Due to my current squadron commander being unavailable, I wanted to submit this proposal to you:
I am proposing a CAPABILITY TEST to which the USS Iowa will be utilized in a moderate to long range Scientific/Exploration role. Currently, these roles are assigned to specialist ships, or long range cruisers. Due to situations that arise, these ships may not always be available. What I am proposing is that with correct supply, loadout and equipment, the USS Iowa, an Armitage Class Escort Carrier, will be able to fulfill these roles not only sufficiently, but excel in this purpose. As it stands right now, I am prepared to alter the ship's current small craft compliment and take on an additional four (4) runabout type craft, five (5) shuttles (of various type based on availability). Fighter compliment will be reduced from thirty (30) to twenty-five (25). Also our current security compliment can be reduced by ten (10) to allow for a full science team to be stationed aboard the ship.
Prior to this proposal I have drafted all equipment and personnel requests, and have attached them to this message. I have talked to my command staff on a one on one basis, and each are eager to "See what's out there" so to speak.
Please let me know if this can be authorized, and if you have any questions, please contact me.
Cmdr. L. Vel- Commanding Officer USS Iowa
