Ship Readiness Inspections

Ship Readiness Inspections are an optional part of the post-recruitment process and are generally handled by Fleet Command or DS13 Engineering. It acts as a prompt and opportunity for starship-focused interaction, for those who want to expound more on their ship’s capabilities and highlights (or flaws!).

A written evaluation (on our part, not yours!) is usually the result of these interviews and gives you the chance to publicize your ship’s highlights (or flaws), and see if it’s being perceived the way you want it to. They usually take about 1 to 1.5 hrs and are by appointment only. To have one scheduled, contact the Fleet XO or Deep Space 13’s Chief Engineer or another engineer of your choice.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF INSPECTION

Ship inspections tend to fall in one of two categories.

General Readiness Inspection: A basic inspection to verify the operational status and capabilities of a vessel and its crew. These are generally routine evaluations which may be performed upon a vessel’s transfer into a new fleet or squadron, at the request of a command authority, or at random intervals. These inspections are performed by a command authority.

Technical Inspection: A detailed and thorough inspection of a starship’s systems and components by an engineering authority. These inspections may be routinely scheduled as part of a vessel’s maintenance cycle, or requested by a command authority in response to a suspected technical issue. Technical inspection results are often directly utilized by command authorities to assist in decisions regarding the vessel’s future.
