15 Nov: The Bodyguards, part 2

Attempt to lure Sheliak elite escort squadron known as the Bodyguards into a trap was only partially successful, as more enemy ships join the fray…

Shift Time: Sunday, Nov 15, Alpha -1

Audience: Klingon and allies

Event Type: Combat RP

Starting Point: Starship bridge

OOC point of contact: @anncarise

AND NOW THE CONCLUSION

B’Atar@anncarise | LAST TIME ON ZENAS PRIVATEERS

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: “The Sheliak have an escort squadron, nine ships in total. They’ve been driving off our strikes on their fleet.”

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: Sadia: “I guess we’ll have to draw them away from the fleet and destroy them quick with overwhelming force, then fall back before the main force catches up.”

B’Atar@anncarise | Hach’Qo: “My sensors are picking up 5 unidentified ships approaching the Sheliak fleet.”

B’Atar@anncarise | Sadia: “Could be mercs, we did post a bounty on Sheliaks…or maybe Cardassians.”

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: “Captain, looks like we’ve only drawn three of them! Should we continue with the plan and lure them to the ambush site?”

B’Atar@anncarise | Sadia: “Three is better than none. Even if the merc would listen to us and break off, enemy will suspect foul play.”

B’Atar@anncarise | Sadia: “Besides, let’s see what caliber of mercenaries can the cardassian sector provide.”

B’Atar@anncarise | Daramar snares the lead vessel and pummels it with torpedoes, completely vapourizing it. The others take a few torpedoes and are left damaged but marginally operational.

B’Atar@anncarise | A second heavy cruiser begins turning as the fleet spots what Daramar did to the three escorts. It waits briefly on the edge of the fleet as the six escorts converge behind the two heavies.

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: “Yeah, this is going to be a lot tougher than the first group. And a lot more fun!”

B’Atar@anncarise | AND NOW THE CONCLUSION…

B’Atar@anncarise FX | On the tactical map, the Sheliak formation of two heavy cruisers and six escorts move towards them…

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: <C> We’ve got more heavies, but they’ve got the advantage in smaller ships. Never thought that’d happen with the Sheliak…

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> And the LI’taH is still under cloak, so we have a surprise working for us.

Egzo@HF_Mudd <FX> Hag’lhr recloaks also, rippling and fading as it comes about in a wide, sweeping turn to face the oncoming foes.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> As usual, Daramar will draw the fire, and focus on one of the cruisers. We are charging the main autocannon, that should hopefully bring their shields down at least.

B’Atar@anncarise FX | San’leth and the rest of Kor squadron recloaks too as the Sheliak ships come closer, flying slower in formation with the cruisers than the escorts usually do on their own.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: <C> Figure we’ll play tag with the raiders, as usual, and go for shots on the cruisers when we can.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> to Hach’Qo Captain, use the distraction as you see fit, we’ll try to provide you an opening.

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: <C> Sounds like a plan.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> Boost the forward shields and prepare to give and take a pounding!

B’Atar@anncarise | On Thana’s bridge, Magren Salaa announces, “They’re coming into range for us to drop a gravity well in 10 seconds, Tabadi.”

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: “Do it.”

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: to A’tral Lieutenant, if you have any ideas, now’s the time.

B’Atar@anncarise - ROUND ONE -

B’Atar@anncarise - LORRI’S TURN -

Lorri@crystyll FX | Thana deploys said gravwell.

[Emotes] Lorri@crystyll: rolls 7 (1-100)

[Local] A’tral@jackstoofer: “Well Captain, if you think you can hold your breath… I can divert all available power to weapons” He grumbled. “Or shields.”

[Team] Lorri@crystyll: …

[Team] B’Atar@anncarise: aww

[Team] Lorri@crystyll: fkit, no rerolling on 1st turn of the day

[Team] Lorri@crystyll: stuff will just have to magically not work this time

B’Atar@anncarise | Thana’s deflector lights up, projecting a gravity well into the Sheliak fleet. For the briefest moment, the Sheliak formation begins to break, when suddenly the deflectors of the Sheliak cruisers each emit a pulse and the gravity well collapses.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: chuckles How will I shout orders if I’m out of air? Assist as you see fit, science console is yours to command

B’Atar@anncarise | Magren Salaa: “They’re emitting something that’s interfering with our deflector’s ability to sustain the gravity well in its current position!”

