Spoiler: The meetingShow
[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: <FX> You arrive at the small walled-off mansion on Risa and are escorted by a private security guard inside the mansion, and then to a turbolift to an underground area. Despite being decorated, it is-

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: - obvious this was once a safety bunker, from the times before risians stabilized their planet's wild climate. There you are greeted by an orion guard...

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: *looks at the trio, and then at the Padd* Captain Egzo, Tabadi Lorri?

Lorri@crystyll nods

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Welcome, and please follow me. Tahedri Hiram the Third is expecting you.

Egzo@HF_Mudd looks to the ladies, shrugs, follows.

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "So he's calling himself a Tahedri..."

Lorri@crystyll hrms

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: *while you walk* Please note that dampening field has disabled your weapons and communications, as a precautionary measure. We apologize for the inconvenience.

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Wuzzat mean, again?"

Egzo@HF_Mudd doesn't seem overly concerned by the escort's statement, or maybe he's just focused on the question.

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "Patriarch. Basically a male equivalent for Tabadi."

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "In the old tongue" she adds with a nod

[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Ah huh. Figgers."

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: <FX> As you pass therough the hallways, you do notice only a few guards along the way, but all are very well armed, and by the way they walk, very well trained.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: <FX> You enter the large meeting room, and from one of the seats at the top of the main table, a well dressed Orion male gets up and moves in to greet you.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Come in, come in! Welcome to my humble abode! I hope you had a pleasant trip?

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "This place's not bad, I'll give ya that much. Feels a little holo-villainy, but I kinda like that."

Egzo@HF_Mudd lets the ladies do the talking, as usual, while he plays dumb and/or checks the place out.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: *chuckles* I prefer some added security when discussing business, considering the circumstances. Please, join me by the table.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: *motions to the tabe with assorted drinks a foodstuffs*

Egzo@HF_Mudd plunks himself in a chair and finds some small fruit to nibble on.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: *sits after everyone else is seated* Well, tell me how can I help such esteemed people today?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "We want to know your business with Mo'kai"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Ah, the dead klingon House arising like a phoenix from the ashes to challenge the ways of the current rule. An interesting bunch, though obviously not strong enough...yet.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "That's one way to describe it I guess"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: You made quick work of their forces in Servin, if my long range sensors are to be trusted.

Egzo@HF_Mudd observes, between what are definitely not chunks of melon and pineapple dyed with food coloring, "You seem t' wanna deal pretty bad."

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Well, that location was our only clue at that moment, and they did provide an interesting option. It was calculated risk, but in the end we will have to look for alternate means.

Egzo@HF_Mudd grunts an affirmative and has more snacks.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: But, how come you are involved in this? It looks like House war, what is your investment in this?

Lorri@crystyll shrugs, "House wars tend to make the Empire sit up pay attention"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: And you believe they will value you more if you help the Chancellor with this issue?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Our value is inconsequential in this. This is a Klingon affair, it just so happens that my role has me attached to one of their fleets"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: And you are fine with this? Working for Klingons?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "/With/" she corrects

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: And what it they decide your participation is mandatory? Will you have the power to oppose them?

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "We have already been through this with them and stepped away from that historical relationship"

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "The OSN is allies with the KDF as much as it is with Starfleet. Just as my girls slot into the command structure when on secondment to a Starfleet service, so do I while assisting the KDF. Which +

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: + brings us back to the point that this is an Imperial affair, not on Orion one"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Yet the affairs of big powers affect us all, one way or another.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Naturally. If you elude to the concept of picking the winning side, you should re-evaluate things"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: And that is the reason why we acted the way we did.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "So you made a bad call"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: That is still under consideration. It would seem that Mo'kai have far bigger support than originally anticipated. Whether they gain enough momentum to challenge J'mpok's rule is to be seen, -

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: - in this case we decided it was better to act than to stay on the sidelines. Every chance to remove the Syndicate from imperial protection, no matter how small, should be considered.

Lorri@crystyll grumbles under her breath, "Every chance to remove the Syndicate. Period..."

