Starting point: Fleet starbase

OOC point of contact: @gulremal
Spoiler: Meeting transcriptShow
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *as she passes by, a PADD screen shows a list of...paintings?*

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *slumps in her chair* Heya, how's things?

Egzo@HF_Mudd has a PADD of his own out, and doesn't seem very happy by whatever's on it. A mug of ... something, half-empty and near forgotten, sits on the table before him.

Egzo@HF_Mudd offers a distracted "hey, boss" as he pokes at the tablet.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Trying t' get some answers. Letcha know when I do."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Sure, anything I can help with?

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Nah, not yet. Gotta sort this out m'self."

[Local] Warhunter Ku'jho@Domarg: Well met Captains.

Warhunter Ku'jho@Domarg salutes.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods to Egzo and then turns to Ku'jho* Captain, it's good to see you.

Egzo@HF_Mudd grunts a greeting to the Gorn.

Egzo@HF_Mudd picks up his mug from the conference table, takes a distracted swig, goes back to his PADD.

[Local] Warhunter Ku'jho@Domarg: You asss well.

Lorri@crystyll strolls in and takes her usual seat, "Greetings all"

[Local] Warhunter Ku'jho@Domarg: Well met Lorri.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Greetings, tabadi. How is business at home?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Booming, I'm glad to say. That recovered fleet has gone a long way to bolster things at our shipyards"

Egzo@HF_Mudd taps for a good while at his PADD, looks it over, then nods and presses 'Send'.

Egzo@HF_Mudd sets it down and aside, at least for now. "S'up?"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Awesome. At least some good has come from those "superweapons".

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "And then we just busted up another bunch."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: How long till the shipyards are back to full strength?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Relative to it's strength before the attack, it has long since surpassed that mark. Relative to it's full potential, this is as close as it's ever been"

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Nice."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: That's quite the improvement. Planning to do some private contracting work too?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Not really, we still have weak spots with the second colony and the liberated Dominion station. Most assets will go to bolstering those defenses so that we can do without relying on hired protection+

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: + for transports"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Dominion station?

Lorri@crystyll nods, "It was a cloning facility used by the Branded Lady's pirate fleet back when they were our adversaries. The OSN aided Starfleet in shutting it down a couple of years back, and staked a claim +

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: + on it - and the mineral rich planet it orbits - after they finished their work there"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Oh, that...I remember now. You must be running a big recruitment drive to fill the ranks?

Lorri@crystyll smirks, "Yes, our... 'recruitment drives' are crippling the Syndicates slave trade now"

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Which reminds me actually, you may be interested to know that my predecessor has become quite the martyr to the cause now. More and more liberated slaves are found whispering her name as a message +

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: + of hope, and even adorning themselves with the brand which has become more synonymous with her than the Syndicate cell who gave it to her"

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods grimly.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *her expression darkens at the mention of Mysti* Hope...well, as long as it helps people. Syndicate will be moving against you to stem this.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "At the exponential rate of our own expansion, including alliances with other powers, even they know they would be foolish to try. Not to say that would stop them of course..."

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "But I think they know it is only a matter of time before we reclaim the homeland from them and force them into obscurity once and for all"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: That would be the day.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd steps into the meeting room, "Tabadi. Captain Cynis." She gives the others a simple nod of greetings.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *notices Kayd and nods back* Let's start with the official meeting.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "The irony now being that with all the love and work that has gone into the new homeland, part of me thinks that would more than likely remain our new home-" looks up, "Tabadi" she smiles

[Team] Istar@anncarise: Oh I'm here as Kayd for this one!

Warhunter Ku'jho@Domarg gives Kayd a greeting nod back.

Istar@anncarise smiles back as she heads over and takes the seat beside Lorri.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Firstly, I'd like to hear the report regarding the breen drill situation.

Egzo@HF_Mudd grunts a greeting to Kayd.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Drills, right, yeah. We blew 'em up."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Or wrecked the insides, some of 'em with their own drone units."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Took out a cruiser and some raiders too."

Egzo@HF_Mudd looks pleased with himself, taking up his mug and draining what's left in it.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *grins* And the entire shipyard, at least if Voice is correct.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Yeah, that one we captured blew up /real/ good."

