SUBJ Shackleton Refit Schedule |

Everyone:
Our refit operations begin this week; we have much to do in the coming month. Upgrades to the Warp Drive, Shield Systems, Phaser Arrays, Sensor Arrays, and Tractor Beam systems must all be completed and tested in this timeframe. This communication will assign team leads for each section and an expected schedule for when tasks should begin and finish. H'ajah-Commander, I hope we can count on DS13's staff to supplement our own for a swift and efficient refit; feel free to assign team leads as you see fit to work alongside ours.
The Warp Drive upgrades will be attempted in three stages. First will be replacing the GE Mk X-8b Warp Core with a Yoyodyne 45A M/ARC Warp Core; I expect this to be completed by Stardate 96607.1. Llohsa-Lieutenant, you will oversee the replacement operation. Second will be the swapping of all Warp Coils in both nacelles, which will occur at the same time as the warp core replacement. th'Terias-Lieutenant, you will be in charge of the warp coil replacement operation. Finally, once both of these operations are complete, the warp plasma conduits linking the core to the coils will be upgraded to allow increased plasma flow to the nacelles. Everton-Lieutenant, you will oversee this operation. Completion of all steps should be done by Stardate 96629.1, and static tests by Stardate 96637.3. We expect these upgrades will allow us to generate warp fields up to 1,900 Cochranes (up from the existing limit of 1,450 Cochranes), and increase our maximum cruising speed from Warp 9.5 to Warp 9.65. I do not anticipate any changes to our standard cruising speed or our maximum warp speed, although these improvements will allow us to sustain higher warp speeds for longer.
Once the Warp core is installed, EPS conduits leading to the Phaser Arrays, Shield Generator and Tractor Beam will need to be upgraded to facilitate the planned upgrades in those sections. Khet-Lieutenant, you will oversee this task. Have all stated conduits upgraded by Stardate 96628.0, please.
Once the EPS conduits have been upgraded, we will replace the Mk XIII phaser emitters in all eight arrays with MK XIV emitters. Senak-Lieutenant, work with zh'Cholal-Commander on the phaser upgrades and tests. The damage to the ventral phaser array will add to the time needed; but I expect a suitable finishing time to be Stardate 96642.8. We will also attempt Shield and Tractor Beam upgrades within this timeframe. Valerian-Lieutenant, you will be in charge of the shield upgrade, while Laureline-Lieutenant will be in charge of tractor beam upgrades.
Finally, the Lateral Sensor Arrays are to be expanded. We will be replacing the 8 DYN-90 Sensor Suites with 16 DYN-115 Sensor Suites. These suites are smaller than the DYN-90s, but will allow for greater resolution for long-range imaging. We will also replace the sensor pallets for these suites at the same time. The upgrade will begin on Stardate 96645.5 and finish by Stardate 96659.2. Pollack-Lieutenant will be in charge of the sensor upgrades.
Since phaser, shield, tractor beam and sensor upgrades will take place during the standard Fleet Summer Leave Rotation, teams assigned may consider themselves on leave as of now, and return to duty by Stardate 96631.1. All other teams should find their leave time unchanged from the standard rotation.
May your children see the Springtime,
