MISSION: Call for aid from the RRW Saeihr.

OUTCOME: The Pegasus and the Shackleton turned back a potental ambushed, Security teams from the Pegasus secured civilian transport after a mutiny attempt.

KEY PERSONNEL:
CAPT A. Derenzis
CAPT A. Nimitz
CMDR M. t'Ehhelih

NARRATIVE: The Shackleton and the Pegasus responded to a call for aid from the RRW Saeihr. Upon our arrival the Commander of the Saeihr informed us that they were escorting a Civilian transport and were fearing a pending ambush from a small group of three vessels, one K't'inga, one Oberth, and one Cardassian Ravinok class.

Soon after our arrival it was reported that a mutiny was underway onboard the civilian transport, the Pegasus dispatched a team to restore order and tag the injured parties to the medical bay on the Saeihr. In the meantime the Shackleton warded off the ambush by deploying a few shuttles to look like Arkira class vessels. After the ambush was warded off and the civilian transport secured, the Pegasus and the Shackleton resumed their usual duties as the Saeihr escorted the transport to Deep Space 13.

RECOMMENDATION: This reporting officer recommends that Starfleet take a closer look at this new group of extremist that are operating inside Federation space, the leader is reportedly a Human by the name of Jayden Johnston. If this is a new extremist group, it needs to be put down as soon as possible, the reporting officer recommend that the Republic Intelligence debrief Starfleet regarding what they know and allow us to take down this organization with haste.

LOCATION: Deep space, Donatu Sector

MISSION: Response to call for aid from R.R.W. Saeihr

OUTCOME: Potential ambush by unknown extremist faction averted, no shots fired between vessels. Reported mutiny aboard Romulan civilian transport Khedak put down with assistance from Pegasus personnel.

KEY PERSONNEL:
Starfleet Personnel:
CAPT A. Derenzis
CAPT A. Nimitz

NARRATIVE: On Stardate 95692.5, the Shackleton received a general call for aid from the R.R.W. Saeihr, requesting assistance from Starfleet vessels in particular and stating that they and the civilian vessel they were escorting, quote, "believe we are entering a trap", unqoute. Given our position in the Kelterre Sector, I authorized the use of emergency slipstream to reach the Saeihr, and sent a response that we were coming to their aid.

As this was the Shackleton's first field use of quantum slipstream travel, our exit vector put us at 1.1 AU out from the Saeihr's position, and we proceeded the remainder of the way at full impulse. Sensors indicated that the U.S.S. Pegasus had responded to the Saeihr's call for aid, and was on-site. At this point, this officer and Captain Nimitz contacted Commander Mnheia; the Commander then informed us of the existence of a 'Federation extremist' group which Republic Intelligence had been tracking and which had been preying on Romulan civilian transports. The force deployed by this faction consisted of three outdated vessels, one Federation Oberth class science vessel, one Klingon K'Tinga class warship, and one Cardassian Ravinok class warship. All three vessels were not listed in any registry.

(Commander Mnheia also informed us that the extremist faction was led by a human named Jayden Johnston, who had a Vulcan lieutenant named Sanuc. This officer would note that neither name was in any intelligence briefing this officer has received since assuming command of the Shackleton.)

At this time, there were reports of a mutiny aboard the Khedak; which was suspected to be part of the planned ambush by the extremists.
Commander Mnheia requested assistance from the Pegasus in securing the Khedak and transporting any wounded to the Saeihr, which Captain Nimitz readily granted. This officer ordered the launch of three Class 8 shuttles to assume a diamond formation with the Shackleton and for our electronic warfare suite to create sensor echoes around each to make them appear as Akira class destroyers. The formation then approached to challenge the three hostile vessels. Primary intent was to force the hostiles to back down without combat. In the event that combat did ensue, the shuttles would then use their phasers against the Oberth, deemed to be the easiest to disable, while the Shackleton, backed by the Saeihr and Pegasus would engage the other vessels. However, the hostile vessels turned and fled, vanishing from sensors shortly thereafter. This officer ordered a tachyon sweep of local space in an attempt to find the vessels; this yielded a brief blip before vanishing. This suggests the hostiles have access to cloaking technology.

The immediate threat dealt with, this officer and Captain Nimitz asked for more information about the extremists. Subcommander Tylen, who had been given command of the Saeihr bridge while Commander Mnheia attended to some other matter, had replied he was not at liberty to share what intelligence they had on the extremists. He requested for copies of our sensor logs on the hostile ships, which we provided, and stated he would recommend the Federation be updated about the situation and the extremists.

