[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> Sadia sits at one of the bigger tables which is filled with all kind of drinks and food from all across the empire and the local space.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *puts down her padd* Ah, glad you could make it, tabadi. I hope all goes well?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd steps into the bar, "A more casual setting today?"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods to Kayd* Yes, not really an official meeting, at least not a proper staff meeting.

Egzo@HF_Mudd seems to have gotten an early start on the carousing, standing around the bloodwine fountain with some other patrons and toasting each other's honor etc.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I like on occasion to speak to my officers and allies in less formal setting.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd nods and takes a seat, "Makes sense to me. It's good for getting to know people; even the Feds do diplomatic dinners and such and they love their formality."

Egzo@HF_Mudd leaves the group at the fountain and moves over to the table, full mug in each hand.

Egzo@HF_Mudd sets both on the table and drops into a chair. "Hey."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *grins at Egzo* Already prepared, I see. Well, don't let me slow you down. *she takes a fork and starts filling her plate with foodstuffs*

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Dig in, folks.

Egzo@HF_Mudd takes that advice to heart, reaching for some dark bread rolls and biting off a big hunk of one.

Egzo@HF_Mudd washes it down with a swig from one of his mugs.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd collects some food as well, "We all deserve a little celebrating after that last op."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *soon her plate is filled with a big steak and some vegetables* I could entire targ after this morning...had to explain to my crazy chief gunner we are not keeping the rail cannon installed on -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - Daramar. Too many power and structural intergrity issues.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Yeah, gun like that's not much use against anything that can get out of the way. Plus the ammo issues."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Nah. we actually recovered the shells - turns out pure neutronium doesn't break that easily. I mean, we could use shells from other materials like monotanium, but yeah, this was a special situation.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Yeah, but ya can't exactly go chasin' 'em down in the middle of a battle."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd nods, "It's definitely more of a specialty tool than a regular weapon."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I might say I'm proud of my technical staff, the weapon performed admirably in combat, though we did have to replace entire emergency battery system afterwards.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *noms on the steak* The cooling system we added to speed up the firing times broke containment and the fluid wrecked the batteries, but luckily it happened after the battle.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Retrofits always messy like that."

Egzo@HF_Mudd starts stabbin' him some chunks of meat and transferring them to his plate.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I was thinking what to do with the cannon now that it's off the Daramar.

Egzo@HF_Mudd snorts. "Mount it on the base? Bet the Old Man'd like /that/."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "I guess the base's systems can probably handle it. And since the base isn't going anywhere, recovering ammo might not be an issue."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Still a pretty situational weapon, more of a showpiece. Might scare off any attackers, but if they're stupid enough to attack a Klingon base to begin with..."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: You think this base need even more teeth than it already has? *nabs a piece of potato-like food*

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "I dunno, just thinkin' out loud."

Egzo@HF_Mudd puts some of that meat in his mouth and chews.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd chuckles, "Probably not, but where else are you gonna put it?"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Well, this entire situation got me thinking...like, we really had to find loops around this problem, and this time, we luckily had enough time and firepower on our hands to deal with it.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: We might find ourselves in a situation where we might not have such luxury, and maybe having...a team, an experimental vessel, SOMETHING, that can react faster to situations like this.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "So... build a new ship around it? From the keel up?"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Yes! Something like that, but not just for the cannon. A ship that can be easily modified for all kinds of experimental techs - to test new stuff and different implementation of already existing ones.

Egzo@HF_Mudd swallows what he was eating and squints at Sadia.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "I dunno that somethin' like that gun can be swapped in and out, quick or easy. I mean, that's most of the problems you had on Daramar."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Maybe something smaller, I can see that, but..."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Remember when Hom Qawwl' had to go to the dock for almost two years after the battle against iconians at Qo'nos?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Sounds like you want to make your own Kayeri Vaj"

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods ruefully, taking another drink of bloodwine.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to Istar and Lorri* Hom Qawwl' was an experimental Vor'cha retrofit using the nausicaan power draining tech. Turns out there was an issue with power distribution network that was only revealed after

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - prolonged days long battle that put the ship to a real stress test. Entire line - almost 100 vessels, had to be withdrawn from active service until the issues was fixed.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "It's not a bad idea. Risky like any prototype, just the question of whether it's worth taking the risk."

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods again.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I mean, we don't need to build a ship from scratch, I've been eyeing some support vessel models from all across the quadrants that could easily fulfill the role.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *she puts down her utensils for a big, takes her padd and types something. A small portable holoprojector shows some ship images and stops on...

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: https://pwimages-a.akamaihd.net/arc/61/c6/61c6f07e53b4e8b43028081ac494db411595869067.png

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Something like that, for example.

Egzo@HF_Mudd gives it the expected dubious eye.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: But at this point, I'm mostly in brainstorming phase. It's just that the local space has a lot of different, and in some cases, wierd tech and I'd like to have a mobile platform suited for testing.

Egzo@HF_Mudd shrugs. "Fair enough."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *goes back to her food* Disruptors and photons and fine for a baseline, but we can always see if we can add more guns to the armory.

