Intrepid Class (Flight two) NCC-74666 United Federation of Planets Starfleet/Khitomer Alliance Active |
| |
The USS Agamemnon (NCC-74666) Is a Flight Two Intrepid class, also sometimes referred to as the Argent class. The Agamemnon is a newer ship compared to most Intrepid class vessels, having only been launched in 2423. After two years, Agamemnon was slated for Alliance service, undergoing retrofit to serve as a flagship.
History
NCC-74666 was originally ordered for construction among the first wave of the Intrepid class, slated as the final vessel to be commissioned. The 74666 was not yet assigned a name when the frame was started over the shipyards of Mars, unfortunately the Borg invasion of 2373 and rising tensions leading to the outbreak of the Dominion War postponed more work upon the 74666 due to the demand for more offensive capable vessels. After the Dominion War, the 74666 was relocated to the surface of Mars and construction began once more. Due to lessons learned over the course of the Dominion War and testing of the Intrepid class, as well as the Voyager’s return. Changes to the design for the second wave of Intrepid classes once again pushed the 74666 to the bottom of the list. When the 74666 was slated to require a name, her commissioning board was forced to halt and pause work upon the 74666 when Starfleet and the Federation began to construct a rescue fleet for the Romulan people.
The 74666 was still on the surface of Mars when the Synth workers rebelled and ravaged Mars and the shipyards of Utopia Planitia. It was not until 2420 when workers rebuilding the planet side elements of Utopia Planitia rediscovered the mostly intact frame and hull of the 74666. This time she was given the priority to finish construction, and finally given the name ‘Agamemnon’. The Agamemnon would be commissioned into Starfleet service in 2423 to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the Mars attack, more then 53 years after she was ordered. Surviving members of the first wave of Intrepid class vessels attended, including the USS Voyager, to escort their long awaited sister into service.
For two years the Agamemnon saw very little activity aside from serving as a diplomatic shuttle between various members of the Alliance. It was decided in 2425 by Starfleet Command that the Agamemnon would be retrofitted into a flagship to serve the Khitomer Alliance. Her Command team were reassigned as well as much of her crew.

The flight two Intrepid features several changes from the original line, most notably in changes to the warp nacelles, converting to the Ceries Industries over Mercurion Inova Inc. The saucer section of the Flight Two Intrepid also has the lack of a secondary deflector array, instead adding two additional phaser strips along the hull as the original two phaser strips are combined into one merged strip. As part of its Flagship retrofit, Deck 3 is being converted a Flag bridge as well as support room for the Admiral and their staff, there will also be the addition of two more torpedo tubes based on Khitomer Alliance designs, allowing them to be retractable as well as featuring a rotary tube, first developed for the Akira class, allowing for wider angles of fire and faster reloading times.

Service Life

Flag Bridge
The Agamemnon has been a common sight over orbit of New Romulus and Qo’noS since she entered service. Serving as a diplomatic courier as Alliance members began evolving joint service. Upon the announcement of Deep Space 13 being converted for service for the Khitomer Alliance, The Agamemnon was an easy choice to be chosen for service among the new planned joint fleets.
The triple Six curse
A vessel that took over fifty years from ordered to becoming commissioned would gather a reputation, some of her early crew adopted the term the triple six curse from older pre-Earth superstitions over early engineering growing pains.