RECOMMENDATION: The existence of a Federation-based extremist faction, which has access to multiple vessels from various governments - however outdated - and cloaking technology is a surprise to this officer; even more so that we had to be informed of its existence by one of our allies and not our own Intelligence service. It is this officer's considered opinion that had combat ensued, we would now have a full fledged diplomatic incident on our hands.

Starfleet Intelligence needs to investigate this faction at once. It's origin, resources, backers, and above all its motives for provoking violence and distrust between the Federation and one of its major allies. In addition, all Starfleet vessels patrolling within Donatu and neighboring sectors should be informed of the faction's existence and the profiles of the three ships in particular. Sensor logs from the Shackleton pertaining to the hostile vessels have been attached to this report.

MISSION:Another Patrol The RRW Saeihr was tasked with escorting the Republic Vessel Khedak from to Deep Space Thirteen.

OUTCOME:Successful. We called for assistance to Deep Space Thirteen when it appeared the Khedak was headed into a trap.

KEY PERSONNEL:

NARRATIVE: Command expected another possible extremist attack on a Romulan Civilian ship and tasked the RRW Saeihr with escorting the Republic Vessel Khedak to Deep Space Thirteen. Upon entering the Donatu Sector portion of the main trade corridor between Mol’Rihan and Deep Space Thirteen, SCDR Tylen indicated that three vessels had been detected on long range sensors and were taking up position in the middle of the trade corridor.

We called for assistance from Starfleet and the USS Pegasus and USS Shackleton responded and turned away the unknown vessels without engaging them.

RECOMMENDATION: Enough games with the extremists. It is time to hunt them down and eradicate them.

LOCATION:Trade Corridor, Donatu Sector, Beta Quadrant

MISSION: Escort the Republic Civilian Transport Vessel Khedak from Mol’Rihan to Deep Space 13.

OUTCOME:
Vessel successfully escorted, potential threats discouraged with aid from Federation ships Pegasus and Shackleton.

KEY PERSONNEL:
NARRATIVE:
The R.R.W. Saeihr was tasked to escort a civilian transport, the Khedak, from Mol’Rihan to Deep Space Thirteen. We moved through the Azure and Xaratine Sectors without incident, however upon entering the Donatu Sector the sensors detected something on long range sensors. It was an old K’Tinga Class vessel, running without any known registration. It became quickly clear the vessel was not KDF nor from any Klingon House in our database. At the same time, Subcommander Vordai began to detect unusual comm traffic from the Khedak. After a brief discussion, Commander Mnheia decided to call for assistance from Deep Space 13.

As we waited for a Federation response, two more ships appeared on long range sensors. One was a Federation Oberth ship, the other a Cardasssian Ravinok ship. Neither had registrations in our database, much like the K’Tinga vessel and both were also models no longer in service. It is likely all three ships were purchased at auction and utilized by an extremist group recently preying upon Republic civilian transports. The three ships took up a defensive position as the U.S.S. Pegasus and U.S.S. Shackleton arrived.

The Shackleton spoofed Akira destroyers to discourage the extremists while the Pegasus beamed a security team to the Khedak, which had come under attack by extremist infiltrators. Once they were dispatched, the three ships began a tactical retreat and all injured Romulan and Reman crew were transported to the Saeihr for medical attention. The Khedak reached Deep Space 13 without further incident.

RECOMMENDATION:
Previously, I was without authorization from the Khre’Riov to share information concerning the extremist faction with our Federation allies. Now that Commander Mnheia requested assistance from Starfleet vessels to ensure the Khedak’s safe journey to Deep Space 13, I believe it even more pertinent to share the information we have. My offer to communicate with the Starbase Commander continues to be open and I believe in this instance, sharing Intelligence is key to preventing this extremist group from harming more civilians.

It should be noted that Subcommander Xodak is responsible for the lack of communication and transparency in dealing with this extremist faction. He has knowingly withheld information from the Federation, despite the protests of many other officers and Commanders with better tactical abilities. A full investigation into the Subcommander may yield more secrets potentially harming the relationship between the Federation and the Republic or the Republic itself.

When the three extremist ships retreated, the Shackleton detected the trail left by a cloak. It appears they have access to cloaking technology. Future patrols should be ready to detect Tachyon particles should the extremists decide to create a more tactical ambush.