B’Atar@anncarise - A’TRAL’S TURN -

[Team] B’Atar@anncarise: Putting your turn first if you want to play with power related things to buff Sadia’s turn.

A’tral@jackstoofer chuckles to himself, beginning to redistribute power from all non essential systems, and maybe a touch from some of the essential ones.

[Emotes] A’tral@jackstoofer: rolls 79 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | A’tral manages to boost Daramar’s weapons by quite a significant amount without needing to cut into /too/ many essential systems…

B’Atar@anncarise - SADIA’S TURN -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> Time to draw their full attention! Target starboard-side cruiser and open fire, all front weapons!

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> Daramar’s autocannon spools up and starts spewing a burst of heavy disruptor bolts, followed by heavy dual beam banks and quantum torpedoes…

[Emotes] Sadia@gulremal: rolls 56 (1-100)

[Local] A’tral@jackstoofer: “If you feel the air getting colder, and the air getting thinner… don’t worry- These will only make our deeds more worthy of song, backed by the courous of our weapons!” He joyously announced

B’Atar@anncarise | With the boosts provided by A’tral, Daramar’s autocannons slam into the side of one of the Sheliak heavy cruisers, dealing heavy shield damage and bringing their shields down to half in the opening volley.

B’Atar@anncarise - HACH’QO’S TURN -

[Local] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: <C> Move us to flank the Sheliak vessels, All fighters target the escorts, load quantum torpedoes for maximum yield, and target their weapons systems, decloak and fire on my command. NOW!

[Emotes] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: rolls 72 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The torpedoes impact the cruiser’s shields, further damaging its shields and getting them to the edge of collapse. LI’tah’s fighters launch, hitting the escorts assembled behind the cruisers by surprise, though not managing to take down their shields yet.

B’Atar@anncarise - EGZO’S TURN -

Egzo@HF_Mudd <FX> Hag’lhr reappears on the flank of one of the raiders and makes a run at it, trying to peel it off from the formation.

[Emotes] Egzo@HF_Mudd: rolls 93 (1-100)

[Team] Egzo@HF_Mudd: Looks like I did better than just a distraction :)

B’Atar@anncarise | Hag’lhr hits the raider, stripping away its shields entirely. It breaks off from the formation as expected, trying to shake Hag’lhr off it.

B’Atar@anncarise - B’ATAR’S TURN -

B’Atar@anncarise | Kor Squadron decloaks as the Hag’lhr does, picking their targets.

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 39 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | Kor Squadron is significantly less successful in actually landing damaging hits, partially due to the state of its ships and partly as the other escorts had a second to react after Hag’lhr’s attack, though they do gain the attention of the escorts they targeted.

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 30 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The flanking attack succeeds in ruining the Sheliak’s initial battle plan. The escorts scramble, one chasing after each of the Klingon raiders/raptors while the one hit by Hag’lhr continues to -

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: - try and shake its attacker and another turns to try and deal with LI’tah’s fighters, but don’t manage to shoot any down so far.

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 75 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The Sheliak cruisers have more luck. Daramar’s bridge shakes as the cruiser they attacked returns fire, taking down their shields to 70%. Upon seeing the LI’tah decloak, the Sheliak realizes -

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: - that their enemy has three larger ships instead of the anticipated two, and the still undamaged cruiser starts turning to engage and cut off the LI’tah from the rest of the task force vessels.

B’Atar@anncarise - ROUND TWO -

B’Atar@anncarise - LORRI’S TURN -

Lorri@crystyll FX | Thana moves to intercept the cruiser closing on Hach’Qo, both Interceptor squadrons swarming out and ahead of the forward cannon fire

[Emotes] Lorri@crystyll: rolls 76 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | Thana hits the cruiser going for the LI’tah, the interceptors and forward cannons taking their shields down to 65%!

B’Atar@anncarise - A’TRAL’S TURN -

A’tral@jackstoofer begins spooling up a tractor beam, targeting the ship they’re attacking. “They’re shields are so weak, I might be able to tractor directly onto their engines. Slow them down, maybe even rip them off! They’d be like a lame Targ begging for the slaughter”

[Emotes] A’tral@jackstoofer: rolls 87 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | A’tral’s plan works! The Daramar’s tractor beam locks on to the weakened Sheliak ship’s engines and tears them right off!

B’Atar@anncarise - SADIA’S TURN -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> Good work, target those engine openings, finish them off!

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> Daramar’s main weaponry fires at the weak spots in the torn areas of the enemy ship, trying to bypass the armor and hit exposed internal systems.

