pet has deeply offended her in the middle of a rather compromising intimate moment. There are as many different versions of the story as there are mouths to tell it, but one thing seems certain: the offending party is fleeing for his life.

Reports have been coming in that Valkyrie fighters with strange markings have been seen raiding Terran Empire supply ships en route to Battle Station 13. There has still yet to be a confirmed sighting of the I.S.S. Forrestal but it is a safe bet she’s somewhere in the sector!

Observers on both sides of the war have noticed that Alliance propagandist KLIN_ZHA_MASTER missed a daily dispatch deadline today. It’s unusual enough that some are speculating as to what might have befallen the prolific author.

Early impressions from the rescue crews working on the I.S.S. Regular Ship wreckage indicate that the ship will be ruled a total loss. The spaceframe and all major systems appear compromised beyond repair.

Meanwhile, Capt. Mohadeb is rumored to have been seen alive on Battle Station 13 at or about the time the ship was destroyed. However, these rumors remain unsubstantiated as he has not reported in since the incident.

Among well traveled merchants within the Terran Empire, a rumor has been circulating about a power struggle in the mysterious Romulan Star Empire. A ruling Consul was assassinated and unknown parties attempted to seize control of the Star Empire. Said attempt appears to have failed. No weapons fire has been reported within Romulan territory.

Coincidently, as well, a Terran battlegroup went missing while patrolling near the Romulan border. The only clue is the report of a civilian vessel, which indicates they heard horrific screaming following by silence on the comms. No traces of the Terran battlegroup have been uncovered despite extensive investigation.

Compilation of Recent Reports

Transmissions from KLIN_ZHA_MASTER are being rebroadcast on a local terran frequency.

The ISS Saganami, carrying Praetor Alistair Nimitz, escorted by the ISS Ozawa and the Yamamoto have departed for Terra to attend the annual Summit of Governors, held for the first time since the Coronation of Empress Leeta.

The I.S.S. Regular Ship has docked at Battle Station 13.

The I.S.S. Forrestal has stopped answering communications from Terran Empire sources.

The I.S.S. Midway has departed from Battle Station 13.

The I.S.S. Sydney has docked with BS13 after decloaking right inside the Station’s Sensor net… some poor sensor operator is about to have a fun session in an Agoniser Booth…

The S.S. Kihai has departed BS13 and was last registered departing the system at maximum warp (7).

The notorious Alliance propagandist known as KLIN_ZHA_MASTER is in Imperial Starfleet custody following a raid conducted by special forces personnel which breached her stronghold on stardate 100258.6. Reports attached to the incident credit Starfleet Intelligence Captain Mohadeb for masterminding the security intrusion which exposed KLIN_ZHA_MASTER’s whereabouts and enabled the raid.

After a furious battle against the I.S.S. Midway in which she sustained heavy damage but escaped, I.S.S. Forrestal was combat operational again within twenty hours.

The I.S.S. Midway suffered damage to her impulse engines in the aftermath of the battle and lost several of her fighters. However, the repairs proceeded fairly quickly with the lost craft being replaced once the ship returned to Battle Station 13. With the challenge issued towards the Duchess from the I.S.S. Forrestal’s captain, the Midway’s own captain has decided to throw in his support for Captain Varley in the event she decides to respond to the provocation.

The I.S.S. Regular Ship was critically damaged by an explosion while docked at BS13. Of the 78 souls listed on the crew manifest, there are 12 confirmed survivors, 25 confirmed dead, and 41 still unaccounted for. CAPT Mohadeb, who only 24 hours ago was being hailed for his role in capturing a notorious enemy propagandist, is among those whose status remains unclear.

The explosion occurred after a cargo transport identified as the S.S. Special Delivery hailed the Regular Ship to request docking permission at 0040. Initial debriefing from survivors indicates that the Regular Ship was already suffering serious systems failures due to computer core malfunctions, which compromised the crew’s ability to verify the cargo transport’s authorization. Docking permission was granted with the commanding officer’s approval. Shortly thereafter, at 0044 hours, the cargo transport detonated, completely destroying itself and crippling the Regular Ship. BS13 suffered serious damage to its docking ring as well, jeopardizing the station’s timeline for combat readiness certification.

Spectral analysis of the wreckage and passive sensor readings from the station have implicated the presence of tricobalt. An investigation into who is responsible for this attack is underway

The I.S.S. Baskin has returned to BS-13, its raids on the Alliance Border cut short by news of the Regular Ship’s destruction. Crews have begun offloading supplies and munitions “confiscated” from a number of unfortunate Alliance vessels.

THE TERRAN IMPERIAL HERALD

TERRAN BATTLEGROUP GOES MISSING

A Terran battlegroup went mysteriously missing while patrolling the Romulan border. Scout ships reported no signs of weapons fire. A nearby star, however, appeared to be emitting a series of high intensity solar events. The Imperial Scientific Division believes the battlegroup was vaporized from one of these high intensity solar events.

The regional Admiral of the sector was arrested for failing to inform the battlegroup of the dangers in this region of space. In fact, evidence indicates that the regional Admiral purposely had these ships pass near this star system to remove his rivals. For his treachery, he was summarily executed.

Imperial Starfleet’s Intelligence Division has also wished to assure its citizens that the so called Romulan Star Empire was not responsible. No evidence was uncovered indicating their involvement.

Two weeks after the destruction of the ISS Regular Ship, the still-damaged and behind schedule Battle Station 13 was declared (optimistically) fully operational. The statement itself, if not the facility’s actual state, supports the 38th Battlefleet’s solidified control over the Aldebaran sector.

The battlefleet itself was slower to recover from the chaos leading up to the station’s activation. Increased security and scrutiny delayed or prevented exceptionally cutthroat actions from most in the immediate aftermath. Ships and crews were redeployed to cover losses suffered near the Romulan border, and anti-alliance operations increased as terrorists and sympathizers took the public blame for the damage and delays. One noteworthy rumor is that the drug-addled slave known as “Hand” somehow managed to gain command of a battlefleet starship and commission at the rank of Captain. Whether he received this commission before or after taking command of the ship is a matter of some debate.

Field Marshall Aluk’s arrival soon after brought an end to the year-long uncertainty facing the battlefleet, though the entire visit carried overtones of disappointment for most. The disastrous infighting resulted in none of the battlefleet’s high-ranking and influential captains receiving the glamorous flag promotions for which they’d been competing. Instead, a series of widely unpopular decisions ensued.

Command of Battle Station 13 was handed to newly-promoted Captain “Subject Four”. The elevation of a junior officer from a non-command position into such a prestigious role was controversial, but perhaps not surprising given the former-Lieutenant’s background in loyalty investigation and anti-dissident operations.

Another surprise appointment and leapfrog promotion came for Lieutenant Commander Vee Williams, who was elevated to Captain, and then quickly to Commodore, taking the role of Battlefleet Executive Officer. Some assert that the Field Marshall chose him because of his mixed heritage, but more likely he was simply a logical choice given reports of his conduct during the infighting. While it is unusual for an individual player to rise above his superiors without some kind of decisive victory, it is perhaps an understandable move from Terran Command, looking to quell instability in the region.

Rather than a candidate from within, the post of Battlefleet Commander was instead filled by Admiral Robert Murphy, an 89 year-old human who, prior to his transfer to the 38th, was rumored to be retiring. Curiously, all of his initial appearances and meetings with fleet officers held aboard Battle Station 13 were also attended by the Savant Adjunct, who appears to be playing a much more prominent role in the battlefleet’s new administration.