Egzo@HF_Mudd grins nastily.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I am very satisfied with the end results. Breen operations in D'rexian space have been crippled. Voice reports that the Resistance has destroyed all but a single drill that was previously deployed.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: One of the D'rexian main planets, Garden of Wisdom, has fully repelled the Breen forces and is establishing orbital defenses. Voice wanted to send us a hefty mineral haul as the reward, but I refused and-

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - asked that they use it for rebuilding their own defenses. I am sending Widrab engineering teams to help them out, along with 3 support squadrons.

Egzo@HF_Mudd squints at the boss, then ohs and nods as she explains her reasons.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Okay, sure. That works."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Without True Way and Maral in the vicinity, we can finally spare some forces and start pushing the Breen back.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Or at least keep them busy somewhere else. *to Egzo* Don't fret, that Morrs Combine boss you spoke with, he sent us quite a haul of "refined warp crystals".

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Morrsian freighter delivered hefty shipment of refined dilithium. Third of this will be shared with OSN, third will stay here, and third will be sent to D'rexian resistance for fleet rebuilding effort

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods again, with more feeling.

Egzo@HF_Mudd repeats, "Nice."

Lorri@crystyll bows her head in acknowledgment of the payout, "A most fortuitous payout that couldn't be better timed"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to Egzo* Don't worry, you'll get your cut too. And if anyone has any ship upgardes in mind, now is the best time to schedule them. Task force is in good shape - regarding current state of vessels, so

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - some of the drydocks are empty and available.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "My crews'll be glad t'hear that. Some of 'em have been waitin' in line for repairs, behind the KDF regulars."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "I tells 'em, they'll get their turn, they just gotta wait some times."

Egzo@HF_Mudd shrugs.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods* Unfortunately plans to expand our shipyard facilities are on hold. We've got new crowd of refugees incoming, and most of the techs will be busy with the expansion work on the Chu tul colony.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: There are still hundreds of millions of Iconian war refugees scattered all over the temporary shelters within the Empire. With many of their home worlds completely destroyed, they need new homes.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Chu tul is a big planet and it can hold quite a lot of people, but it still needs a proper infrastructure to house all the newcomers. And we will have to work on setting up more colonies this year.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "In light of the continued expansion to our own colonies we discussed earlier, we may be in a position now to start welcoming increaed numbers to both sites in support of this"

Istar@anncarise | Kayd nods, "I was just about to say as well."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Where're we gonna get these people?"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to Lorri* Tabadi's Circle should bring this offer directly to the High Council.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Agreed"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: High Command expects our task force to house 2 million people by the end of this year. Half of that will be housed on Chu tul, while the rest will be spread across the other colonies under our control

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Acquisition of those cardassian colonies has been quite a boon, especially the agrarian planet of Tiani Prime, now run by Latima Urnal. This will soften the logistical blow of having to feed all the -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - mouths. I planned to use the extra produce for trade, but that's out of the airlock for now.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Anyhow.

Egzo@HF_Mudd comments, apparently to the table but really to those around it, "We've come a long way."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: It's... different, indeed. I cannot believe it's been over six years when we arrived here.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: To summarize my own info - we are spearheading a larger support campaign for D'rexian Resistance in hopes of keeping the Breen away from our own space. At the same time we have to juggle colony -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - expansion and industrial growth necessary to keep all off this working.

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods to the summary.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Therefore, most of the task force vessels will be running patrols, convoy escort and planetary defense setup duties.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Our own vessels will stand ready to deal with any special tasks or emergencies as they pop up.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Speaking of which, does anyone have an issue to bring up?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Nothing new which hasn't already been touched upon. Though we still have that excursion to investigate 'Underworld' on the cards, if you remember from last year"

Egzo@HF_Mudd reaches over and picks up his PADD, bringing up whatever he was working on before and looking it over while Lorri talks.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods* Yes, I do remember that, what will you require for that mission?

Lorri@crystyll shrugs, "Not a lot really as it's more recon based on reports we have received back. Consider it more... an invitation to join our expedition to investigate a promising source of new trade"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: When do you plan to kick it off?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Whenever suits really. We have been ready to launch since I first raised the point 6 months back, before this latest scuffle with the Breen drew our attention. It is up to you if you feel now the +

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: + time to pursue it or not, given everything else we have going on"

[Team] Sadia@gulremal: okies, so OOC, we are doing this next yes?