Egzo@HF_Mudd finishes the rest of that bread roll and looks for some other tasty morsels from the selection on offer.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to Lorri and Kayd* It would be a joint effort, of course, if you'd be up for it.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Well as I said, it sounds a lot like you want to build your own Kayeri Vaj. And looking at that image, seems to me you're off to a good start for that"

Istar@anncarise | Kayd nods, "Agreed. And we'll be happy to help with what we've learned working on the Kayeri Vaj."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods* When we are talking about wierd technologies, did we manage to get anything useful from the Scryer's data?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Not much tech wise, from what I've seen looking over it. It looks all completely authentic from what we can tell, but it's exclusively data on the Feds."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Whatever secrets the base had of the civilization that built it, it's now lost with the station."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: That's a pity, such defense mechanism would be quite a find.

Egzo@HF_Mudd shrugs again, with what passes for philosophical acceptance in his case, and noms on a chunk of fried tuber.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: What dirt did he have on Feds?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Not enough to start a mass secession or deliver a crippling blow to them, but enough that if this intel doesn't get outdated, it'll definitely be an advantage if the Klingon Empire ever -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - goes to war with the Feds again. There's a lot on monitoring stations, defense plans, even a few codes for this and that."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Nice."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "How they got it is beyond me, but the Scryer Network has contacts everywhere."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I'll pass that to High Command, let their analysts play with the data.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "As for the Network itself, our sources say activity is still high, but mostly from still intact cells and what remains of the cells that were destroyed scrambling for power."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Can we expect any further problems from them at this time?

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "The Network was never a military organization, and the Scryer threw just about everything they had at us. Even if whoever ends up taking over shares the old Scryer's sentiment, they -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *she takes her glass and fills it with some wine*

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - wouldn't have the resources to act anytime soon."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Summa those'll get wiped out or abandoned, but some'll find new homes, new owners. Absorbed into existin' networks, stripped for parts."

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "Probably. We've pretty much finished the Network's mercs, the ones that's left have either gone looking for other work or they'll be spread out among the remaining cells and probably -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - kill plenty of each other in the power struggles. So I don't think we need to worry about them for a while."

Egzo@HF_Mudd looks into his mostly-empty mug, concludes "Yup, not our problem," and drains it.

Egzo@HF_Mudd takes up his other mug and raises it high. "To a successful operation!"

Istar@anncarise | Kayd grins and raises her glass.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *raises her glass*

Lorri@crystyll raises her glass

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: To victory! *drinks down the entire glass*

Istar@anncarise | Kayd: "To victory."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *sets the glass down* And let's not forget the spoils!

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods, raising his mug again. "To loot!"

Egzo@HF_Mudd grins, and drinks the rest.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *takes the padd, types on it and slides it to Egzo* I don't have new toys for you, so I hope additional bonus should suffice. More than enough for a crazy week or two of shore leave.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "I'll take it."

Egzo@HF_Mudd accepts the padd gratefully, tucking it away.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: And for our OSN allies...well, I believe it's time to expand our cooperation, at least what's within my power.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Just as we have a deal with the Romulan Republic through their JSI project, I am willing to grant the same level of support to the OSN.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: One of the main starbase towers will be turned into OSN command center and support facilities, and one of the shipyard drydocks will be reserved specifically for the OSN vessels.

Lorri@crystyll bows her head, "You honour us"

Istar@anncarise | Kayd nods and smiles, "Thank you."

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Hey, you've earned it."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: If you are willing to accept this arrangement, the exact specifics of the new setup will be discussed between our respected engineering/ops deparments.

Lorri@crystyll nods, "We can refine the details at a more convenient time"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Excellent. *refills her glass and rises it* To future cooperation!

Lorri@crystyll raises her own, "And strengthening alliances"

Egzo@HF_Mudd goes to raise his mug again, but finds it empty. Oh well, he'll refill it in a moment. For now, he joins the toast.

Istar@anncarise | Kayd raises her glass as well.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *she drinks it down and sets the glass aside* All that's left is to plan our shore leave. I'm heading to Risa again - and you know it, it's not just for fun and games.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "I assume this is part of some grand plan to secure the resources needed to design and build your ship?"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods to Lorri* I've got another meeting with Councillor Lagos. Hopefully without unwelcome interruptions this time.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Last time he asked us to join in on Martok's anti-Hur'q campaign in the Gamma Quadrant. This time the trouble seems to be far far closer to home.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "More High Council daggers-in-back-alleys stuff?"

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *she takes her fork and nabs some kind of mini-cake dessert* He didn't want to talk about the details over the comms, but he asked me to come with a combat-ready vessel. *to Egzo* If any stabbings -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - are to had, they will be at ship distances. *leans back in a seat as she munches down the cake* This was a personal call, so participation isn't mandatory. You are welcome to join me for the meeting at least.

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods to Sadia, and also waves a server over for a refill on his bloodwine. Both mugs.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Maybe I will."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Councillor Lagos is supportive of our cooperation with OSN, and House of Woldan has helped us a lot in the past few years...starting with Daramar itself.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Anyhoooow, the main shore leave rotations start tomorrow. Daramar will escort transports to the imperial space and then head back to Risa for the meeting. I've booked the regular spot by the beach, -

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - and you are all welcome.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I'll have the local "currency" packages waiting for you, so don't forget to pick them up when you land.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nabs another minicake* Damn this is good, will have to check who's making these...

Istar@anncarise | Kayd chuckles, "Guess we can all use a vacation after taking down the Scryer."

Egzo@HF_Mudd nods to that, as the server finishes topping him up.

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Indeed, and we've been late with the regular shore leave schedule, thanks to Scryer issue.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Yeah, about that. Some of the mercs were startin' to grumble a bit, so... let's not wait any more."

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Anyhow, let's get back to the food before it cools down!