[Emotes] Sadia@gulremal: rolls 29 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | Daramar’s shots are powerful but apparently not precise enough. They score a few hits on the drifting Sheliak ship’s armour, though its armour appears to be quite tough. Parts of the hull are weakened, but it suffers no further critical damage.

B’Atar@anncarise - HACH’QO’S TURN -

[Local] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: <C> all fighters begin rotating battle cloaks, squadrons 1-3 break off and cloak, squadrons 3-6 coordinate attack runs. keep them guessing, LI’taH, fire at will on the damaged cruiser!

[Emotes] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: rolls 59 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The damaged cruiser takes further damage, many of its weapons systems beginning to fail, greatly restricting what it’s able to do. Rotating cloaks confuses the escort trying to keep the -

B’Atar@anncarise - fighters at bay and none of the fighters are hit while the escort takes several shots and begin to lose shields…

B’Atar@anncarise - EGZO’S TURN -

B’Atar@anncarise | The damaged escort hit by Hag’lhr is trying to get away, while a second escort has broken away to attack Hag’lhr.

Egzo@HF_Mudd is in one of his usual positions, lurking over Rritt’s shoulder as the helmcat does his best to match the Sheliak escort’s evasive maneuvers. “Stay with him, stay with him…”

Egzo@HF_Mudd hopes this will be enough, in turn, to keep him out of his own pursuer’s sights.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd:| All the while, Hag’lhr’s gunners are taking shots of opportunity as the Sheliak vessel flits in and out of their sights.

[Emotes] Egzo@HF_Mudd: rolls 31 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | Egzo scores a few hits on the damaged escort, whose systems begin failing as it slows and eventually drifts off, but the escort chasing Hag’lhr in turn manage to land a few hits, bringing Hag’lhr’s shields down to 60%

B’Atar@anncarise - B’ATAR’S TURN -

B’Atar@anncarise | Kor Squadron breaks off, each handling an escort and trying to keep them busy while the larger ships take care of the cruisers.

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 84 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | San’leth’s maneuverability gives it an advantage over its pursuer, allowing it to effectively throw it off while taking the opportunity to hit the two engaging Girak and Nomh, preventing the two other members of the squadron currently at half shields from taking more damage.

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 66 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The enemy escorts seem to have things in better order now. The one chasing Girak switches targets, supporting the one on San’leth and scoring a hits on the nimble bird of prey as they try to -

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: - take B’Atar out from two different angles. One remains hot on Hag’Ihr’s tail, though the one trying to hit fighters is having no luck still

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> A’tral, can you use tractor beams to ram this cruiser you hold into the second one as it’s turned its back on us?

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 29 (1-100

B’Atar@anncarise | The damaged cruiser is practically helpless now. The second cruiser fires on Thana from the aft to little effect, barely making a dent in the OSN flagship’s shields. It continues with its -

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: - original plan rather than turning back again, going full speed to engage LI’taH.

A’tral@jackstoofer chuckled under his breath, craning his neck towards Sadia. “I don’t hold the ship… but the engine, still volatile with plasma? I will deliver it to their bridge personally.”

B’Atar@anncarise - ROUND THREE -

B’Atar@anncarise - LORRI’S TURN -

Lorri@crystyll FX | Thana comes about and continues to pound the cruiser in its sights.

[Emotes] Lorri@crystyll: rolls 57 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The cruiser’s shields continue to drop. 50%. 40%. 30%…

B’Atar@anncarise - A’TRAL’S TURN -

[Local] A’tral@jackstoofer: “So, what will it be, Captain? Tug the ship, or turn their own power against them?”

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I trust your judgement, just make them hurt…a lot!

[Local] A’tral@jackstoofer: “That… I can do” He remarked, adjusting the heading of the broken engine and hurling it towards the other ship.

[Emotes] A’tral@jackstoofer: rolls 92 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The other cruiser is too slow to dodge and the damaged cruiser’s engine slams sidelong into it. The shields of the other ship already weakened, it is unable to withstand the explosion, which -

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: - causes a chain reaction through the ship that eventually detonates its own warp core, engulfing it in one large flash!

[Local] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: <C> cheers can be heard from the LI’taH

B’Atar@anncarise - SADIA’S TURN -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: You do not disappoint, lieutenant. Now, can someone finish off this other cruiser or do I need to go out in an EV suit and hit it with my sword?