[Team] Lorri@crystyll: can do!

[Team] Egzo@HF_Mudd: Works for me.

[Team] Lorri@crystyll: would be nice to finally progress this one heh

[Team] Istar@anncarise: Yeah!

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "As for our end, the Colonial Fleet and OSN forces in the unexplored regions are still trying to zone in on the Scryer's signal."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "We're getting closer, but we got nothing we can act on yet. I'll let you know when we do."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: All right, in that case, this is the best time to pursue the Underworld expedition. Daramar is fully repaired and ready for action.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Yeah... so about that..."

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "To refresh on this; Underworld is several months away by convential travel methods"

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "So to travel there at warp would be committing to a 2 year expedition away from home territory. To pursue this, we will have to utilize a Carran Courier transport who can have us there via their +

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: + subspace corridor network in a matter of hours"

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Yeah, I like that lots better."

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Indeed"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: So, we are visiting the place on foot, right?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Correct"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Any idea what we can expect, what to bring along?

Lorri@crystyll looks to Kayd for the latest intelligence on the region

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "From what we know, Underworld is totally neutral territory. They have a contract based system, just about anything is legal if you sign a contract between two consenting parties, and once you sign -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - a contract the Carrans bind you to it, so you have to be careful what you sign."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "huh."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "I've never been there myself and Carrans don't visit our territories that often, but with their subspace corridors they can hunt you down just about anywhere. I've heard of them chasing -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - down Syndicate members who tried to back out of a contract all the way to the old homeworld and beyond."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: So their corridor range is limitless?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "They're very secretive about their corridors. Only they know how to navigate them and they like to keep it that way. From the Feds' intel, they've found similar corridors all the way out -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - in the Delta Quadrant, but there's no saying if it's part of the same network or something different. The ones in Delta Quadrant are controlled by other groups though, so if it does go out that -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - far, the Carrans probably don't have access to there. But they've been known to appear throughout the Alpha and Beta Quadrants."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods* So, it's travel light exploration mission.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Very much so. There are also small hopes that this will lead to new information on our pursuit of the Scryer"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Can we expect any trouble? I surmise Carrans run a tight security there?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd nods, "The Scryer Network's got a cell there, run by a Carran Eye from what I hear. It's not like the cells we deal with though, and they follow all the Underworld's rules so I don't think -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - they'll try and grab your people off the streets or anything like that."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "And a trade hub like that functioning for as long as it has, it definitely has good protection."

Egzo@HF_Mudd looks up from his PADD as that possibility is raised but dismissed.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "I think the biggest problem we have to worry about is getting into a contract without fully understanding its implications and realizing we don't like it, which isn't against the rules -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - long as we signed it willingly regardless of how well we understood it. Which'll make the Carrans force us to go through with it."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Don't tick off the Carrans, and we'll be fine."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Well, is there any info on how this contract system works?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Like how any other contracts work, I imagine. They outline terms and you agree to them or deny it. Just that the Carrans have records of all Carran contracts and they'll investigate if -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - you try and break out of them without completing what the contract requires."

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Imagine Ferengi business practice, with the brutal enforcement of Jem'Hadar and you're pretty much there by all accounts"

Istar@anncarise | Kayd nods, "A contract could be anything from a simple purchase to years of slavery from what I've heard. Nothing's out of the question for the Carrans."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Of course, the slave'll have to agree to be signed off into slavery, but enough corporate wording could fool somebody into thinking it's a good deal, at least initially."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "And when you realize it isn't, well, you've already signed the contract, and for the Carrans, contracts are all binding."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: In that case, it will be best to stick together and watch for anyone trying to scam us.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Most definitely"

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods, frowning.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Anything else to add?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd shakes her head, "That's about all we know. Underworld's a pretty major hub and far from regions we're familiar with, so there's gonna be species and cultures we don't recognize, but -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - that's nothing new for you, being out here."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods* It will prove an interesting journey to say the least.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Now, does anyone else have anything to bring up for discussion?

Lorri@crystyll shakes her head

Warhunter Ku'jho@Domarg nods negatively.

Egzo@HF_Mudd sets his PADD down again. "Nah, I'm good."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: In thet case, we have a mission to prepare for. Meeting is finished.