Egzo@HF_Mudd listens to the byplay, while making a fair effort to eat Hiram out of house and home, one tray of hors d'oeuvres at a time.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Well, that's the first step, of course. *leans back and sighs* We almost had them, when the Federation was moved against the D'ian. *grunts* To see them shielded by the Empire, of all sides, -

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: - was an unexpected move.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "The Syndicate are only shielded by the Empire as long as they are useful to them. And the way they continue to dwindle almost into obscurity, that value is plummeting"

[Team] Egzo@HF_Mudd: (just had to get Lorri onto familiar subjects to get her engaged and talking with confidence :)

[Team] Lorri@crystyll: good luck getting the soapbox away from her again

[Team] Istar@anncarise: Hahaha

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: So, in short, me and my associates are trying what we can to destroy the Syndicate - or at least push them into insignificance.

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "Then you should consider picking sides in that war and leave the Klingons to their own affairs"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Syndicate will never fall as long as it has klingon support. That gives them legitimacy they never held before.

Lorri@crystyll scoffs, "You haven't heard a word I said have you. The Syndicate has already fallen, with so much lost to them they can barely sustain the ragtag fleet of rotting space carcasses they call a fleet"

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: "The Empire has no use of petty criminals with delusions of grandeur. And once we retake the homeworld, that will be the final nail in their coffin"

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Who is delusional now? Syndicate has grown more bold than ever before, their cells are trying to get into every decent orion business across the quadrant. It's not their fleets we are worried about, but of their ever-growing influence and popularity among the people.

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "The Klingons got no love for the Syndicate. It's an alliance of convenience, and they'll ditch the Syndicate sooner or later. When that happens, all we gotta do is expose the Syndicate presence in -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - these businesses and they'll be rooted out in no time. Not like anybody actually has any love for the Syndicate. Least, I can't imagine folks in legitimate business being particularly comfortable -

[Local] Istar@anncarise: - dealing with slavers and raiders."

Lorri@crystyll eyerolls, looking to the others as she stands, "I know a lost cause when I see one. If you want to waste your time speaking with this fool then be my guest, but I will not sit here and let this +

[Local] Lorri@crystyll: + little man try and speak to /me/ about business... about /my/ business" she looks to Hiram as if to speak, but just shaking her head with disappointment

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: *Hiram sighs* A fiery one, eh? Well, I apologize if my answers were...not satisfactory, but we hold no ill will against any of you.

Istar@anncarise stands as well, "We're all no friends of the Syndicate here. We don't have to be on different sides, but supporting some Klingon upstarts might well put you on the other side."

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: It's just that we don't all have time to wait for Klingons to decide the Syndicate is not worth the effort.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: I doubt you will ever see us on the battlefield, we are businessfolk, not soldiers.

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "No, but if these upstarts get crushed, you'll still lose something. It's Klingons politics, you know what it's like. They're always at each other's throats. It ain't worth it getting in their way."

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "Let 'em sort it out, and we'll see if we can get whoever comes out on top to give up on supporting the Syndicate."

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: My associates will most likely look at other ways to deal with the issue, but we will not directly hamper you. *to Istar* Even if these upstarts fail, they will start a reaction.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Sometimes all what's needed is a gentle push in one direction to get things rolling.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: Anyhow, I believe this topic has been exhausted at the moment. Do you wish to discuss something else?

Istar@anncarise shakes her head, "Nah. Long as you don't directly hamper us, that's all we're asking. Just remember we're on all on the same side here in the end."

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "Fighting among ourselves over how exactly we get rid of the Syndicate isn't going to help any of us."

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: I do keep that in mind. My colleagues and I do a decent amount of business, both in the Empire and with the OSN.

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: In the end, heads of the governments change, but business remains a business.

[Local] Istar@anncarise: "Exactly. It's not in your interest to meddle with Klingon politics."

[Local] Sir Doffsalot XV@gulremal: Hiram: If that's all, I have another meeting to take care of.

Istar@anncarise nods, "I won't take up any more of your time, then."

Istar@anncarise turns to head out as well.

Egzo@HF_Mudd grabs a last treat from the table and follows the ladies out.