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> Daramar’s main weapons continue pummeling the damaged cruiser, trying to remove it from the battlefield so it can refocus on the escorts

[Emotes] Sadia@gulremal: rolls 7 (1-100)

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: (reroll!)

[Emotes] Sadia@gulremal: rolls 70 (1-100

B’Atar@anncarise | Daramar pummels the damaged cruiser, the sheer power of the cannons soon tearing through the hull and ripping the cruiser apart.

B’Atar@anncarise - HACH’QO’S TURN -

[Local] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: <C> Create a resonance pulse and jam those escorts transmissions, all disruptor banks fire at will, all fighters, cover the Hagh’lr, get that escort off it.

[Emotes] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: rolls 90 (1-100)

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> Finally! to A’tral Lieutenant, refocus the tractor beams to slow down remaining enemy escorts. Also, someone give me sensor readings on the enemy fleet, can’t let them sneak more reinforcements on us.

[Local] A’tral@jackstoofer: “Perhaps these escorts will prove less… brittle” He smirked, doing as commanded.

B’Atar@anncarise | The escorts’ transmissions are jammed and the LI’taH opens fire on the escorts at will. The one chasing the fighters loses its shields and starts going evasive while the fighters close in and force the one chasing Hag’lhr to break off

B’Atar@anncarise | The escort initially hit by Hag’lhr is drifting and crippled but still intact. Kor Squadron continues to dance with three other escorts, with two of them focusing on San’leth now.

B’Atar@anncarise - EGZO’S TURN -

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: <FX> Hag’lhr takes advantage of the respite to start recharging its rear shields while looking for another target … one of those escorts engaging San’leth will do nicely.

Egzo@HF_Mudd comes about and goes to the other raider’s aid.

[Emotes] Egzo@HF_Mudd: rolls 48 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | Hag’Ihr only manages to do some damage to the shields of the escort, but the shots get its attention and it moves off San’leth to engage Hag’lhr.

B’Atar@anncarise - B’ATAR’S TURN -

B’Atar@anncarise | San’leth takes the opportunity to dart away from the second escort chasing it and finish off the one that just lost shields from LI’taH’s fire.

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 100 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | San’leth swoops in, finishing off the shieldless escort. Its pursuer attempts to follow, but this brings it right in range of the LI’taH’s disruptor fire which happily locks on to the new -

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: - target and strips away its shields. It turns back and goes evasive, trying to retreat out of the LI’taH’s weapons range, but Girak, now free of any pursuers, chases it down and destroys it.

B’Atar@anncarise | Now heavily outnumbered and outgunned, the three still functioning escorts - one on Hag’lhr, one on Nomh and one evading the LI’taH’s fighters, start to go evasive and fall back.

[Emotes] B’Atar@anncarise: rolls 100 (1-100)

B’Atar@anncarise | The escorts prove why they were so effective against Kor Squadron previously, darting away, evading fire from their pursuers and soon completely throwing them off.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> That’s some super fast retreat…

[Local] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: <C> Cowards. None of them shall see sto’vo’Kor

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: <C> I don’t think Sheliak go there anyway, big guy.

B’Atar@anncarise | Before long, they have reconverged with the main Sheliak fleet, with the cover of far too many ships around them.

[Local] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: <C> not with an attitude like that

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> Well, we culled their numbers good enough for our raiders now. I’d count this as a success.

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: <C> “Aye, three is better than nine, and we got two of their big ones!”

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: <C> “Might want to rotate Kor Squadron out for repairs. We can run interference more successfully now with another squadron though. As good as these escorts might be, three’s not going to be a problem for us.”

[Local] A’tral@jackstoofer: <C> “They merely run from the inevitable… The light of our weapons will eclipse even the brightest star…”

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> Very well, Kor Squadron will return to the wejpuH tul with us for repairs and resupply.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> We have more victories to score, this is just the opening volley in this fight.

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: <C> “You heard the Captain, Kor Squadron! Girak, go and grab the Lesuqh where they’re making field repairs and rejoin us on the way.”

Egzo@HF_Mudd observes, as Hag’lhr rejoins the Klingon formation, “Don’t gotta beat 'em here and now, just bleed 'em good.”

[Local] B’Atar@anncarise: <C> “Aye. Looking forward to more battles to come!”

[Local] Hach’Qo@carebearcrusher: <C> begin recovery operations, all fighters return to the LI’taH, send a message to our birds of prey, bring them home.

B’Atar@anncarise - END SCENE -
