LOCATION: Doza Sector

MISSION: Routine Patrol

OUTCOME: The USS Endeavour responded to a distress call from the SS Carribbean. Carribbean destroyed to prevent the spread of toxic radiation and contamination of nearby systems. One survivor rescued.

KEY PERSONNEL:
CAPT Samuel Bishop (USS Endeavour)

NARRATIVE:

On a routine patrol route in the Doza sector, the USS Endeavour received an urgent distress signal from the SS Carribbean in which they stated that they had been attacked by the Borg. Sending out a general alert to any nearby ships as well as DS13, the Endeavour responded where I gave the order to not engage the Borg until the threat had been analysed and reinforcements called.

As we arrived at the destination, we found the destroyed remains of the Carribbean, though there were no signs of any Borg transwarp emissions, nor were there any lifesigns on the vessel, Borg or otherwise. Before we could deploy an away team, we found signs of a shuttle that was breaking up, with a lifesign. Unable to hail the shuttle or beam the occupant on board, we used a tractor beam to guide the disintegrating shuttle into shuttle bay 1 where we had security and biohazard teams stand by. The area was also shielded off so that there would be no danger to the ship or the crew until the identity of the shuttle and occupant was ascertained.

The survivor claimed to be one Captain Henry Hawkins, the only survivor from the Carribbean. Whilst he was reluctant to talk, from what I was able to gather, it seems the ship had been attacked by the Borg, and that he released a radioactive substance into his ship to make sure that there were no Borg survivors.

Captain Hawkins refused to answer any more questions and I was unable to verify his comments, as the radiation from the Carribbean was threatening to spread to nearby systems. Using a concentrated antimatter torpedo, we were able to annihilate the ship and radiation, leaving no traces of the radiation but also meaning that we were unable to retrieve any information from the ship. The Endeavour then scanned the area for Borg ships and upon finding none, we resumed our normal patrol.

RECOMMENDATION: This seems to be another report about a Borg attack in the nearby sectors but there is little evidence to prove this other than the unconfirmed word of Captain Hawkins. Though I am reluctant to accept him at face value without verification, I have to give him the benefit of the doubt for the purposes of this report and assume he is truthful until proven otherwise.

Records seem to validate some claims; for instance his name, and his posting as the Captain of the late Carribbean. He was taken under custody by Federation Law in 2405 on the grounds of theft and smuggling but he escaped to Klingon space before charges could be brought against him. He the disappears from Federation records until 2415 when he was cleared of all charges.

Captain Hawkins is currently in guest quarters on the Endeavour and I plan to turn him over to my squadron leader, Captain E. Quint, for further questioning. Captain Hawkins also claims to be working with the KDF. If this is true, following his questioning, I see no reason to hold him further.

OOC: This AAR serves as a follow up to the Samuel Bishop story and as an introduction for Henry Hawkins.
